1 starI used VIVINT for about a year and a half. I had the equipment installed and the installation guy was awesome. The equipment was faulty, the window would trip all the time and my alarm system would go off almost weekly. I called support and they told me that I needed to change the settings. The settings were fine until after using it for 6 months. I moved out of the house that was being serviced. I tried to cancel numerous times and was told that I either had to pay off the equipment first or that I would have to buyout my contract. I couldn't do either of them at the time and had my account on hold. When I was able to I called and did a buyout to cancel my contract. I had gotten billed 5 days before I canceled and the *** told me that he included that monthly payment in with the buyout price and would refund me the previous payment. They never did. They canceled and I was still getting billed. I finally got a hold of a supervisor that could refund me and stop the reoccurring payments. Overall, I think that the ***s need to be retrained and the equipment is mediocre. I would not recommend this company to anyone. ADT is better.Review fromBetty F

1 starWould leave zero stars but might mess up the system. Vivint should be forced out of business, they are a predator company, preying on elderly and those less fortunate. Impossible to cancel service. Billed my mother for 3 extra months, I got involved, we paid them, as well as paid for disconnect month service bill, only to be told that they process cancellations in 30 day window, during which they billed her again. Which we had to pay to get rid of this company. Better Business Bureau - what is your role in the world? Multiple bad reviews and yet they remain in business! Are you worthless?Review fromMary F

1 starPut on the brakes, this company uses unethical practices and their sales people are trained the same way they promise you that you wont have to pay for the equipment, but later on once you have signed the contract, you not only sign the contract for monitoring service, you have also singed a contract with one of their third party partners to pay for the equipment that the sales person told you that you would not have to pay for, which a poppy up behind the monitoring contract where you signed for paying for the equipment. This company "Vivint" is a master manipulators and teaches it's practices to their sales team. I was signed up for a credit card with ******* financial services for $3800 + with an average of 3 years to pay it off, plus a 5 year contract for monitoring services of which you are a basic captive for the duration, unless you can find a company to buy you out, what a nightmare I got myself in. I have tried to work with them to cancel, and it's like pulling alligator teeth, and the language barrier with the customer service representatives makes it more difficult with them, along with them keeping accurate notes in your records of the call when you call in to talk with them....it's an extreme pure nightmare...All I can say is DONOT do business with this company do your research and find a more reputable company to do business with, these people are thieves, and they could care less about their customers. My experience with ********************** is a travesty and the biggest mistake I have ever, and I promise to continue my fight to get out of this mess, but I refuse to allow my credit to be ruined in the process, but will continue to fight tooth to nail. A far as rating them I don't see any negative stars to use, but I am forced to select (1) to submit my review.Review fromDonavan M

1 star*************, bogus business scheme. Vivint's team didn't check if my HVAC system was compatible with their smart home features yet still installed which caused my HVAC system to malfunction causing major damage to my home. It took over 2 years to get my situation partially resolved. After the terrible experience they still made me keep my Vivint subscription. You can't even use the equipment without an active vivint subscription. Meaning you pay for all of the equipment and once it's paid off you can't even use it without having to continue paying for an active subscription. You can't view anything through the camera or anything. This obviously wasn't disclosed upfront by their shiest sales representative. **************** was complete a** and overall would never recommend this company to my worst enemy or wish this experience to my worst enemy. Absolute worst company experience I've ever experienced. Even chat-*** agrees that this is unethical: Vivint is considered ethically dubious when customers are left with expensive, non-functional hardware after canceling a subscription. If the primary features of your device only work with an active subscription, youre essentially renting functionality despite owning the hardware. Consumer Backlash:Many consumers feel this model is unfair because:They invest a significant amount upfront for the equipment. They expect to use basic features even without a subscription. They feel trapped in a buy the product, rent the service scheme. Why Do Companies Do This?Recurring Revenue Model:The subscription fees are often more lucrative than the initial equipment sale. Locking functionality behind the subscription ensures a steady cash flow. The You technically own the physical devices, but in practice:You essentially buy the equipment but lease its functionality. Its like buying a high-end car but being unable to start it without a subscription to the manufacturers app. You can sit in it, but you cant drive it.Review fromSonia M

1 starThey refuse and refuse to cancel. They are saying they will take 30 days. They are saying they need to approval from their canceling to be able to cancel my service. Also, will do another extra billing. Never againReview fromJohn M

1 starWe were loyal customers for 3 years. We moved from our home and didnt need to continue our service. I was told if the new owners of the home were interested we could transfer our account to them seamlessly. I was told both the service account and remaining payments for the equipment would be transferred so we wouldnt be stuck with any remaining termination payments. Firstly this wasnt a smooth transition because I had to call Vivint multiple times before they even reached out to transfer the account. When they did finally transfer the account they only transferred the service portion and are now saying the payment for equipment is non transferable but at the same time theyre allowing the new owners of the home to use our equipment for their services!!!! How does this make any sense!!!??? They record all customer service conversations, if they listen back to the recording, they will clearly hear their customer service agent tell me both service and equipment would be transferred. This is a horrible company! very shady! Stay away!!!Review fromJOHN P

1 starWe have been a vivint customer since the day this company started. It was ok at first but the system never worked as promised. They blamed my internet when I have 1 Gbps or 1000Mbps the fastest internet you can get with **** FIBER OPTICS and I have 3 LINKSYS Routers the most expensive Routers on the market I paid $999.99 for 3 of them. VIVINT continues to tell me that its my INTERNET OR ************ is not my equipment. Everything in my home gets Speeds of 998 or 999 plugged into the router itself and WiFi everything apple tvs speed okla test I get WiFi speeds of 600 Mbps on every apple tv in every room. I check my speeds daily. Vivint is one of the worst companies I have ever had. I wish i had never gotten involved with them and everyone I told to get vivint they all are mad, The System i have had 3 upgrades I get the TOP OF THE LINE and they are still blaming my Equiptment. How is it possible when everything I own is getting Wifi speeds of 600 UP & DOWNLOAD speeds how can it be my problem? they are using the electrical outlets to get the speeds with the *** plugged directly into the ROUTER itself but all the cameras use the electrical outlets with a WiFi device for each camera plugged into an electrical outlet with 2 antennas on them. Its never worked right. My SPEEDS on the Panel are super slow & VIVINT wants to blame the customers HOME and equipment well thats not possible when everything else in my home gets this HIGH WIFI SPEEDS. It's obviously they way they are using the electrical outlets. Then last 2 CAM PRO 2 with LED LIGHTS the installer drilled holes thru my studio walls and got white Sheetrock DUST all over my MUSIC STUDIO EQUIPMENT in my STUDIO keyboards NORD STAGE 3 $4000 & ****** Montage $3799 and my ******* XK Pro organ system was $11,999 & A ****** Speaker $3999. $30K worth of equipment which could destroy my ***************** after Tipping her $80 I went into my studio to find WHITE DUST everywhere she didn't clean up none of it.Review fromMario D

1 starBait and switch !!! They quote you one price including equipment costs, but try to add an additional ***** in fees a month when they show up to install. Add insult to injury, after you cancel they will not refund your deposit of $41.47. Beware!!Review fromRobert H

1 star**Review for Vivint Security Systems**I am extremely frustrated with my experience with Vivint. After signing a contract, I quickly realized that their practices felt more like a trap than a service. When I attempted to move my security equipment to a new location, I was shocked to find out that they charge a fee for thisdespite the fact that I am already paying for the equipment itself. The contract seems intentionally designed to keep you locked in, with no easy way to exit. This lack of flexibility is incredibly disappointing and makes me feel like Im stuck in a situation with no escape. Moreover, the equipment is overpriced, which only adds to my dissatisfaction. Overall, I regret ever signing up with Vivint. It feels like dealing with a mob rather than a reputable company. I would strongly advise others to think twice before committing to this service.
