The embodiment of miserly and nickel and dime you. I will NEVER live in a Greystar property ever again. So slow I think a sloth could return an email quicker. I waited 3 weeks for a response to a question on a move out statement. I'm convinced they're saying they have a "higher than normal volume of emails just so you'll give up and won't contact them. You can't always have a higher than average number of emails, that's not how averages work. If you don't want to have to sell a kidney to afford to live at a place and then move out, avoid Greystar at all costs.

Good day to all it may concern,

I am a resident at Avant and my vehicle was towed without notice or reason. I came home to find my vehicle missing, only to learn that the manager of the complex had it towed yet he never notified me of an issue or concern regarding my vehicle. There was no email, no sticker placed on the car, no letter on my door and he had it towed away. It was very stressful and time consuming to track down my vehicle after a hard day of work. I had to take the next day off to reclaim my vehicle which cost me $495 plus day of pay from work. This all could have been avoided had the manager pulled files and/or sent out a mass email to the complex of the concern regarding the vehicle. Yet there is and was no email thus causing unnecessary stress of a paying tenant to the community. I want to be reimbursed and an apology for not having professional courtesy.

The apartment we lived in was very comfortable with beautiful surroundings. I really did enjoy living there. However, I will never rent from a Greystar owned apartment again. Two years after moving out they sent us a bill for $85. They have not replied to any of our attempts to contact them via email or phone regarding what this statement balance is for. It is the exact amount we received back as a security deposit refund over two years ago so something seems off. Even if it is just a clerical error and we do infact owe $85 that's fine. The part that has really ruined Greystar for me is their utter lack of customer service. The least they could do is call us back and explain the charges. If someone from Greystar is reading this please sit ***************** down for job counseling. He never responded to any of our attempts to contact him regarding our case. But reading these other reviews it sounds like this is just a scam they run on old renters and they're getting away with it.

I resided at an apartment in Arlington, VA, owned by Greystar Management. Both leasing office and Greystar management have violated my lease as well as Virginia to not have provided the security deposit and pro-rated rent prior to my 45-day move-out.

According to Virginia law, landlords must provide the check within 45 days after tenant move-out. It has been 62 days since I moved and I have yet to hear from the corporate office regarding the whereabouts of my check that’s valued over $1500. Greystar is violating leases and laws, and deserves to be held accountable.

Failed at every level. Failed to maintain hot water, electric, applances, elevators, and the proptery. Management was absymal and lacked any and all empathy to their team's in ablilty to fix or do anything correct. Their lastest and greatest idea was to fine us for stains on the underside of the carpet as there were no visable stains on the topside of the carpet, but ripped up the whole room with pilars and said it needed to be replaced and we were on the hook for it as we did not idenify the stains under the carpet upon move in. The head of maitance says it could not have been there when we moved in because this is his process and does this every time. HE WAS NOT WORKING THERE WHEN WE MOVED IN. Never were we shown the backside of the carpet to check upon move in. Truly hope Greystar is shutdown from ever conducting business again.

Our sons move-in day was yesterday afternoon. It has been a nightmare. Upon arriving to his assigned apartment, we found someone currently living in there! It was filthy, smelled awful, trash was piled everywhere, and there was no furniture! Property manager said to give them 2 hrs to have that person move out and to be cleaned. While the squatter did leave, the apartment was not cleaned. And after several hours, he still had no furniture. Its not livable! There were no answers, no accountability. Yet, they took out rent money on Aug 1 in order for him to move in on the 18th. We are not the not only ones experiencing this. And apparently this was an issue last year. How is it possible that management did not have apartments ready on move-in day?!?! We upheld our part of the contract BEFORE move-in, per the contract, and all they did was take was our money. This is not acceptable. Its ************** As of this morning, there is still no furniture and no one to be found for answers. DO NOT rent here, especially if you have college student.

Terrible property management of the ************** Apartments and terrible customer service staff. Apartment was rented to me with a defect in the tub, I took it due to it being a corporate relocation and I required something quick. When I moved out, they charged me for paint and carpet. I never painted and could not have done damage in 4 months and had the apartment professionally cleaned. In addition, the initial leasing period was multiple rounds of miscommunication to get things right so I could pick up keys. I had 3 maintenance issues while there with huge delays. One was for the ** in ** summer, one they never even bothered to fix the 3rd issue. Then finally, those renting from this business should be aware that although you have a lease with lease terms and end date, they trick you in the end to paying extra month(s) calling it a relet fee. So although your lease has an end date you are still supposed to give notice. That makes zero sense. Despite the fact that theyre basically a meat market cranking out apartment rentals without caring. The staff is not friendly nor professional. One told me she was eating lunch during my scheduled appointment. I shouldve left then. I will tell anyone I know, particularly expats and people looking for corporate relocation housing with my company to steer clear of this scam of a place.Lots of bad reviews here and other sites where there is smoke there is fire. Beware!!!!

This company is a cheat and fraud. I moved in ****** 2022 with a year lease and because my job wants me to relocate to another state. I paid over $5000 to break my lease when I moved out 25Feb2023.Up till today 18Aug2023, they havent refunded my security deposit of $300. I have called and called, written so many emails, gone there physically but they keep tossing me here and there.

      1. When we first moved in the parking matrix gate came down on the back of our car.2. The parking matrix is ALWAYS broken. You are told you get reimbursed for ubers/lyft rides if the matrix is broken, but it takes forever to get reimbursed, sometimes they forget & have to be reminded. Not to mention the inconvenience this causes especially when you have a pet.3. It takes FOREVER for things to get fixed around here. We have been without hot water multiple times for more than 24 hours. When I call to let the maintenance guy know, we get told ya we know thats it. No update on when it will be fixed or anything. Ive heard many residents have been without heat/AC when its been 100 degrees which is INSANE.4. The matrix broke and a car fell on our car. They made us go through our insurance & took forever to act. They had us parking our car around downtown until it was fixed why not just give us a new spot? We finally got a new one after a week of having to move our car all over the place to avoid other destruction that happens downtown. The matrix is still not fixed (the incident was over a month ago)5. there is no security. The doors to the garage have been left open/broken. We had a package stolen from our front door in the hallway. Homeless ppl sleeping out front or in lobby.6. My moped was stolen from our secured parking garage on Saturday around 5PM - so there should have been property management on site. The cameras in the garage cut out right as someone walks over to it. SKETCHY. (It must be an inside job) I asked how the person got in the garage I was told IDK I was told they would look into it further & its been over a weekcrickets. After that happened I hung up posters in the elevator showing what my moped looks like and other info. The building manager removed them??? This whole place does not give a f*** about you. They want your money and thats it.

There were upsides and downsides to living at a Greystar-managed property (pretty good maintenance people, awful parking policies), but once you start moving out they really nickel and dime you for every additional fee they can think of. We were able to get some charges removed once we showed photographic evidence that they were made up, but others we couldn't contest. The real kicker is that they now refuse to do any kind of rental verification for past residents, which can leave you pretty stuck when you're looking for a new place later on. It's unbelievable that, after you paid them tens of thousands of dollars, they can't be bothered to answer three questions over the phone. The takeaway here is that Greystar (who owns and manages this property) doesn't give a rip about you and is just here to extract as much money as they can with as little work as possible.
