In May 2024, I found on my elderly mother's bank statement a monthly automatic payment of $75 to Aptive Environmental for the previous 13 months. She did not remember the company so we called customer service for more information. They said she had an account for pest removal, but Aptive did not offer services in the area in which she lives nor have they provided any service. They said they would refund the money, and returned $75 dollars to her account, and would get approval for a complete refund of the remaining $900. In August, their customer service confirmed that they would refund the full amount and to expect a check within 3-6 weeks. On September 18, they claimed that the refund was confirmed and sent. At the start of October, they said the payment was released on October 1 and we would receive a check by the end of the month. I contacted customer service on October 29, and they gave me an email address to file a complaint with accounts payable, and stated that the money was already refunded -- which it wasn't. There have been other complaints on the BBB website and other sites about "aggressive sales tactics" from Aptive's door-to-door sales. Because of my mother's situation, I am concerned that they target elderly people and are OK with selling service contracts to them in areas where they do not actually provide services. I would like a complete refund of the money from Aptive and I would want to join any class action lawsuit against the company if targeting the elderly is standard operating procedure for the company.

I signed up for their services of pest control because they told me it would get rid of my wolf spider and fire ant problem. They’ve been out 3 times and I have more fire ants and spider plus roaches now. The sales representative told me because I was a renter and not a home owner if I can to cancel due to moving, my rental company started offering pest control, or I just wasn’t getting results for no cancellation fee because they don’t charge renters a fee. I could not read any agreement because he dropped his iPad and shattered the screen. I just want to cancel my service and not be charged a fee that I was told didn’t apply to me. The sales representative and the operations manager are both ignoring my emails about having increased pest so I called customer service who told me the sales rep lied to me and everyone pays a cancellation fee.

We walked through with the sales *** for Aptive pest control and showed all our areas of concern. He promised coverage in all the spots discussed, which included our kids playground/fort, interior garage, and basement. A contract was signed, he told us we would pay for per service 6 treatments over 12 months, but we could push out treatments/schedule our services. When I questioned the price increasing and saying per month, he again told me that it was per service over 12 months. The same day 5/30/24, as contract signed, the service technician came over to apply. I showed him all the areas the company/sale *** agreed to and he told me they could not do all of that (mainly our kids fort/play area), the service tech did some of it, but future techs did not. When we talked to a customer service supervisor they could not confirm if they could do all that. We were also told that we could schedule our services (to make sure we are home) but then when tried to schedule we are told no availability for months out and they just showed up when they wanted to. One of the times the service tech tells us we are being over-charged for the services provided. They have charged us $188 for two services, but did not do everything they promised and again 10/28/24 customer service cannot confirm if they can do it all now/future, this breaks our service agreement. We have talked to multiple customer services ***resentives, wasting hours of our time, and now 10/28 we have received a letter threatening to give our information to collections for the $188 if not paid in 10 days. We have called 4x now to cancel because they have broken our contract, and they state we have to pay an extra $199 to cancel. We are not requesting a refund of the initial treatment that was already paid. We are requesting a void of $188 bill, cancelation of our account with ******************** at no cost to us, and to never be contacted or solicit our neighborhood again (as they did the first time after being told to stop).

Sales person came to the door offering insect control service's. He made claims that the first applications were free, second I would be charged for the application. He claimed if I was unhappy with the service I could cancel after the second application with being only charged for the second application. with no other charges. Aptive scheduled a third application to my property. After being unhappy with the results I called Aptive and canceled all future services. I also contacted my credit card and blocked Aptive from additional charges. Two hours after cancelation a manager from Aptive came to my house and ask why I was upset with there services. I tole him that I seen no improvement to my insect problem. I ultimately had to trespass the person from Aptive because he would not stop harassing me about keeping there services. Now I received a letter in the mail that I owed an additional $278.00 for the last two months that I never received treatment's. upset I called the help number from Aptive ************ I got handed off to three people at Aptive before I spoke to a Supervisor (****). I explained my situation about the services and how un happy I was and that I canceled two months earlier. She said she removed the $278.00 for services never rendered. Now she explained that I will owe a $200.00 cancelation fee. When I signed up for there service. I was told by the sales person who signed me up that I could cancel with out additional charges after a second treatment of which completed. Manager just said they have no control over what the sales person told me. This is unjust and mispresenting what is hiding in the fine print of the contract. This was never disclosed to me upon singing the contract.

Entered by BBB staff LO Consumer called the business to cancel service last month. They still ended up charging her $99 for last months bill as well as $199 to cancel. They told her it was a 2 year contract which she was not aware of. When they signed up for service she was told after the first month they could cancel at anytime. Consumer states if she had known it was a 2 year contract she would not have signed up because her father passed away and she knew he would not have lived for 2 years.

I hired Aptive Environment for rodent control. I was told that my 1st service would be $99. The service was approximately $135 instead. My name and contact information on the documents were incorrect. They were supposed to send out a team member to remove the caught rodents from my house and they never did on two occasions. I did not agree to a 2 year contract with them. They will not send the signed service agreement. They will not let me cancel the subscription without paying $199 even though they did not honor their agreement with removing rodents that have been caught.

This all happened while we ***** living at our old address ****************************************. ******* List came by at 6:30 at night.. to start things off he tried to get me to buy into his deal that he was offering. After 7 TIMES telling ******* I DO NOT WANT YOUR PRODUCT he opts in and promises Aptive to treat us great with customer service at the very least and by the time 7:30 rolls around I just want the guy out of my house. This company used its salesman to make me feel UNCOMFORTABLE IN MY OWN HOME. After I REGRETFULLY signing on with Aptoce only to get the salesman out of my house at 7 at night, he send his guys at 8:30.. so as my kid is sleeping there are brooms going over his head and waking him up outside of the house, I contacted Aptive and let them know how uncomfortable I was in my own home and how I was pressured by their salesman to but this product. I called in a few times to explain the situation and fortunately I got ahold of someone that said they hear this a lot and their salesman get in trouble all the time for doing this. This was not what I wanted to hear but it did give me some hope as it sounds like I havent been the only one pressured by a salesman and didnt feel comfortable in their own home. Aptive let me know they dont operate this way and they wanted to cancel my cancellation fee. This was good news finally. Only to find out they didnt cancel my cancellation payment. So not only did they agree to eat the cancellation fee but then 2 months later after I disputed the charge they cancelled that dispute. This company is a joke and full of empty promises and their salesman will not leave your home unless you promise to buy their product. This is a terrible way of doing business and you should not be legally obligated to pay someone after they told you that you would. It have to pay them. Dont waste your time or $ with this company they are a joke and have absolutely ZERO standards

Dear BBB,I am filing a complaint against Aptive Pest Control due to misleading billing practices and false information provided during a service upgrade. For the past year, Ive been on a quarterly payment plan with Aptive, paying $179 every three months for their pest control services. After making four payments over the course of a year, my contract was supposed to be ************ September, a sales representative from Aptive came to my home, claiming that my current plan was their lowest-tier service and, surprisingly, $10 more expensive than their highest-tier plan. He suggested I upgrade to a $169 plan, promising better services, including monthly visits and additional pest treatments, while assuring me the payment schedule would remain the sameevery three months charge $169. I specifically asked if this would cost more than what I had been paying, and he guaranteed it wouldnt. Based on his promises, I agreed to the upgrade. However, after making my $179 payment in September, I was charged another $169 in October, just one month later. This was completely unexpected, as I was told the payment terms wouldnt change. I tried reaching out to Aptive to get clarification on why I was suddenly being billed monthly, but I have received no response.I feel deceived by this entire situation. I was led to believe that I was getting an upgrade with no additional cost, only to find myself paying more frequently without any prior notice. This has left me feeling frustrated and taken advantage of. I would like to cancel all services with Aptive and request a refund of the $169 charged in October. I hope that Aptive can address this issue promptly and fairly.Thank you for your assistance in resolving this matter.

Aptive, which is a pest control company, would charge my credit card each month for their services. My credit card expired and the person who comes to the house to spray asked my wife if we wanted to renew, which we did not. Three or four months later I get a letter from A.R.M. *************** (I believe A.R.M. is related to Aptive and is their collection company) saying we owe $462.00 for services rendered. I called Aptive and told them I had cancelled and they said I hadnt. I tried to do so again on the call, but they wouldnt allow me to because I was calling from a different cell phone. Therefore, I asked my wife to call as they had her cell phone on file and they said she couldnt cancel the service because I signed up for it originally, not her. I finally called Aptive using her phone and canceled the service, they however, still want to charge us $462.00 for the times they say they sprayed outside our house after the date at which we had canceled the service when their serviceman came to the house asking us if we wanted to renew our service.
