In June, 2024, an Aptive salesman knocked on my door and offered to provide pest control services. I asked for help removing moles from my yard. He sold me the company's PREMIUM plan without ever mentioning there were other options. Aptive came on site and sprayed for insects that I did not have, placed bee traps in my tree, even though I had no bee problem and placed bait boxes above the ground to have the moles eat the bait, "Difethialone" which was supposed to make them seek water elsewhere. After paying $180.83 for the initial service, I spoke to the Aptive customer support team on the phone and they switched me to the company's BASIC plan. They said they did not have a plan for just moles. The mole problem was not going away after over a month of this treatment. I called Aptive again, the service technician came out and installed another bait box with the same bait. More moles were digging up my yard. Another call to Aptive resulted in them coming on site for my next scheduled visit. They put more bait in the bait boxes and placed a chemical,"Contrac", in the moles tunnels. I was charged $96.30 for this visit. None of this worked. On 10/14/24, I called Aptive, spoke to Alexis and asked to cancel my contract. She told me Aptive does not offer services to remove moles. She cancelled my contract. I also asked for a refund of $277.13. The 3 reasons to support my claim for a refund - 1.) I was initially sold a contract for services I did not need or want, 2.) The chemicals used are not for removing moles - they are for rats and mice, 3.) Alexis told me Aptive does not do mole removal. Alexis said she would put in a request for a refund and get back to me. I never heard from her again. I then filled out a form on the Aptive website and requested a refund. I received no response. On 10/27/24, I sent an email to Aptive with the above information and requested a refund. Again, no response.

I am rejecting this response because: I asked Aptive for additional information and have not yet received a response from them.  The key to my position that I should get a full refund is that I requested service from them to address a problem that I have with moles in my yard.  I mentioned this on the day they visited my home offering their service and on several communications with them thereafter. On my last phone communication with their customer service department, their agent told me that Aptive does not provide service for moles because there are some regulations that prevent them from doing so.  In the email that I was sent I was offered a partial refund.  I responded by asking the sender if Aptive provides a service to address moles.  My response was sent on 11/27/24.  So far, I have received no response from Aptive.  I can provide a copy of their email to me and my response if you would like. Thanks for your continued attention to this matter.

      Sincerely,

I am rejecting this response because: Aptive has sent me multiple emails stating that their contract says it does not cover treatment for moles. If that is correct, why did their salesman sell me that service when all I asked for was help removing moles from my yard?  I think this is a clear case of misrepresentation on the part of the Aptive sales organization.  Because I was sold a service that did not cover the request that I made, I believe that I am entitled to a full refund.  I made this request in response to the latest email I received from Aptive but have not received a response.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:Aptive has told me that their records show they were treating my lawn for VOLES. I  have told them multiple times that I asked their salesman for treatment for MOLES. Attached are the devices I have been using for the last year. They are both devices for MOLES.  I have caught several MOLES with the trap.  I have seen photos of moles that match what I caught with the trap. I asked their salesman for MOLE treatment.
In addition, their latest email to me said there must have been some “miscommunication” about my request with their salesman at my door.  There was no miscommunication on my part.  I knew the pest I had, and still have, were MOLES. That is what asked to be treated. If there was any miscommunication, it was on the part of their salesperson in specifying to his company the pest I have.  Either by mistake or intentionally the Aptive records were created to show that I needed help with VOLES.  Only by stating I had VOLES in my yard was the salesman able to make the sale, because, as Aptive has said multiple times, they do not offer services for moles. Was it a mistake or intentional? I don’t know for sure, but either way, I was not sold a service that I asked for.  I deserve a full refund.

NOTE - I could not sent the photos of the trap and the solar mole repellers.  I can send them another way if needed.

      Sincerely,

I am rejecting this response because:The last communication that I received from Aptive was on 12/12/24.  That message said Aptive was only willing to provide a partial refund of $90.13.  On 12/17, I responded via this medium, stating that I believed a full refund was appropriate because I asked the Aptive salesman for a service to treat moles. Instead, I was sold a service that did not treat moles.  In fact, a later conversation with an Aptive service representative revealed that Aptive does not treat moles. I have not received any further communication or offer from Aptive since 12/12.  Despite the response that Aptive sent to the BBB on 12/30, they have not been in touch with me and I have never told them that I accepted any offer as a final settlement.

The bottom line is this: I asked for treatment for moles in my yard; the salesman never said Aptive does not treat moles.  Instead, he sold me a service that did not address my problem.  I did not learn that Aptive does not treat moles for over 4 months.  As such, I believe a full refund of $277.13 is appropriate, not just $96.30.

      Sincerely,

We have tried unsuccessfully to stop services from Aptive. Someone answers the phone number we are told to call and they say they will cancel it and then go on for 10 min about changing the service to decrease the price, delay the service but keep the account open, etc. Despite cancelling by email, and twice by phone, technicians keep showing up at our home weekly and we send them away. We have canceled the credit card so the automatic charges have stopped. We now feel harrassed and aren't sure what we can do to resolve this. I have just read all of the complaints by others and its all the same experience. What can we do?

In August of 2024 a door to door sales person came and offered Aptive services. I was only interested in hearing about the product they offered. He was very pushy and kept insisting I give it a try. He lied to me about what the services would treat for; such as fleas and ticks. I already have a service provider that I use for pest control. So he said anything and did anything to get me to try their services. He even used his own prepaid credit card to pay for the first service. He did not inform me that after the first service their would be a second treatment following just about 2 weeks later for ****** that I did not agree to. He also informed me that if I was not satisfied that the ****** termination fee is usually not charged if I have issues. I did not agree to a 2nd treatment 2 weeks later. He flat out lied about many things. I recently cancelled once upon further investigation and now I am being charged the early termination fee. When I explained they just kept saying I cancelled earlythey are just as pushy as the sales person in trying to force their products and services. I would like for all charges to be reversed and the account closed.

Aptive has very deceptive business tactics.Last August, a salesperson from Aptive knocked on my door in a gated community where I used to live. The gated community has clear no soliciting post signs. The sales person said that Aptive was doing treatments in other homes (which was not rue) in the gated community and therefore could offer me a special price. He added that the initial service would cost only $69.00 (family and friends discount) and that the future services would be scheduled and changed, with no obligation. Service could be cancelled at any time. I am a senior with amblyopia (grave eye sight problems) and specifically mentioned to the *** that I wanted to receive a hardcopy of the contract, that I needed traps for mice, and that I was moving out of the house in the next month or so. He said that there was no problem, so long as I cancelled service. No mention of cancellation fee.The person actually showing up for service did not have with him mice traps and so we had to reschedule. He came back after a few days, installed the traps (without wearing gloves, leaving some dark fingerprints on the attic door), and promised that somebody would come back to remove the traps within a month at no charge. This never happened. The traps were removed by a neighbor before I moved out and cancelled the contract.Aptive sent various emails and text messages trying to reschedule service and sending billing statements for services I did nor receive. Finally on October 14 a certain ****** from Aptive assured me that the contract had been deactivated, as I had requested in September, after receiving an email that an additional treatment had been scheduled announcing that a *** would be there the following Monday. I did not want this treatment. Tried to cancel and the only option I was given was to reschedule. In sum, my experience with Aptive was very messy because of some deceptive and confusing tactics.

Aptive company is a scam. I am billed for a service that never happened because I called 3 days after they spray my yard. My dogs got sick and there was no effect of their products aside from making my dogs ouke for day. So I called 3 days after. But they dont want me to cancel instead hold my account till October even after I insisted that I want a complete termination. Now I received a bill of $297. They will not cancel unless I will pay $199 for signing the contract. I was deceived. I was asked to signed the promo or initial service of $58 which I paid. And I was told that if we like the service we can call and to activate the monthly service. I called 3 days after the initial service but still they will not let me cancel. Aptive should be charged of fraud. What they do is trick people and harass by threatening you to report to collection.

Aptive had a sale *** contact us on a Evening and did a sales pitch on getting ride of insects. They said others in the neighborhood will be having their service and they will be in the area tomorrow. We received the contract after the service was done. And had no chance to cancel. We decided to continue. Therefore when the insects were not eliminated after three months we cancelled and were charged the $199 cancellation fee. This company is a high pressure sales company who has more disclaimers in their contact than I have ever seen. The most important they do not guarantee to kill the insects. They do collect money fast. We were charged immediately the $199 after cancelling even though they offered to return again and we had not responded to the offer for their return. This has been the worst company we have ever delt with. Prior to submitting this unfavorable ***ort. We discussed the refund of $199 cancellation fee. They said sorry it would not be refunded, They have detailed records of the times and our complaints. Buyer beware.

It's very disappointing that I am still dealing with this situation which Aptive Environmental refuses to take any responsibility for. I was excited when approached by Aptive representatives introducing me to the company's more environmentally friendly approach to pest control and seasonal emphasis of treatments. I have no complaints about the technicians performing those services or the scheduling of services. That being said, I have tremendous issues regarding the billing/customer service aspects of the company. After several months of excellent service with no billing issues the card authorized for payment was hacked. When I received an e-mail from Aptive that a service appointment was scheduled later that week I called and provided the updated card info for billing, which I did to each business that I have the same agreement with including ADT and US Storage. Each company took the updated info and there was no further communication required and no disruption of service. This was not true with Aptive because I spent more than 6 months via e-mail or phone calls trying to get the billing method updated but Aptive was unable to do so I terminated my contract with them in August 2024.I have since been contacted by Aptive through a collection agency that I owe $199.00 because I terminated services. A contract implies responsibilities for each party involved and I contend that Aptive did not uphold their end of the agreement as evidenced by the fact that a very basic issue of changing billing info could not be accomplished and any continued efforts to rectify the situation would be futile. I did send a check for $199.00 and gave them the option of whether or not to cash the check, which they did so I am filing this complaint and like my $199.00 back and actually think they owe me another $199.00 for their failure in upholding their end of the contract.

I did appreciate the reply stating that I would be receiving a check for $199.00 via the mail but as I stated 12/9/2024 I have yet to receive the promised funds and therefore I am not satisfied. If Aptive Environmental is true to it's previous issues which caused the problem originally I feel that resolution might occur 6 months from now.

July 25, 2024. Person aggresively would not accept CASH or cheque for their company services of spraying our lawn for bugs.

THAT IS THE POINT.  We did not have an account.  How can they open an account when we never had one.

We only paid for one service, $50, credit card, because their company rep INSISTED. would not take CASH or CHEQUE.

For some reason, paying by credit card, activated an account with this company, which NOT true. We pay by credit card all the time for other company services, but that is never considered a CONTRACT.  Where is our signature for a contact?

We are not the only people finding out they have a "contract" and are shocked when company reps come by, to do more work

When considering complaint information, please take into account the company's size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm's responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.

BBB Business Profiles generally cover a three-year reporting period, except for customer reviews. Customer reviews posted prior to July 5, 2024, will no longer be published when they reach three years from their submission date. Customer reviews posted on/after July 5, 2024, will be published indefinitely unless otherwise voluntarily retracted by the user who submitted the content, or BBB no longer believes the review is authentic. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this company, please let them know that you checked their record with BBB.

As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
