I am writing to express serious concerns regarding fraudulent practices and misrepresentation by Aptive Environmental. The sales representative deliberately misrepresented both the company's services and cancellation policies during the initial sale. For the past three months, I have actively attempted to terminate my service. When I first tried to cancel, I was incorrectly informed that cancellation was only possible after a six-month commitment period. Now that I have fulfilled this supposed requirement, the company continues to deny my cancellation requests. Instead of honoring my cancellation, representatives repeatedly attempt to retain my business by offering price reductions and additional services. These offers are unwanted, as my decision to cancel is final due to: The product's failure to perform as promised. The company's deceptive business practices. The overall unsatisfactory customer experience. Of particular concern is the company's handling of payment information. While they provided a "personal portal" for account management, they have effectively trapped my credit card information in their system, providing no option to remove it or stop recurring charges. This combination of misrepresentation, refusal to honor cancellation requests, and restrictive payment practices appears to be deliberately designed to retain customers against their will.Business Response

Initial transaction was Q1 2024 Person from Aptive Environmental arrives to my house in the morning while I am working in a meeting.I stand outside in the cold unable to go inside as the person kept getting my attention not wanting me to return inside before speaking with them further.I let the service agent (door to door salesman from Aptive Environmental) know I was in a meeting and they needed to leave. The salesperson refused, and said they wouldn't be able to leave just yet before going into a long conversation about the company and the good reviews, good service, etc.I was working with a family friend through another similar service and once again refused to purchase but the salesperson pushed and insisted despite me asking politely for them to leave again.I asked directly if there were any contract related catches or fees I needed to be aware of prior to signing with them, and the salesperson at my door said no. The salesperson did not convince me, so I waited for them to call their manager in *************************** and the manager on the phone said there would be no cancellation fees to worry about if I wanted to end my service at the end of the season as I only wanted to purchase 4 treatments, not 6.I asked once more, "Are there any fees that would affect me?" And the salesperson insisted that there would be no back charge for the service if I cancelled at the end of the season in December (Q4 2024). I cancelled my service with my prior exterminator and signed up with Aptive as the salesperson was pushing me and not leaving my property, and it made myself and my fianc feel extremely uncomfortable. The company signed me to 6, not 4 treatments, without my consent on their PRO plan.-Now at Q4 2024, I attempted to cancel and was denied before being hung up on by the service. I called again and received a cancellation confirmation and news that I would be obligated by Aptive to render a $199 cancellation fee. This is the first time hearing about the fee.Business Response

Aptive Environmental came door to door last summer with high pressure sales and made us feel like we had to commit to their services, or they wouldn't leave us alone. After 2 hours of them on our doorstep we agreed to try them out thinking maybe they could eliminate our mice / bug issue. The *** told us that he would wave the regular fee and only charge us $199 to start (this $199 did not include any services, it was an advance for them to set out a mouse trap). They showed up a week later and the *** never said a word to us. He set out 1 mouse trap outside, and hung a basket that looked like it was full of water on our tree. He also set out a 'mosquito' trap. None of these traps every had a single bug in them. A couple months later, they showed up to do their second service. The *** sprayed a wasp's nest and said that the wasps might come back, but this will take care of them for now. He came in and sprayed a few ants away from my son's bedroom. And I got another bill for $190. We still had mice, we still had all of the bugs, and the wasps came back. They said to keep calling them back as they 'warranty' their work, but I don't sit at home waiting on services, I have to go to work. So, we decided to cancel. Once I cancelled services, I was told that since I'm cancelling, I now owe them another $199 because I am breaching some contract. They sent the bill to collections, and I'm kind of refusing to pay, this is theft in my opinion. They want payment for a product that didn't work. They had a terrible project that did nothing, and I think it's incredibly unfair for me to have ever had to pay ANYTHING for what they provided (which was nothing). I'm looking for help to have them cancel this $199 collection against me. I really don't owe them anything, they're a hard sale door-to-door scam. This bill is currently in collections with *******************Business Response

I received a welcome back postcard from Aptive environmental in October with a $49 initial fee and a $500 gift card. I told them I wanted to be on the monthly payment of $32.50 a month. I paid the $49 in October and when they deducted the November payment on 11/22/24 they took out $218.00. Not $32.50. I have had to fight tooth and nail to get my money back. I received a check today 12/09/24 for $109.00. Half of what I was supposed to get. Now Im told I will have to wait for another paper check that could take 30 days to get here for the other $109.00. It sure didnt take them 30 days to take my money. I wouldnt even give them half a star. ????????????Business Response

An Aptive salesman was knocking on doors in my neighborhood. They offered me a one-time spraying for ants, which I agreed to for $100.00. They said they had an introductory option for a discounted first visit if I signed a contract for a first visit of $24 and subsequent monthly spraying if I signed a contract, and I declined. On 6/22/24 they charged me $100 for this one- time visit, which I paid. They subsequently sent me a contract via email saying I had signed a contract for future visits. Only their salesman's signature was on the contract. I have been out of the country since August, so I ignored their future emails. Even though they had no credit card on file for me, apparently they made future visits and that my account now totals $300.00. I never agreed to any contract for future visits. On Next Door, other neighbors are also complaining about the dishonesty and high pressure tactics of this company. This is also, in my case, elder abuse. I would like this company to be reprimanded for their dishonesty and for any balance on my so called account to be eliminated.Business Response

Aptive is breaking their service contact and pretty much penalizing me for terminating the service agreement. The service agreement states a period of 24 month or 12 standard treatments. Not only were they trying to deny the 12 standard treatment of my contract (insisting in the phone that it is 24 months) they now claim the first "initial" treatment does not count towards the 12 treatments. Nowhere in the service agreement is that clearly stipulated. Not only that: 1. said "initial" treatment costs about the same as the other treatments, so why is it different. 2. I offered to pay $175 for the last treatment they say is needed (I rescind that offer now) without them coming out to but they said I will have to pay $199 to break the contract.
I am hoping this can be resolved without involving legal proceedings (which I am willing to take to protect my right as a consumer. If they are doing this to me they are clearly doing this to others.
The desired solution is a fair separation, no charge as I have completed the terms of my contract.Business Response

I called to cancel service on 9/4/24. Ref #******** I paid $199 wich was arguably above the original cancelation fee but owell Auth code ****** They are still charging me for a service I canceled. And that they no longer provide. I have attempted to call them several times but go to a voice mail. I'm calling within the time they say and not on a major ********. But reach no one I do not want to be billed for a service I no longer should be subscribed to. Nor do I want these charges to go to collections.Business Response

In August 2022, a business approached me at my home, offering a trial service. I agreed to a one-time service for $40, with payment executed via email. No documents or terms, either physical or electronic, were provided. After the service, I was dissatisfied and informed the vendor that I would not continue. They confirmed the cessation of services via email. However, a few weeks later, they charged $300 to my credit card without authorization. When I disputed the charge, they claimed it covered unspecified fees, which were neither disclosed nor shared prior to the transaction.Business Response

Around mid May 2024 a salesman came to my house & said they were from Aptive Environmental giving his sales pitch about ************* control, telling me my neighbors already signed up for the service. The man was pressuring me so I said ok. Initial offer for the 1st application was $60 & said I had to schedule add'l treatments. I understood & gave a signed personal check for payment of the initial service, but didn't schedule any further treatments. They had me sign something upon initial contact, but I later learned it's not my signature. Someone later sprayed. I learned of a 2nd time someone came & sprayed which I didn't authorize nor receive a bill. Checking my bank account I found that someone from Aptive electronically transferred $149 out of my account on June 12th/13th which I didn't authorize. I telephoned the number for Aptive & spoke to a female & told her I did not give permission for them to take money out of my account & the female said sorry. I told them I didn't want their service & to cancel & the female said ok. I told the female that when I have work done I only pay for services received upon receiving a ******** only agreed to pay for the 1st service with Aptive of $60 which I paid by check at the time. I then contacted my bank & told them what happened & to stop payment to Aptive because it was not authorized, but still had the $149 paid to Aptive. After all of this someone later came to my house & wanted to spray again & I told them no, that I had cancelled the service. I don't know why this company is bullying me to pay for services I didn't schedule & feel this company takes advantage of me & other consumers & threatening to send *********** to collections. I received a notice dated November 15th, 2024 that I owe $199 & if not paid will go to A.R.M. Solutions, a collection agency. This company has numerous complaints on BBB which all seem very similar & Yelp also has numerous complaints. I want them to stop any collections process.Business Response
