1 starIncredibly overpriced and if you ever try to leave or cancel your service, it takes an hour or more to get someone to actually do it because they try and talk you into buying more.Review fromJUDITH C

1 starTO CUSTOMER SERVICE,ON MARCH 27, 2025, YOUR ********************** TECHNICIAN WAS SUPPOSED TO REINSTALL MY EQUIPMENT TO MY NEW ADDRESS AT ***************************************** BETWEEN 9 AM AND 12 PM.HE DID NOT ARRIVE. I RECEIVED THE ***** STATING HE WAS ON HIS WAY. AN HOUR LATER, I RECEIVED AN ***** THAT NO ONE WAS AT THE ADDRESS. HE WENT TO THE WRONG ADDRESS. WHEN I RECEIVED THAT *****, I CALLED VIVINT TO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENED AND GOT THE RECORDING THAT THERE WAS AN OUTAGE THAT THE PHONE WAIT TIME WOULD BE 82 MINUTES. AT THIS POINT, I NEEDED TO GO TO WORK SO I COULD NOT WAIT ON THE ***********, THE ONLY CUSTOMER SERVICE I CAN GET IS TO RE-SCHEDULE. SO NOW I AM PAYING FOR A SERVICE THAT I AM NOT RECEIVING FOR ANOTHER MONTH BECAUSE I CAN'T GET A TECHNICIAN UNTIL APRIL 11. I MOVED ON MARCH 6 TO MY NEW ADDRESS. I DID HAVE TO RESCHEDULE A MARCH 13TH APPOINTMENT BECAUSE I WORK AND NO ONE WAS GOING TO BE AVAILABLE TO BE HOME, THUS THE RESCHEDULE TO MARCH 27TH.HONESTLY, I THINK YOUR WHOLE SALES IS OVER-INFLATED FOR THE EQUIPMENT SERVICE. YOU SEEM TO HAVE A $2000 TO $3000 MAGIC NUMBER FOR EQUIPMENT.TWO YEARS AGO I GOT JUST A DOORBELL, ENTRY DOOR SECURITY (NOT THE DEADBOLT), AND A NECKLACE THAT COST ME $2200 WHICH I AM STILL PAYING FOR. I SHOULD HAVE LEARNED MY ******* LAST YEAR WHEN YOUR SALES PEOPLE WERE CANVASSING THE NEIGHBORHOOD, I ELECTED TO LET THEM INSTALL 3 CAMERAS. MAGICALLY THE COST OF THAT INSTALLATION WAS $2,763.IF I COULD CANCEL, I WOULD BUT I CAN'T AFFORD THAT, SO I AM STUCK WITH YOUR SERVICE FOR ANOTHER 4 YEARS. BUT I WILL CANCEL AND USE ANOTHER SYSTEM AT THAT POINT. 4 YEARS WILL NOT PASS SOON ENOUGH.IF I COULD GET ACCESS TO MY ACCOUNT I WOULD JUST PAY SOMEONE ELSE OR REINSTALL IT MYSELF. BUT NOW I CAN'T GET INTO MY ACCOUNT TO VIEW THE INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO INSTALL IT.Review fromCarlos B

1 starI have had this service for the last 5 years and last year I had trouble with one of the cameras not working so I called costumer service and they wanted to charge me like 600$ for a new one and I said no, so the sales representative said that i can pay ***** more a month and they would send a tech out any time for free so I said ok. The tech gets here puts a new plug for the camera and it starts working again. This was in March of 2024. I called in the beginning of this year to cancel my service and told them that i havent used the service in almost a year and the call center said that I can't cancel until 2028 because I have a verbal contract with them. So I stopped paying the bill! How does a verbal contract stand in a court room?Review fromBrian H

1 starBad product, bad service, sketchy business practices I had Vivint for 5 years. In that time I had 3 false alarms from my indoor motion sensor. Tech support was useless and frustrating, so I removed the motion sensor. I had 2 faulty window sensors that failed to communicate with the panel and after several attempts of being on hold for a long time, talking to different tech support people, having the call dropped while on hold, I stopped using my system. When I finally had time (I put at least 2 hours aside) I called again and for $40.00 (not including shipping cost) they mailed me a new sensor. The sensor didnt work, so I had to call tech support who told me they had to activate the sensor. The sensor worked for a day and then I got a message on my app and panel saying that sensor wasnt talking to the panel again. They mailed another sensor, same issue. Third sensor, same issue. So, I finally decided to cancel when I received a bill telling my my service contract was going to increase to $37.00/mo from $32.00/mo. I only have 2 door sensors, and three window sensors. They made it very difficult to cancel my account and I could only call customer loyalty during work hours. I was unable to cancel my account on the website or the app, it had to be done over the phone. No matter how many times I told them I wanted to cancel, they kept offering to sell me a door bell camera for half the price and they offered to reduce my bill by $9.00/mo if I signed up for a 24 month CONTRACT and if I cancelled before the contract was up I would have to pay the unpaid balance. I declined the offer. Meanwhile I kept getting texts on my phone telling me to refer a friend and I was actually asked if I was interested in buying home and/or auto insurance. It took nearly 2 hours to finally cancel my account. I was paying for service with faulty sensors and spent countless hours with tech support. This company is the worst!Review fromAnnie G.

1 starAccount :I see my situation in most all of these reviews. Unethical practices. . I was signed up for a credit card that charged me nearly $4000 ( Fortiva) After 4 months i find out this company had signed me up with a separate account in another business for monitoring. After not knowing this i was missing payments . my credit crashed 65 points. they kept taking pay from checking until I had to show my signature was not the one on the contract. They shut down the credit card maccount but said i was responsible to pay the balance appx $ 3000. i have paperwork to back my claim. They told me i had 30 days free trial , which actually was 3 day free look.Even with the credit card shut down Vivint kept trying everything to take monitoring fees I My credit plunged another big tumble from 708 to 587 I want all my money back from vivint and fortiva the card they opened to pay for equipment this was a travesty ; biggest mistake ever. I'm just hoping this won't lead to me bankrupting. I need to dispute this all the way.Review fromRay F

1 starVery bad product. sensors keep falling off the wall. We had to turn if off because we could not having the beeping for sensors disconnecting all the time. Sensors are bad, they signal doors open that are not open, disconnect all the time. We only got this because of insurance but deeply regret it.Review fromKathy D

1 starI wish I could leave no Stars. VIVVINT HOME SECURITY ARE THEIVES Vivint is charging me not only for the equipment but also "monitoring service" at an address I sold in Dec 2023. I spoke with Vivint when I moved and thought the monitoring service was cancelled, I did understand the equipment loan I was my responsibility, which I have paid every month since the ****************, not only do I have to continue paying for the equipment, but I also just learned yesterday I need to continue to pay for "monitoring service" at a home that doesn't have a working alarm system. There was no room for negotiation.I am charged through two different companies, one for the equipment (Citizen) and now another from Vivint for continued monitoring a house not equipped to monitor. I'm told the two amounts are together not separate, so I'm obligated to continue to pay off the equipment and continued monthly payment of "monitoring", until paid in full or they'll send me to collections. As the others on this thread, I was on the phone with 5 different people trying to resolve this. They wouldn't waver on the "monitoring" on anything for that matter. I am forced to continue to pay for no service in return. THAT IS THEFT Situations arise, job loss, retirement, armed forces deployments and companies like Vivint take advantage of those situations. It's outright theft and they get away with it and no one helps the little man.The BBB needs to step in and shut down their atrocious business.Review fromHannah H

1 starThis company is a scam. I was sold on a month to month monitoring service. It then turned into me leasing equipment from them and paying a monthly service fee for monitoring. My sales guy, ***** told me I had a 30 day trial period and could cancel at any point with no penalty or equipment fees. I sent in a cancellation document the day I agreed to the trial because the whole thing felt shady. No one ever responded so I called customer service two weeks later and they claimed they never received my requests. I called again a week later and the same conversation happened again, except this time they said my 30 day trial was just a month fee of service. I was lied to and manipulated into getting this service. I have documentation showing I requested to cancel and they said it doesnt matter because they dont have record of a call. In the cancellation notice they provided, it clearly states call, email, or mail the document. I have tried everything I can to return the equipment and cancel and they will not allow it. Never ever trust this company.Review fromLaura T

1 starConsumer Warning: My Experience with VivintAggressive, Manipulative, and Emotionally Draining After more than 5 years as a loyal Vivint customer, I had one of the most harassing and emotionally exhausting customer service experiences of my life.I contacted Vivint because a camera and sensors werent working properly. I was told the camera had been discontinued and could only be replaced for $599or Id have to pay a $99 fee just to have a technician come out. After reluctantly scheduling an appointment, we were able to get the camera back online ourselves and decided to cancel.Thats when the nightmare started.Over the next 24 hours, I spoke with multiple agentseach one refusing to honor my simple cancellation request. I had to say "no" over 10 times. I clearly stated I had meetings to attend, but they stalled, transferred me, and repeatedly offered discounts, free equipment, and upgrades I never asked for. I was emotionally drained, yelled in front of my kids (which I deeply regret), and was left in tears. When I finally submitted a formal complaint to Vivints legal department, I made it clear that my issue wasnt just about cancellationit was about how I was treated. Their reply acknowledged the cancellation and offered me yet another retention deal. They completely ignored my concern about the aggressive and manipulative behavior I ************** be clear:No one has confirmed whether my calls were *********** one has explained if these tactics are standard *********** one has taken ownership or provided any accountability. If youre considering Vivint, ask yourself: is this how you want to be treated when its time to leave?Ive filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the *****************************, and Im sharing this publicly so that other consumers can make an informed decision before signing ***** customer should have to beg to be heard. No means no. Shame on Vivint.
