I was approached by an Aptive sales person who stated he would cancel my current pest control service on my behalf so that I would not be double charged. I agreed to switch but then, after I was charged by the original company, found out that Aptive mislead me. I submitted a complaint to active customer service department and they told me that they do not cancel services on behalf of customers. They also told me I would then be responsible for $199 for canceling the 18 month contract early. So I spent $340 in one month to have 2 pest control services. I feel deceived.Business Response

Agreed to a 1-time service spray as a representative approached our home telling us they had extra chemicals from a nearby neighbors spray. Was told we were getting a discounted rate as they were trying to avoid having to bring the chemicals back. Confirmed with the representative we would only have a $50 initial charge and a $90 follow up spray. Was then charged an additional $90 the month following the second spray (got a complete service email). Called noting the error and was told I was signed up for a 12-month "pro plan" with recurring payments for 12 months. When I told them this was not the deal they agreed to they refused the refund and charged a $199 fee for early cancellation of a plan I never agreed to in the first place. Misrepresentation and Fraudulent Inducement: an Aptive salesperson approached my home despite a clearly posted no solicitors sign, violating San Diego Municipal Code *******. I informed him I already had pest control, but he insisted on a no-obligation trial to demonstrate superior service since his team was in the neighborhood. I was pressured to sign an agreement via an iPad without being given time to read the 24-month term or full terms, constituting a violation of California ********************** Code ***** (false advertising). This misrepresentation induced me to enter the contract unknowingly.2. Ineffective Service: The initial treatment, failed to address existing pests and instead caused new indoor infestations of ants, cockroaches, and silverfish, which I documented with photos. Aptive claims a 70% initial elimination with follow-up services (per their August 27, 2025, response), but this exacerbated my pest problem, breaching the implied covenant of good faith (California Civil Code 1656).3. Failed Cancellation Attempt and Unauthorized Charges: I signed cancellation notices within the contract on June 23, 2025, intending to exercise my 3- or 5-day rescission rights (per Pages 3-4), but did not submit them separately due to the misrepresentation. On August 25, 2025, I formally requested cancellation via email, which Aptive acknowledged, discontinuing services effective that date. However, they charged my credit card $95.00 on August 25 (monthly fee) and $199.00 on August 26 (Initial Discount Reimbursement fee), totaling $294.00, despite confirming no future charges. These post-cancellation charges are unjustified and potentially violate California Commercial Code ******. Refusal to Refund: Despite my disputes via email (August *****, 2025), Aptive refuses to waive the $199 fee or refund the $95 charge, citing the contracts terms. They ignore my evidence of misrepresentation, local ordinance breach, and service failure.Business Response

I was approached by a door to door salesman. I said no 5 times and he refused to leave. After an hour an a half, he said it would be a trial offer for the first 60 days and if I was not satisfied, I could call to cancel and there would not be any fees. I told him I was being laid off from my job the following week and if I couldn't find another one within that time frame, I would have to cancel. I also wanted to ensure there were no cancelation fees. He confirmed several times there were no fees. Unfortunately, there was an increase in pests, obviously the product was not working. I called to cancel and was told there is a $199 cancelation fee! I specifically confirmed with the salesman there were no fees! I have told their people when they have tried to come over that I do not want their service. I have tried to contact their office, only to be routed out of the country. The salesman also said they are a locally based company tgat only operates here. The salesman used deceptive tactics and lies to secure a contract that was false. I have emailed the company, told the representatives to stop coming and texted them that we do not want them on our property but they will not stop coming. This is serious and we now considering legal action.Business Response

jun 26th 2025 I started Aptive pest control services. One year contract for services. Within the first 6 weeks there were multiple communication errors between the service men and the Call Ctr. Over 14 were tracked and I called to cancel my service due to these communication errors, the job, the times, the scheduling. They tried several times to get me to " give them another chance" but after so many chances, I couldnt continue with it. They charged me the usual $199 for early cancelation. I spoke with 2 managers to share my experience. I stated that their faulty communications, led to poor service, leading to distrust in the relationship, and that I dont feel that I should have to pay the early cancellation fee of $199. Its bad enough that I didnt get the services they promised as they promised ans I wanted, let alone have to pay for their communication gliches.
The managers gave me their reasoning, but ultimately, they charged me and said they were sorry.Business Response

I have received a full refund to my payment method.I am satisfied, BUT, I have another complaint regarding this business. I was told by the Call Ctr that a Refund( of this type)_ was impossible once the account is closed. Unless,I would keep the account open, they loose access to payment methods( for money exchange).
If this were true then How did I receive the Refund? Another miscommunication( even in the complaint resolution), falsifying information to the customer based on their preferences. I hope this business, doesnt fraudulently use my Payment methods( that they can access,as they processed the refund), even when I am not a client of theirs. This is another liability to future customers of Aptive Pest Mgmt.

On July 22, 2025, an Aptive Environmental sales representative came to my home in Palm Coast, FL. He specifically told me the service would be a one-time treatment for $50. Based on that assurance, I agreed. At no time did I knowingly agree to enter into a contract, subscription, or recurring plan.
After the service, I was later charged $199.00. This charge was never disclosed to me, was not authorized, and directly contradicts what the representative promised.
To make matters worse, when I signed the digital paperwork, the representative lied and told me I was signing for a one-time $50 charge only. I have doorbell video footage and text message communications proving that the representative misrepresented the service and misled me about what I was signing.
This is a clear case of misrepresentation and deceptive sales practice. Aptive’s customer service has refused to work with me to resolve this issue, despite my attempts to dispute the charge directly.Business Response

I was told via an APTIVe representative that I was only required to make 3 payments towards my insect service before I could cancel if I was not seeing any results. First time I was charged $99 even tho they didn’t have all of the supplies. they had to return the next time to provide me with repellent I had paid for but didn’t remove web or eggs in the garage or near door areas. I had to remove a hornet nest from my patio furniture even tho that was part of the service. . I had visible spider eggs and webs in areas they were to service. I called to cancel my service and I was now required to pay $199 to cancel the service even tho that was not discussed when I specifically asked about the service plan cancellation if I was not pleased.Business Response

In April 2025, I hired this company on a two-year contract to spray for pests. The first guy named ****, very professional and did an excellentjob. The second service was performed by *** poor service. I had a lot of bugs not only outside but inside my home, the third service was scheduled. showed up. I had to call them to get them to come service. My home also told them about the service from the second time wasnot very satisfied They came. They sprayed again more and more bugs were getting into my home. I called the company back the fourth visit was worse than a and third I called and talked to active just yesterday. Talk to a supervisor named ********. Told her about my complaint about big bugs coming into my house How the second and third and fourth people did a poor job on servicing my house. I canceled my contract with them. They not only out the $199 cancellation fee but also the monthly fee of $60. I have yet to see my money back. I’m filing this complaint because I think this company did a bait and switch which I’m not satisfied with I work really hard for mymoney. Aptive Pest Control salespeople continually trespass on our property, ignoring all 'No Trepassing' and 'No Solicitation' signs, and ignore our saying 'No, thank you. We are not interested in your company." There is never a business card or permit produced. Two days ago, a young man with an Aptive shirt on ignored me saying that I wasn't interested. He proceeded to open the gate to our porch and ignore me again asking him to leave. My husband had to come out to the porch, where the young salesman started to argue with him. We threatened to call the police, and he STILL would not leave. He finally left, but berated my husband the whole time he was leaving. Totally unprofessional and aggressive. I would never use or recommend your services now, given this experience and constantly having salesmen show up at dinner time and not taking 'no thank you' for an answer. I do not want any more of these salesmen at my house. I will call the Attorney General if I need to, or I will sue you. DO NOT COME TO MY HOUSE AGAIN.Business Response
