Buyer beware- deceptive business practices. Had someone come to my door to sell the product while I was working and give me the pitch. The person told me to avoid the cancellation fee I would just have to have 2 services. Turns out, it was really 18 months. I was not impressed with the service or results and cancelled after a few months and now am being charged $199 for a cancellation fee. Not transparent at all and they sell a service and have people come out that know very little about the process. I expressed frustration and was just told it was policy.Business Response

I was approached by a door-to-door salesman approximately five months ago. He detailed pest control for the rest of 2023 for a cost of $99. He said that next year I would receive additional treatments and that would cost $149. I agreed and gave him $99, when the company did the second treatment, I received an additional bill for $99. I immediately called the company and advised that I was not paying that $99. I advised the sales rep told me that I would get two treatments for $99. I also emailed the company and told them that was an unfair business practice and I was not going to pay the additional $99. They have turned me over to collections, and I am repeatedly bothered by ARM solutions. I am 65 years old and on a fixed income, I have no intention of giving them any more money. I would, however appreciate them calling off the collection company.Business Response

Account #******* I had service with Aptive for a few years at 2 addresses. By coincidence, I realized that the company was not performing the services expected by reviewing video footage from my residence. The footage shows the technician pulling into my driveway at 10:17am, walking around my home taking pictures and then driving off at 10:21am. I subsequently received text messages from the technician at 11:30am saying he arrived and at 12:03pm saying he just completed the service followed by a charge of $110. The Technician's name was *************************.I immediately contacted Aptive and spoke with *************************. I emailed her Jan 2nd with a full recounting of the text messages, and attached videos showing what happed very clearly. I requested a refund and to cancel service given the trust is gone. She replied to my email indicating "Thank you *****! I received this email and will be forwarding to the Operations Supervisor in your area as soon as possible." A return call never came.I reached back out to her on the 8th via email and no response.I disputed the transaction with Citibank. They completed their investigation and closed it as Aptive sent over the service notes from the technician indicating it was part of a regular service that was performed.I then receive a notification from Aptive that the tech will be arriving shortly for my next service!!!! Keeping calm, I called and went several rounds with them trying to cancel, which was finally completed. I am still out $110 for a service that was not performed, captured on video and provided to the merchant customer service, and I seriously question how many other quarterly services they actually completed or if they just came and left to collect. Less than 4 minutes from pull up to drive off taking pictures of my home and texting me those same pics indicating all the areas he "treated". I would like my money back and a call from whoever else need to see the videos to make that happen.Business Response

I signed a 24-month contract, for quarterly treatments at $109 per treatment. This equates to 8 treatments in a 24-month period. I was charged for 9. One of these was for a “reservice”, which means a re-treatment because of additional bug activity that needed another treatment. Here’s what the contract states on “reservices” - note “at no additional cost”:
8. RESERVICES. Pest problems between regularly scheduled treatments may occur. If you have a problem with pests between regular treatments, Aptive will return to treat the problem area again at no additional cost.
I pursued reimbursement for $109 and was told this: “I understand your concern. However, those dates that we performed the services, would be a valid charge. Unfortunately, services are automatically scheduled for all customers.”
I then asked for escalation and am told this: “We do apologize for the inconvenience. I've taken a look at your account, and it appears here that the charges are valid since the system automatically schedules all customers based on their chosen plan.”
I have provided the actual PDF of the contract both times. Aptive’s team is not reading the terms - I’ve presented the actual plan I selected. There is a clear contract breach.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:In working through resolution I was promised a refund of a recent transaction totaling $119. On 3/8, the company rep stated I would receive a physical check sent overnight, and that I would receive a tracking number. This was 5 days ago and I’ve reached out and not heard back. I’m still waiting on the $119 mailed check and will keep this case unresolved until the check is sent and successfully deposited.
If this cannot happen within a week by 3/20, then I would like to ask for double reimbursement because of the time and strain to keep tracking this issue.

I am a former customer who cancelled their subscription a year ago. However, I have been spammed with marketing emails ever since. The unsubscribe button on their marketing emails has not functioned in the past year making it impossible to get off the list. When I reached out the first time, I got no response. The second time, I was given a pitch to resubscribe. The third time I was promised I was officially off all communications from them. However I continue to receive marketing and spam email. I just want to never receive communication from this company again. I am incredibly frustrated and will never use their service again.Business Response

We began service with Aptive in July of 2023. Aptive has not lived up to expectations. They only serviced our house 5 times and in the 5 times they have only sprayed inside one time. During one of the visit the person performing the service only sprayed our front porch. Our inside the house and entire outside house is supposed to be sprayed. We contacted Aptive to cancelled service however only to be told that they refusing to close our account until we pay $100. Why would we pay $100 to cancel? The service is not being performed as the company stated it would be. I realize many people would say it's "just" a $100 as the company stated to us, however $100 could buy food or gas. We have paid for all services performed up to this date. However the $100 is a cancelling fee.Business Response

Very deceptive business practice. I was sold by a door to door salesman for a treatment of mosquitos, flies, cockroaches, etc. It was not clear that this was a membership with a $199 cancelation fee.
I was told someone would come do a thorough treatment, inspect plants, bring traps, etc, but instead some college kid (with seemingly no training) came after dark and did a 10 minute spray. He did not have any traps as I was promised. It was dark, so he couldn't even see what he was doing. He also didn't know the difference between different types of cockroaches, and told me he was just trying to make money for the summer and didn't care about doing a good job.
One the second service, the guy told me I should call customer service and yell at them if I want anything done or changed.
Very bad service, no workers are happy with their job and they complained to me about their job on site. When you try to cancel, they charge you a $199 fee.Business Response

Aptive pest control sent me to collection after I canceled my contract with them. I canceled the contract on August 11, 2023 & September 11, 2023 and they continue to bill for new services that they claim they rendered after cancellation date and after acknowledging that they received e-mail for contract termination request. I had 2 services with them which were paid in full before canceling. They didn’t fullfill their contractual obligation which is why I canceled. I signed for this services mainly for inside the house. however, they only sprayed inside the first day, after that they just sprayed outside and left. I keep sending copies of proof of cancellation pictures of emails and conversations exchanges but keep changing dates and reason for charges
I believe that ignoring contract cancellation request is a trick that they use in order to continue to render services so they can continue to bill your credit card, and sending you to collections if you refuse to pay. They must be stop.
I want them to cancel my account from the collection agency, cancel all charges as I’m NOT WORKING responsible for services made after cancellation date and they provided bad services. My account had zero balance as of Sept 11 2023.

Company failed to actually provide service after 3 scheduled appointments including that a technician was in my neighborhood but never showed up. At which point I cancelled my contract with them for their failure to actually perform the service I agreed to. 3 months after that I received a collection notice for an expense related to terminating my contract early. I did not receive a single bill or notification that I owed them anything. Reading the tiny print of my contract I realized there was a $199 early termination fee. What kind of company doesn’t send an invoice or inform their customers of a bill? This company needs to be put out of business permanently for continuing to ruin peoples credit for a service they don’t even provide. Giant scam.Business Response

On July 17 2023 I entered a contract with Aptive and paid $159.43 After reading all the downloaded contract, I tried to cancel online, which was not successful. I called their office at the 1-800 number on 08/03/23 and canceled the Agreement. Aptive then charged $159.06 on 08/23.23 claiming a service that they never showed up to do. Now Aptive claims I owe $199.00 for what I have no idea.Business Response
