I had a door to door salesman in June of 2021. I felt pressured however I signed. The experiences I have had with this company are extremely unpleasant. They lie, they delay, they do not pass inspections. In October 2022 the Installers places the panels on my roof. During this install they stopped and stated that this is a fire hazard to hook up to my electric. The installer called his supervisor and was told to install. The Installer told me the supervisor will be out the next day to explain. Since last October I have called and called and been lied to and lied to. So now I have had this company prevent me from obtaining solar from any other reputable solar company because their panels are sitting on my roof. This has also prevented me from being able to sell my home. This is a horrible lying, deceitful company. DO NOT EVER SIGN CONTRACT. I am seeking a law firm to represent me to *** them for prevention of having solar power since 2021 and preventing me from being able to sell the homeBusiness Response

Momentum Solar installed a PV Solar System on *************************** house on October 1, 2021, pursuant to a lease she signed with Momentum Solar ****** Services on July 12, 2021. A permit update was required, which Momentum requested and received approval on December 28, 2021.
Momentum Solar contacted ******************** on December 20, 2021, to coordinate the scheduling of inspections. Unfortunately, ******************** instead responded that she wanted the panels removed. According to our records, ******************** called Momentum Solar on January 17, 2022, February 7,2022, February 28, 2022, March 18, 2022, raising different issues on each call. Momentum Solars Customer Service Manager then spoke to ******************* and reviewed everything with her, provided a status update on the permit updates and project status, reminded her that we still needed her cooperation to schedule inspections, and even offered her compensation to account for the delay related to the permit update, which ******************** denied.
On May 10, 2022, Momentum Solar sent ******************** a letter in the hope it would prompt her to contact Momentum Solar to provide her cooperation to complete the project. ******************** called Momentum Solar on July 5, 2022,but again stated that she wanted the system (which Momentum Solar had already fully installed) removed. On October 25, 2022, Momentum Solars Escalations Manager called ********************* ******************** stated that she didn't want to deal with the company anymore and stated multiple times to take her to court if that is what it was going to take to get the system off her roof. Momentum Solar filed an arbitration case on August 28, 2023, and ******************** has apparently decided to respond by filing this BBB complaint. Momentum Solar fully performed its installation services as required by the contract, but ******************** has refused for nearly two years to cooperate with Momentum Solar to complete final inspections and get the system energized.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: I have Momentums panels on my roof which have not passed inspection due to it is a fire hazard. The installer made myself and *********************** that they were not completing that install. One installer was training a new installer. So he stated he called his supervisor who instructed him to continue that install and I was advised I would have that supervisor over at my home the next day. I called and called but no one has come out. They are stating I have refused when in fact their horrible customer service did not make sure I had someone come back out to ensure I do not get a house fire. Since this incident in October 2022 I have asked them to remove their panels. They are unprofessional, have no worries about the electrical safety of my home. I am seeking an attorney to litigate for 2 years loss of being able to purchase solar from a reputable company, 2 years I could not sell my home, the holes that will be on my roof when the panels are removed.

The person who would be able to actually determine if a fire hazard existed is the inspector. We have repeatedly over the course of many, many months tried to schedule an inspection but ******************** has refused to cooperate. Indeed, our prior response identified numerous communications with ******************** over the course of 2021, 2022 and 2023 to move her project forward and verify for her whether any such hazard actually exists. Instead,******************** has attempted to cancel her project a number of times and has refused to cooperate to allow those inspections which would give her the very information she is seeking to occur.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: ************ states I continue to refuse. I do not want their incompetent employees back to my home. They had the installer go ahead and attach to my electric box after I was told that it is a fire hazard back in October 2022. Again I was told by that installer his supervisor stated to go ahead and complete the install. The Installer assured me his supervisor would be at my home the next day. He has never showed up and now they want me to schedule inspections??? Nooo I want their equipment removed. They hooked up into my electric box that was double tapped which in fact is a serious fire hazard. They are still hooked up. I have lost power to many outlets in my home since their install and I have had to run electrical cords for two ceiling fans. This is total incompetence and I have finally retained a litigation Attorney and saved enough to *** this company for damages. The two years that I have not been able to sell my home has affected me financially. They also did not tell me that ********************* does not cover you if you have the panels on the roof and if they do it's a lot of money. This whole experience has been based on their lies. I have called too many times that now I am not allowing them on my roof. Afraid of more damages I may incur

I had solar panels installed on my house by Momentum Solar the first week of August 2023. I have called FPL three times now and the application has not been completed or submitted by Momentum. Today Momentum tells me that a part of the installation is missing (after 7 weeks), I have called countless people and no one answers the phone. Its been over 7 weeks and the solar panels are still not working!Business Response

this is a solar panel company that installed the panels at my house on Jan 2023, we started seeing the bill reduce for the first 2 months, and all of a sudden we start paying DUKE company more than we were paying without the solar panels. I asked for an explanation and was told it was ****** fault not them, however **** assured us we haven't changed our usage at all. I keep asking for an explanation and Momentum Solar keeps giving me the run around, but they charge me monthly for the lease.Business Response

Momentum Solar has contacted the customer. We have advised ********************** that the reason her utility bill was $336 was due to having a past due balance of $191. The customer's electric charges for the recent month were $129.08 which is less than the bill she received prior to going solar. The previous bill was approximately $298. On average the customer should expect to receive approximately **** kwh annually from **** electric. ********************** will most likely see the incline of her utility bills during the summer months. The customer has received a thorough explanation of system capacities, usage, and cost comparison. She has also been given a direct contact with a billing representative should she have any further questions regarding her benefits.Initial Complaint

We signed sales paperwork with Momentum Solar on 4/1/23. Our system was installed on 5/26/23. We were advised at the time of sale that we would be up and running by summer(end of June). It is now September 19th and nothing. Many phone calls were made to the company and we get the run around and bounced from person to person. Wait days for call backs only to be told they do not know why they themselves, and also cannot get answers from the company as to why our system is not yet operational only telling us notes on the account indicate a permit issue. Permits that seem to have never been filed with the township and should have been obtained and ready prior to the system being installed on our property. Buyer beware. I would not recommend doing business with Momentum. I am unsure how they they have an A+ rating on BBB with the laundry list of complaints within the past year.Business Response

This saga started on June 13, 22, in a time-consuming meeting; I finally agreed to a worthy investment to save me loads of money. I was told that I would be able to sell unused solar energy back to FPL. The rep processed all the info & guaranteed the work would be done before Dec 22, to qualify for a government incentive. Initially, the monthly payment was $200 and quickly up to $225. He promised the panels would be up in 6 to 8 weeks. I'm still paying FPL, which avg $500. The communication with the rep faded over time. Eventually, he stopped responding. I called the company, left messages, sent emails, and nothing. Months went by, and finally, I heard from the company to let me know they were coming to install the panels in October 2022. Once the panels were installed, my system was supposed to be up and running within eight weeks. No such luck; when the inspector came to inspect, there were many issues with the system. One of them was that the installed panel was incompatible with the system in place. On another visit, the wires installed were peeled off and needed to be replaced. The permit pulled with the ********************* expired, and still, they were promising the panels, and the issues would be resolved before the permit expired. I had to stay home for inspections. Only to find out the city canceled such an inspection because the company still needs to take care of old failed inspections. The issue remains. The finance company started automatically withdrawing payments from my bank account. A "supervisor" called me to ensure he would be my contact, nothing was resolved, The panels are up, and the permit expired. Surprise, I got a call from an Escalation Manager, who promised to escalate my case and resolve the issues to have a working system. Now, I've been asked to increase my insurance liability coverage. The loan is $70K. Everyone that I worked with is no longer with the company.Business Response

We purchased two solar systems from Momentum Solar and were advised that one system (38 panels) would fully cover our usage in the unit we live in full time. The other system (10panels) would cover about 40-50% of the usage in the other attached unit which is occupied occasionally. At end of first year we over produced by ****kwh and were credited $150 by our electric company. So basically ********************** got free kWhs. I then called Momentum and paid $300 to reconfigure the systems to be divided more equally so that we would not be giving away electricity. They sent a man, *****, out whom stated he made the switch and now one system has 22 panels and the other 26 panels. My system continues to show the original configuration and my energy production still demonstrates 3 times more for one system compared to the other. I have inquired about this discrepancy for over a year and am ignored or put off. I cannot get any concrete confirmation and do not want to continue loosing the electricity my system generates.Business Response

I was convinced by momentum sales that this particular company was the best of the best and its panels and energy production could not be matched by competitors. I had my credit run (was within the acceptable range) and was denied 2 x. I was told my only option was a lease. (Little did I know at the time, it was their way of making more money from me and keeping the tax rebates to boot) I am so angry as I sit here and write this. So, a long period of waiting and promises of 101% production smiling and laughing at how I will have a zero electric bill even though they said I have to agree to a potential bill just the same. I was never EVER told I had a 3 day "cooling off" period, nor was I given a copy of my contract. After receiving outrageous bills (NO SAVINGS AT ALL) and contacting momentum numerous times as well as IG Solar, I was told to basically let the bills pour in for 3 months no matter the cost so they can figure out what their system is or is not doing...what a joke. So, my payment plan with Eversource is so minimal and isn't making any ground because this solar has been nothing but a headache. On top of my bill that has never dropped, I have a lease payment. Where is my savings?? No clue! AND whenever I reach out to them, they simply deflect and attach the contract that was signed by the way by someone I never met or even heard of. I also noticed once my contract was sent to me, that the solar production decreases and your payment increases. Is this legal? Like whom does this to innocent people? I feel this is truly 100% fraud. They lie to you to get you to sign papers and then you never hear from them again. They avoid you like a disease. RED FLAG My bill is not lower by any means. And I am still trying to get them to correct the issues without deflecting. Nevertheless, I am now seeking legal counsel because at this stage in the process I just want my roof restored to its original state. These people are ruthless and greedy in my opinion. I would RUN!Business Response

Momentum Solar has been in contact with the customer. It was explained to ****************** that she has been saving $107 per month since activation. When the customer provided Momentum Solar with her utility bills, we advised her that she had a balance of $1500 with Eversource and she was paying $0.27/kWh to Eversource (supply + delivery) which works out to a $207 bill reduction for July for which she only paid $76. After the sale was made the sales representative called into our validation phone line and we spoke to ****************** to ensure that she agreed to the terms of the contract. During the call, the customer confirmed that she did receive a copy of the contract as well.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:The $76 they are referring to is a lease payment to IG Solar. They are the finance company momentum chose for their projects. I was told I didnt qualify for the financing to buy the panels yet I have not seen where they claimed to have done a soft credit. According to the credit bureau reports on my behalf. However I am still investigating this as of this response.
Momentum stated their system would power my entire house with ease leaving us with no or very little of an electric bill. This has not been the case. They also never informed me that it takes 3 months for their system to start producing and this is why they need three months of billing history? HOWEVER. And most importantly, we had only received 2 bills at the time of the sale. We were new home owners. Clearly not enough history to have designed a suitable system for our home of almost **** sf. When I stated this fact she became defensive, snarky, very abrasive and down right rude in her tone. Her words were, so you are admitting that you use too much electricity? Super unprofessional and thats where I ended our conversation. She also stated that I would have to continue usage of the current system for a full year before they would Re evaluate.
Momentum also did not provide me with a contract until a few weeks ago via email. Nor did they advise me I was able to change my mind. And had a period of time to do so. Nor do I see the signature of the sales women that came to my home that night on any of the paperwork. Some random name of an individual Ive never met. This is also questionable to me
I feel momentum is out to just sell these panels at all costs to the homeowners. They dont care what happens after the sale is complete. I feel this is evident in my situation.
I have asked momentum to either remove their system and null and void this sale or to make it right, I feel its their error in the miscalculation of our usage HENCE the current situation. Their response is always to attach the contract in their emails still not resolving the issue at hand. At this point, I have reached out to legal counsel and am waiting for direction with wheather we will be having this investigated as we feel momentum and IG Solar are equally responsible and neither party has rectified or suggested a reasonable solution

On 8/21/23, while they were installing the panels, a chemical smell started seeping out of our kitchen AC vents. Called out the installers and said they spilled a "small" amount of wood glue but have already cleaned it out. It didn't feel like a small amount as the odor was really strong, I let them in the house to check for themselves and they went back to clean it a 2nd time. They took out a boxful of insulation which reeked of glue. It helped a little but it was still bad especially once the AC runs. After they left, I found out the bathroom adjacent to the kitchen reeks of glue as well so whatever amount of insulation they took surely wasn't enough.
Reported this immediately and followed up with both solar specialist and project liaison with requests for escalation to send someone to check our attic, but after a week of waiting and follow ups, no one has come in.
Lost all hope with Momentum to send someone back to clean up their own mess, so for my peace of mind, hired a home inspector to check the attic. Inspector found used water bottles, displaced insulation and damaged cardboard walls. Sent the report over but they are no longer responding.
It's disappointing enough that they didn't even try to fix the inconvenience they caused with the glue spill, but to be ignored after providing proof that they need to restore our attic's insulation is disturbingly unprofessional. Also, it's been 3 weeks and counting since then and have not heard back about the final inspection and activation of our panels.
They were responsive to all communications prior to the install, but afterwards it's like they can't be bothered with anything at all.Business Response
