1 starI purchased a domain for $1,892 through GoDaddy's auction on December 1, 2024, under the promise that the transfer would be completed within 120 days. After 26 days of delays, excuses, and poor communication, GoDaddy canceled the transaction, claiming the seller no longer owned the domain. This raises serious concerns about their ability to verify ownership and manage their auction platform with integrity.GoDaddy initially claimed the seller owned the domain but later reversed this, exposing a failure to conduct basic due diligence. Selling domains without verifying ownership not only undermines the auction process but also creates significant risks for buyers who rely on their platform in good faith. For nearly a month, GoDaddy held my payment, causing delays in business plans and ticket sales for an important event, which directly relied on securing this domain. This disruption was avoidable had they managed the process competently.Adding to the frustration was GoDaddys abysmal customer service. I was repeatedly cold-transferred, denied access to supervisors, and misrepresented in follow-up communications. Instead of resolving the issue, their representatives wasted time and failed to provide clear answers, making the situation even worse. The lack of accountability and professionalism is unacceptable for a company of this size. The sellers inability to deliver the domain and GoDaddys facilitation of the auction raise red flags about potential fraudulent activity. If the seller falsely claimed ownership, GoDaddy is complicit through negligence. This situation reflects systemic flaws in their processes, and I believe there may be grounds to escalate this issue further.I will be taking next steps, including reporting this matter to *****, filing a complaint with the ***, and consulting legal counsel to ensure accountability. I strongly advise others to avoid GoDaddy's auction platform, as the risks and lack of accountability are far too great.

We thank you for sharing your candid feedback.Premium Domains listed on our platform are not offered by GoDaddy directly; we provide a marketplace for domain owners that enables the exchange of funds for the expected delivery of a domain. When delivery fails, it is neither our obligation nor in our capability to "force" delivery of the domain, especially if ownership has since changed hands.A full refund for the premium domain name purchase was processed on December 26, 2024.We welcome the opportunity to connect with you in the hopes of resolving your outstanding concerns and can be reached at ************************************************Jide G

Thank you for your response. However, your reply fails to address the critical issues at the heart of my complaint, and it further demonstrates a lack of accountability and understanding of your responsibilities as a marketplace provider. I would like to highlight several key problems with your statement:1. Failure to Verify Ownership:As the operator of a marketplace, GoDaddy has a responsibility to ensure that the items being auctioned meet basic standards of authenticity and ownership. By allowing a domain to be listed without verifying the sellers ownership, you facilitate a flawed and potentially fraudulent transaction. The claim that you cannot "force" delivery after ownership has changed hands highlights the systemic failure in your process. A legitimate marketplace must verify ownership before allowing a domain to be listed for sale.2. Breach of Trust:Your response dismisses the expectation that buyers should be able to trust the integrity of transactions on your platform. By failing to provide due diligence and then denying responsibility when issues arise, GoDaddy creates a marketplace **** with risk for buyers. Hosting a service without taking responsibility for its integrity undermines the purpose of offering such a platform.3. Delayed Refund and Business Impact:While you processed a refund on December 26, 2024, this came only after 26 days of delays, misinformation, and disruption to my business. The refund does not compensate for the lost time, opportunity, and damage to my business plans caused by your platform's negligence. A refund does not absolve you of the responsibility for the harm caused.4. Neglecting Accountability as a Marketplace Host:While you may claim that GoDaddy merely acts as a facilitator, this does not absolve you of accountability for the transactions that occur on your platform. If GoDaddy profits from the sale of domains and promotes its auction platform, you bear responsibility for the integrity of those transactions. Any assertion to the contrary reflects a disregard for your role in enabling these exchanges.5. Deficient Customer Service:Your response ignores the issues I raised about poor communication and customer service. Repeated cold transfers, denied access to supervisors, and lack of meaningful resolution indicate systemic shortcomings in your customer support. These deficiencies further erode trust in your companys ability to manage issues effectively.6. Potentially Facilitating Fraud:By allowing domains to be listed without verifying ownership, GoDaddy creates a system where fraudulent listings can occur. Even if you are not directly responsible for a sellers misrepresentation, your platform facilitates such activity through negligence. This is a serious concern that requires immediate corrective action, not dismissive statements. What GoDaddy Should Address:Implement robust ownership verification processes before allowing domains to be listed on your auction platform.Provide transparency about the steps taken to ensure the integrity of transactions.Offer compensation beyond refunds to address business losses caused by your platform's failures.Overhaul customer service to ensure accountability and professional communication.Until these systemic issues are resolved, buyers cannot trust GoDaddys auction platform, and your company risks losing credibility in the marketplace. I urge you to take these concerns seriously and provide a meaningful response that reflects accountability and a commitment to improvement.Review fromShavanna H

1 starNot sure what has happen with GoDaddy other than HORRIBLE. Money grabbing hungry With poor results for long time customers. Poor customer service your time is not valuable you sit on hold up to hours to get no where once you finally get someone on the phone. Ridiculous
I agree totally with all the reviews from customers about GoDaddy. I'm very highly disappointed. But no one is concerned that they have disappointed and let down their customers whom had at one time supported them. Nor do GoDaddy have any concern about you losing business customers do to their systems changes, not to mention you will have to pay more money to get anything fixed do to their changes now the customer pays for upgrades or loses what you have had and already paid for.
GoDaddy you should be shame how you treat your customers.Review fromDan M

1 starGo Daddy has become a total ripoff scam operation. After 9 years with them they changed all my billing from yearly to quarterly and the price is about the same. Calling support was no help so I had to close the website down. They let you build up your website then hold it hostage and make you pay whatever ****** they choose for you to keep using it. They strangle the small business owner.

1 starDue to consistent problems with my website, I am forced to regularly engage with godaddy customer support, which is almost always a frustrating experience. It is typically hit or miss. While you might get lucky by getting someone who is polite, intelligent and helpful, often times you get someone who is downright nasty and worthless. On Christmas Eve, my site again went down due to a 503 maintenance error of some kind. This also impacted my ability to log into the file manager to try to find the source of the problem on my own. Calling customer support, JamesB answered the line and was rude from Hello. ***** refused to offer any insight into the source of the problem other than to say my resources are at capacity and the only way to fix this problem is to buy more capacity. JamesB would not even explain what resources were at capacity or why, given that my website is a small page with a lightly used forum. JamesB would not guide me in anyway as to how to access the files on the backend so that I could locate the source of the problem on my own, since I seemed to be locked out of the file manager. When pressed, JamesB got very testy and impatient, and when I advised that he was not being helpful, he simply hung up. I emailed JamesB advising him that hanging up on a customer in need is unacceptable and that he does not have the temperament or training to be in customer service work. To my surprise, he emailed me back in a flippant manner and actually engaged in a back-and-forth argument with my by email, essentially stating that my website is down and since I didnt want buy more capacity, there was nothing left to talk about! JamesB is an embarrassment to godaddy and discredits this company. ****** has no business in representing godaddy in customer support. This individual should not be interacting with the public in any manner.Review fromRebecca F

1 starOn December 6, 2024, I purchased a business email subscription from GoDaddy for $251.64 to transfer my business email from another provider. I spent the next 9 days online and on the phone with Tech support due to technical errors that they were unable to solve, all the while my BUSINESS emails was completely down during that time. I spent countless hours every evening and two weekends on the error that was escalated 3 times, still no service. On December 15th, I contacted another provider and requested to transfer my Business email from GoDaddy to them. Within 1 hour, my business email was up and running, no problem, little effort on my part. I then called Go Daddy to request a refund and they told me I waited too long (SERIOUSLY) and would have to submit a refund request online. I submitted the request online and now 7 days later I call to get a status update and they cant find the request I submitted, so told me to wait another 7 - 10 business days while they "escalate" the request. I decide that no on should go through this and decide to submit a dispute with BBB and learn that I am not the only one experiencing this unacceptable business ethic. Now I have to move my domain and honestly, I am frightened beyond words to even attempt it. BE FORWARNED You will encounter nothing but loss of time and business attempting to do business with GoDaddy! not even sure why I have to click a star?

After 10 days of not having a working business email for the service I purchased, I spoke with your customer support team 3 times requesting the refund. Each time I was told something different. I was told that I waited too long to request the refund, then I was told to submit a request form, which I did and after a week I called back and was told I should dispute the transaction from my bank. So, that is exactly what I did. You had 3 opportunities to connect and resolve, prior to my submission to the BBB? Now I am spending my holidays, logging into my online accounts to reset up my email accounts because my business email account was down for 10 days.

1 starThis is the worst company to get a domain from. They are not clear about what you are purchasing, their product doesn't work, and then when you are trying to get them to fix their product they try and upsell you. I would never work with this company again.

1 starI have been with GoDaddy for years and for some reason their customer service has gone to COMPLETE TRASH. The people who answer the phone must not understand English every well because they don't know how to communicate. Also, it should not take 2+ hours to troubleshoot and update a DNS record. I was able to update my own DNS and found that I had wasted SEVERAL HOURS on the phone for nothing. After keeping me on the phone for hours, the fool wouldn't transfer me to a supervisor. I will be taking my business elsewhere. I can see there's a Tempe address and I work in *****, perhaps they need people to drop by the facilities to get a message to someone higher up in the *************** NOT GIVE YOUR BUSINESS TO GODADDY!

1 starI have used godaddy for 15 years for many things. I have used godaddy for website building, email, advertising, marketing, social media, etc. Each time I have a problem with thier services malfunctioning I cant help and many times have been refused requests to get someone different who can help. The email client is horrible and I was not recieving emails or my customers were not recieving my responses so i cut the email out. As problems continued other services over the years i kept cutting out each service as it always fails with no way to fix it. I am down to just the website and no other services as they are so unreliable. The staff is very unrelaiable. I will be looking for a new provider today. When I spoke to them about not being satisfied with the service and i would be considering other providers....they simply daid they understood and best of luck as they do not care about customer retention.
