To Whom It May Concern,I am filing this complaint against Aptive Environmental due to their unethical handling of my cancellation request, unauthorized charges to my account, and refusal to provide a refund. Below are the details of my case:Service Agreement and Cancellation:I signed up for Aptives pest control service on June 14, 2024, under their 18-month Pro Plan. On September 6, 2024, I called Aptive and requested to cancel my subscription. During the call, I was informed about a $199 cancellation fee, which I explicitly declined to pay. However, the representative did not indicate that my account would remain active, nor was I informed that treatments would continue despite my cancellation request.Unauthorized Charges:Despite canceling, Aptive continued to charge my account for two services performed on September 19, 2024, and October 28, 2024, amounting to $185 per service, totaling $370. These charges were made without my consent, as I had already canceled my subscription. Their autopayment system does not allow customers to disable payments, effectively forcing me to continue paying for unwanted services that was not delivered as well.Resolution Attempts:I contacted Aptive multiple times via email and phone to resolve this issue. After much back and forth, they waived the $199 cancellation fee, but they have refused to refund the $370 charged for unauthorized services. Their justification is that the charges are valid because my account was left "active," which contradicts my clear cancellation request.Ongoing Issues:Aptives billing practices are deceptive and unfair. Their refusal to honor cancellations, combined with a payment system that restricts customers from stopping charges, feels exploitative and unethical.Requested Resolution:I am seeking a full refund of $370 for the two unauthorized charges.I appreciate BBB's assistance in resolving this matter and holding Aptive accountable for their unethical practices.

Sales *** came to my home selling pest control services in May 2022. After refusing multiple times he promised that I should give it 1 year. I signed the contract which indicated 2 years but he said he would never hold me to a 2 yr contract. In June 2022 I sent the company an email indicating dissatisfaction with services and a desire to cancel all contractual obligations. They said I signed a 2 year contract and would be penalized $199 for cancellation. Over the past 3 months I have been attempting to cancel the contract, but was told that I resigned in June 2024 for another 2 years and sent me a copy of the original contract with the dates changed. I indicated that I had not renewed my contract, having been so dissatisfied with service, and they clearly used my old contract and signature to renew. I fulfilled my 2 year contract *********, provided the required 30 day cancellation policy, now am being told this is for the ********* contract.I have had ongoing communication with them insisting I would never had signed on for 2 more years. They, however, insist I am in breach of the new contract and must pay the $199 penalty to cancel.I need to resolve this without paying this fraudulent and clearly scamming organization another *****.

I had been serviced by Terminix and received treatment on the same day, in March of 2024 I was solicited by Aptive. I said I was happy with **************** and not interested in changing. The Aptive *** said they offer more services at a better rate and would treat the same day. I was offered PRO Service at $150 and told it would provide more service than Terminix. They said, "Since we use different chemicals from Terminix, you may see activity, but it's normal, and allow 2 to 3 treatments for results." I signed after reviewing the contract but didn't like the 24-month / 12-treatment terms. Each treatment resulted in bugs never seen before so I submitted complaints. All nice, accommodating ***s would offer added service. During & following each treatment, I spoke with Supervisors who would offer an additional treatment at "No Cost" (this is no favor but part of the contract) and use their next "STRONGEST" chemical. I told them I wanted weekend service and couldn't get home for a weekday service call. They scheduled additional treatment at no cost. Polite, inexperienced technicians would come out, treat my home with ineffective chemicals, and ***eat the warning about visible activity, being the treatment ********** July of 2024, with regular complaints, auto-scheduling weekdays, I was not available, contacting them, and no sign of resolution in sight, I was offered an upgrade to "PREMIUM" service at no cost. I kept screenshots of text ensuring I was to pay $150 for the improved service. Although, the contract I signed and on file reflects $178 per month. I was charged $178 in September and still waiting for the refund. The October charge was $150. But, as of today, still waiting for the refund of $28.I have stopped contacting them, services have not improved, and the new contract I signed in July 2024 for 24 months or 16 regular service charges leaves me with no option to avoid early termination expense!

I have had inconsistent and sloppy service since I began doing business with this company. My first ********** seemed to do a fine job, was courteous but it went downhill from there. Techs over spraying door frames and windows that were just professionally cleaned, gates left open (we have dogs), incomplete service visits, and a very rude branch manager. I have not had a service visit since Oct. I called to try to cancel my service and was connected with someone who did not understand the English language very well and was only reading a script and ***eating herself to the point it felt harassing - after ***eatedly telling her no, I do not want . . . When I asked to be transferred to someone higher up, I was connected with a call *** at ** in *****, **. He read the notes in my file that said I rescheduled my **************** to October, but that is incorrect. When I asked if there were phone records of that call, he said yes but could not share them with me. He then said I would need to have 1-2 more services to avoid the cancellation fee after ***eatedly telling them that I do not want them back on my property! He refused to cancel my service without charging me $199! All I was asking of this *** was to have an honest and logical conversation of the notes he was reading from my file and my account of the situation and he refused! Very frustrating! Lastly, shortly after I began service in June, one of my dogs was poisoned by something in the backyard and almost died. Had to rush her to emergency vet for resuscitation and 24 hours in dog ICU. Cost me $2,400 and immense stress. We never could figure out what caused it. Now that I look at the timeline, it very well may have been this company and their sloppy work on the exterior of my home. From my experience, this company appears to conduct their business fraudulently and with very poor customer service.

2 young boys came to my home and wanted to spray for bugs and i said okay and wrote a check to cover the $50. charge that i agreed to pay. They asked if i was interested in allowing them to come back in the future. I did not agree to any more work. My check was turned into an auto pay process and took the first $50. out of my checking and then i saw another amount pulled from my checking account without agreeing to allow them to do more work or charge my checking account. I chased a guy off my property when they came again and called the company. they reimbursed the amount pulled from my checking (that was pulled without approval). They have continued to harrass me and try to charge me more money when i didn't sign up for any ongoing service. They finally sent me a copy of some contract that does not have my signature on it. I can only suspect that the people originally giving the first approval for $50.

They are very deceptive in their fees and billing practices. 2 young guys came to my door and made the deal sound great, didn't explain all the additional fees and the service contract. They showed up only 1 more time but continued to billed me for 4 more months. When I called to complain they wouldn't help and said that is how their service works. We paid almost $500 and they only came out 2 times for about 20 minutes to spray around the yard. The agreement made when we signed up says they should have come out at least 4 times.

I am rejecting this response because: The business did not attempt to amicably resolve the issue with me as they have stated. They sent me a short email saying they would give me a refund on only a portion of the amount I paid and stated that they had no further obligation to communicate with me. I attempted to respond to work out a final solution but they did not respond. Aptive and their employees are very deceptive in their business practices. The employees they sent to my home intentionally lied about the frequency of service, the cost of the service and the details of the contract. I paid for 5 months of services but they only visited my property twice, in which they did not perform the services their technicians promised.

      Sincerely,

A salesman named ***** ****** (I believe he works out of the **********, ** location) knocked on our door. We had recently cancelled our pest service, and Aptive sounded like a viable alternative. We signed up for service. I knew, and was concerned about the $199 cancellation fee. When I mentioned this to the salesman he said if you are unhappy with our service, that can be cancelled. After several months of service we were not happy. When techs would show up they would spend just a few minutes, spray a few areas, and leave. We could see no appreciable difference in bugs/pest around our house. When we contacted Aptive they would schedule another service. Again, just a few minutes and the tech would be gone. We contacted ***** to request cancellation, and were told to contact Aptive. When I spoke with the corporate office they said there was nothing that they could do. We were going to be charged the $199 cancellation fee ($398 total as we signed up 2 properties).I feel that the verbal agreement that the $199 cancellation could be cancelled was intentionally dishonest.I would like to have the $199 cancellation fee (total of $398 for 2 properties) returned.

Aptive Environmental had a sales agent in my neighborhood soliciting customers. When he came to my home he was friendly and polite. We sat on the porch while he explained the Aptive ******************** and that they would come out once a month. He said that December would be the last month for the year and then they would resume in April. He told me that the monthly charge would be $189 and cancellation anytime would be $199. Based on our conversation, I trusted that I would get good service according to what he told me, I agreed to get the service. When the service started, they would send an email or text saying they would be at my home in a few hours. There was no schedule, not the same week each month, morning or afternoon. Sometimes it was in the beginning of the month or the end. It was unpredictable. They could even show up on a Sunday. If they sent a message saying they would be out that afternoon and I happened to have a conflicting appointment away from home, I would still be charged. I felt that I needed to be there to open the gate because they never sent out the same person plus I wanted to let them know where there was a problem. If I didnt tell them anything, they wouldnt do anything but still charge. When December came around, I didnt hear from them and they didnt show up,In January **************************************** years. I was surprised when I was auditing my checking account that they charged me for service. They were not out to my home and spraying pest control liquids would not have adhered to the wet surfaces. I notified them that I was canceling the service.I expected to pay $10.00. The remainder of the cancellation ******* they have sent my account to a collection service for $199.I feel that the Aptive Environmental provides a poor service and maybe because I am an elderly woman, they felt I dont matter.

Aptive Environmental has very shady practices. I would get notified by email of when they were coming and was given a link to change appointment if needed. Tried numerous times and cant change appointment on website as it says there are absolutely no other times available. I had 3 different technicians at my property before I cancelled this joke of a service. None of the technicians did everything they were supposed to do and/or where they were contracted to do. I had to call and schedule multiple return visits and tell them what they needed to do. Sure they walk around a little and snap some pictures they can upload as your service documents, but I have cameras all over my property which show their failure to provide the services I was being charged for. Now that I cancelled they want their $199 early termination fee and are threatening collections. This company failed to provide the services they where under contract for which is totally unacceptable and a breach of contract. I shouldn't have to babysit their technicians to get the services completed I was being charged for.
