I need to have my roof replaced. The insurance company is denying my claim (legal representation is involved) and in part due to the cost of removing and reinstalling the solar panels to my roof by the roofing company. When the solar panels were put on it was made clear to us that in this circumstance it would be best to have momentum solar out to complete such work to avoid damages that the roofing company or I may end up being liable for if we were to try it without momentum solars involvement. I have called three times (waiting more than 30 minutes each time before speaking with someone) to request an invoice for the cost of removing the solar panels and re-affixing them when roofing is complete. Each time I've been told I would receive an email within 2 days. More than two months later and I still have not received this nor any good explanation why it's not been provided the previous to calls.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: Im stuck in a relationship with this business for 20 years, Ill have to have my roof replaced again eventually. Im being asked to waive all liability for 20K in solar panels, momentum solar wont guarantee their work and the Better Business Bureau obviously needs to be involved for a paying consumer to be treated like the paying consumer. Momentum solar didnt address my requests, I do not accept their response. My insurance claim is just getting started, I cant afford for momentum solar to require 60 days and multiple one hour phone calls to customer service for the next 20 years but more importantly, as I begin the process of trying to manage the roofing company and momentum solars calendars for them Im a paying customer. 15k$ and assuming all liability for damages to 20K solar panels. This place is a scam - do not do business with them

At Momentum we do guarantee our work. We stand behind our work on removing and reinstalling the system, and we stand behind our work on the original system installation. The components themselves have their own manufacturers warranties, but we do warrant our installation work.Customer Answer

Approximately February 2022 I received a lien on my house from Momentum Solar which expired on April 22, 2022. I am trying to refinance my home and for the last 4 to 5 weeks I asked Momentum to provide me the release of lien to be able to complete the process to refinance my house. Every time I called they are telling me that they have to send an email to the department (Department of Title). I was promised by a supervisor that she will call me on January 3,2023 with an update. I did not receive the promised call. This affecting my refinance and I am losing money. Please help me to get this resolve as soon as possible if not I will lose the opportunity to refinance my house.Business Response

On 12/9 I signed a contract with momentum solar to install solar panels on my house. I was told I could file a tax credit on my 2022 taxes based on the date I signed the contract. I was told I should sign 2022 because the tax credit was decreasing in 2023. I was told I could select all the details of the installation such as if I could include a battery after the home inspection that followed 3 weeks laters and that if I was not satisfied after home inspection I could back out without penalty. This was all lies. They are now trying to charge me a penalty for backing out.Business Response

I got into contract with momentum solar on Dec29th 2022. I want to cancel the contract today Jan3rd 2023. When i called the customer service to cancel or rescind the contract, i got re-directed to cancellation department where the guys from the department not cancelling the contract for whatever reason i tell them to. I was explaining the reason for change of mind, and they are still not cancelling my contract even though i have the right to rescind the contract any time. And after 45 min of talking, they hung up on me with out even cancelling the contract and telling me that they are gonna call me later. I don't want to called back and i just want to cancel the contract since i changed my mind not to go with Momentum solar. I called customer care twice after that and they themselves not able to reach out their cancellation department. They just left a note on my account saying that i want to cancel.Business Response

I'm a customer of Momentum's, I got panels installed by them on my own house. The salesperson told me I would get a $750 referral bonus for friends or family I told about Momentum. I referred my friend ******* **** to my salesman back in 2021. ******* met with him and got the quote, and he was planning to sign up with him. Momentum called him back later and said they were going to send another salesman out to talk to him, he said no need, he was signing with Boris (my salesman) but they insisted. A guy named John went out to the house, but ******* said he wasn't going to sign up with him because he wanted me to get my $750 by signing with Boris. Well, John made a group call between himself********, Boris, and the NJ sales managers (they were named Izy and Hugo) and all of them assured ******* that they would mark it in the system that I will get my $750. Now ******* has had his system installed for months, and Boris is telling me that even though the managers promised the $750, I am not getting my referral fee because the accounting department says it doesn't count as a referral in their system. This is totally unfair, if the sales manager makes a promise then the company should keep it.Business Response

We started our journey with momentum solar in July 2022 august was supposed to be our turn on date. It is now December and nothing is turned on as they have missed numerous appointments. I have asked for them to take it off the roof and let us have another company do it and they just send someone out the next day to day it will be done. Nothing happens. And now they started to bill me for the solar even though it is still not turned on. Why am I paying for something that isnt working? I really wanted this and they do not stick to their word at all. I am not wanting to pay a company that hasnt done anything for 5 months and i dont think I should have to. My power bill was 450 every month that they didnt show upBusiness Response

Momentum Solar of ********** sold ** a solar power system that was supposed to produce approximately ***** kWh of power annually. The system that was installed does NOT produce that amount. In fact it only produces about half of that. After numerous Emails and phone calls to the customer service department, the company admitted the design flaw but has not offered to complete the commitment of the original sale. I filed a complaint previously with the BBB and this is an update to that original filing. I would not recommend this company for solar power systems due to the lack of timely communication between the company and their customers and the seemingly lack of concern to fulfill their commitment to the sale of a system that works as promised. I am in the process of terminating the contract and having the faulty system removed as well as seeking reimbursement for monies spent in the interim.Business Response

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because:This Email is a follow-up to a previous compliant made in December of 2022 (#********.) After I made the original complaint, I received a phone call from *** who claimed to be with the Customer ****************** to help resolve my solar system issue and was told that the electric bill I received must have been a fluke and he asked if I would agree to wait for another bill to see if there was a pattern of mistakes. He stated that he would wait for another bill to come and for me to contact him with that **** a to discuss what we could do to resolve this ongoing issue at that time.
I did agree to wait until the next bill. After receiving my new bill, I tried to contact *** by phone and he did not answer, the call went to voicemail. I attempted to call four more times and was forwarded to voicemail every time. I left messages each time reminding him of our agreed previous conversation, and I have had no return calls as of 12:30p.m. today (2/1/2023).

We will be contacting the customer on Monday to discuss.Customer Answer

Complaint: 18655523
I am rejecting this response because:********** of Momentum Solar did contact me by phone on Monday 2/13/2023 to discuss options with our ongoing issues of our solarpanel system.
He did offer one solution to bring the inadequate system up to the promised level of production by adding MORE PANELS (which should have been installed initially) at an additional cost of approximately $30,600.
After further discussion, he stated that he could "get the price down" to $27,360. This is an unacceptable offer. He stated that he understands that the system that is installed is not what we were under the impression we were purchasing and wanted to do "more research" as to 'why' this situation occurred to begin with. I feel that this is just one more delay tactic to not actually resolve the problem.
I have been in the process of trying to resolve this situation amicably since September of 2022. After several attempts to do so via numerous Emails and phone calls and experiencing continued delays in responding to my attempts, I am left with no choice but to file yet another complaint concerning Momentum Solar

During the validation process, ****************** was asked if he understood that if he needed more power than the panels produced, that the power would come from the utility at the utility's rate. The customer stated that he understood. Momentum does have the ability to add additional panels and increase the customer's production, but adding more panels would come at an additional cost to the customer. The cost associated with these panels would have been the same if they were purchased at point of sale, or if they are purchased after point of sale.Customer Answer
Date: 02/23/2023
Complaint: 18655523
I am rejecting this response because: The discussion of adding panels was my suggestion as the Design Team made a mistake in the initial design. The mistake was acknowledged, but not addressed for almost five months from the time I originally noticed the lack of production in September of 2022. I asked that the system be brought to full production by adding more panels back in November, I was not told anything about an additional cost until one of our more recent conversations. When I was notified of an additional cost it was going to be $27,360 MORE than what we were already paying. I was never told about a reduction of produced power or I would have never purchased the system as it would have not been cost effective for us.At the time of the sale we were told that the system would work only in the daylight and that any usage after dark would be provided by my electric provider. I knew that and budgeted for the additional, minimal costs. This system only produces approximately 55% of what it was supposed to produce which is unacceptable as it only reduces our bill by about 40%. The electric bill, along with the payment for the solar system, adds up to much more than what we can afford. Again, acknowledged by Momentum's representative.
I want the system I was sold, that is all. I cannot afford to have the additional cost of having an unproductive solar system AND my electric bill. I have been asking Momentum for assistance with this problem for over five months and only after filing a complaint with the BBB did I receive any real answers from Momentum.
Either bring the system up to the production level we were promised or cancel the contract, refund my expenses to date and remove the system from my buildings.
