Signed up for Aptive service, did not like service provided, was still seeing pest around the house. Decide to stop service and do my own pest control. Paid 3 months of service $40 first month and $88 for next 2 months. But now they are saying I need to pay 199 for cancel of contract. Or they will send yo collections. The rep I talked to told me I only need to have 2 treatments and I could cancel if I did not like service. I was lied too. Then they tried to charge my card another $88 even after i canceled. and tried to offer me a discount to continue service for $50 a month. I have email to prove. everything.Business Response

I don't know whether the issue is with company policy or poor oversight of field staff however, their sales people came to my door to sell their service. I explicitly told the sales guy I do not want to be in a yearly contract and he assured me that it was just a one time service. I agreed and signed up for the one time service. Granted, I did not read all the paperwork, so that is my responsibility. That said, the unethical practice of sales people saying anything to close the sale, yet the legal paperwork requiring something completely different seems to border on fraudulent. I was billed for the initial service and then for several additional months, even though I did not knowingly approve. A second issue happened yesterday. I received an email saying service was completed at my home. I checked my security cameras (I have 4 that surround my entire property) and no one came to my home. In addition, I work from home and I would have known if someone was delivering service on my property. I called in to complain and was escalated to a supervisor who checked our records and saw that the photos the service provider uploaded were not of our house. She said it was a mistake, which is a convenient excuse. How often do we allow "mistakes?" As a skeptic, I see it as a ***** *** (sales and service guys are all young guys) who is playing the odds. He/she delivers service for one house in the morning then uploads the same pictures for all the houses on his route. A lot of people have to work outside the home now so they won't know any better. So not only was I charged but I never received service, which is absolutely fraud. When I asked for a refund they said I had to pay a $199 cancellation fee which is ridiculous since I only agreed to one service to begin with. Rather than pay, I am stuck and would rather get value since I would end up paying about the same amount. Whether it is company policy or poor oversight of field staff, this company is engaging in fraud.Business Response

A salesman from Adaptive Environmental came to the door claiming they were in the area treating neighbors yards and asked about service. I had an ant problem in the front yard and after 4 treatments the ants were still there. The salesman claimed there was no contract you can cancel at any time and you only pay when the treatments were done meaning monthly or bi monthly. After I cancelled the contract because of poor service I was charged $199 for early termination. I called them and they said there was nothing they could do it was in the fine print of the paper I signed. I was led to believe it was me agreeing for them to perform the service. Very misleading and dishonest in my opinion.Business Response

Aptive did not follow their contract. I paid for indoor and outdoor service. Aptive technicians did not come inside to spray and only did a quick spray outside. Insects inside and out got worse this year and last year because I relied on Aptive vs buying the do it yourself spray.Business Response

I want to terminate my account and the company website will not actually provide a path to do that. I called the number as it was listed as open until 9 pm. This led to an automated system that again would provide no path to allow for the deletion of the account. I would appreciate the BBB may be able to close this account for me.Business Response

When I was approached by Aptive via door-to-door service, I had a lengthy conversation with the sales representative as I was unhappy with our current pest control services. However, I had reservations about beginning a new contract due to not knowing how long we would be in my current house as we are renters and I am in a graduate program that might require me moving sooner than expected. The sales representative told me that this was not a problem and that if I moved within the first three months and I did not want to/could not continue the service that I could cancel my contract and would not need to pay the $199 cancellation fee and that I would not need to provide any proof/documentation as I may be staying with friends/long term Airbnb. Lo and behold, the time comes where I am trying to terminate my services with Aptive and they are saying that this is impossible and they are wanting me to either pay the full $199 fee or provide extensive documentation of a new lease. They are telling me that is not a promise they could have made and therefore cannot uphold it even though I expressed that this was not what I was told when I agreed to their services.Business Response

In July I was pressured into signing up with the door to door person who said their service would be roughly a monthly application through the summer, fall, and spring that I could cancel at any time with no penalty. I was sped through signing and was told they would send me a copy of the agreement within 24 hours. Lo and behold I did not receive that agreement or the notice stating that I would have to cancel before my first service until after I attempted to cancel after the first service. Now they are charging me $199 since I am attempting to cancel the service. The customer support is also terrible, as when I respond to their texts they disconnect almost immediately and I have to wait another 2 hours for the next person to connect with me just to ask how can I help you today and then disconnect again. Their customer service has also locked me out of my account, but continues to tell me to log on to view and pay the bill and disconnects before helping with anything. The awful tactics to sell their scam and the fact that they said I could cancel any time but now I can't cancel this is a shady company using predatory sales services.Business Response

We began services with Aptive in 2023 after being rushed to sign a contract. The plan was explained and sold as being quarterly, which was fine. Service wasnt terrible, but starting in 2024 they regularly had to come for re-service because whatever they did wasnt working (weve never had issues before and were previously only being sprayed twice yearly). Despite being regularly re-serviced and supposedly being on a quarterly plan, they began constantly scheduling appointments 2-4 weeks apart (although theyre adamant they dont want to oversaturate houses with product). I had to spend so much time on the phone rescheduling because their text service wouldnt respond or reschedule. Finally in July 2024 I cancelled the service, only to be hit with a $199 discount reimbursement fee. Despite explaining how they didnt follow what they stated, they are still pushing for this to be paid. Their service doesnt work against very simple issues (I had better luck spraying myself), they dont communicate well, and their customer service is terrible. Dont get trapped into a contract, even if they tell you youll lose whatever deal by waiting. Find a local company who knows what theyre doing and are easier to work with.Business Response

We were approached by an Aptive salesperson who stated they were in the neighborhood and were offering pest treatment for a one time $50, and recurring monthly for $89/month thereafter. The salesperson informed us we could cancel at anytime and we determined we would give it a shot. After two treatments we decided we were not seeing any results and called to cancel.
That’s when we learned we had been signed up for an 18 month contract and it would cost us $289 to exit the agreement. When we agreed to the first treatment, and the subsequent month to month treatments, at no time was it ever stated there would be a fee to exit or that we were in a long term contract. We were told just to “initial here”, “sign here”, etc. We were completely fleeced by this company.
I move often for work and would never agree to an 18 month contract, as I likely will not even live in my current location in 18 months. Just an absolute scam job to steal money.Business Response

I was at work when my wife was approached at home by herself. my wife is a U. S. citizen from the Phillipines. they came in and used a deceptive aggressive sales pitch to her lying that most of my neighbors on the street signed up for their service when in fact non of them did. I called them after they were there. I agreed to try them out on a one visit basis. thwy were trying to sign us up for a 12 or 18 month contract and copied down the routing and tracking numbers of our checking account and that's when I said no way. I had to contact my bank to stop them from making electronic transfers. That was never mensioned and I would never agree to it. I would also never agree to a long term contract without some kind of a trial basis.Business Response
