On March 31, 2023 we met with a salesman for Momentum Solar, he promised that with our investment in Solar we would not be paying increased electric bills forever. As part of the installation we would provably have to get a new roof. Agreement signed, $4566.80 deposit made. Over the next several months Momentum gave us a roof replacement estimate $7,000.00 above what two local roofers quoted. After months of conversations, with long periods of time where they did not respond in a timely manner, we decided if we can not trust them with the roofing we can not trust them with the Solar. During the process it was also disclosed that our local power company does not provide one to one net metering but has a 60/40 net metering policy. This would mean we would need to produce 140% of our required power to break even. The solar system they proposed would not meet this threshold. The result of no responses, electricity production not being able to meet their promises or our needs we requested then demanded a refund. They once again promised to processes this and we have not received anything in over two months.Business Response

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.Additionally, I did receive the full refund check.
That said, the fact that the process to get a refund took over six months and during this process I was told that I would receive a refund less expenses incurred by Momentum was very frustrating.
It all worked out well in the end, but I would rather have been saving money with solar as promised then spending months requesting information.

I had my solar panels installed in June of 22. We noticed that there was an issue with the panel production in May of 23. We then requested that someone come out to determine why the solar panels was not producing. Someone came out in July of 23. At that time I was told that squirrels had descended on the roof and ate all the wiring to several panels on my roof. Since then we have been quoted **** for replace the wiring on the non-functioning panels. We requested to know how we could prevent this from happening again in the future. We were told that we could place ******* on the wires to prevent access by rodents. That quote was an additional 2k. Had we been told this was a possibility we would have paid the 2k initially. This was not something that was explained or offered and as such I believe that momentum solar should take some responsibility to waive the cost of repair. I have requested that a manager call us to discuss or attempt to make this cost right by negotiating the cost and taking some responsibility. To date no attempts at further conversation in regards to accountability has been made. We were told that there was a guarantee with our solar panels that covered any and everything, but then later found out that the the only thing the guarantee covers is system malfunction having to do with nothing but equipment failure. I was lied to, misinformed, and as a result am being asked to pay another **** to fix my panels. I would like some resolution, but to date we have not received any. Any offers that can be made to resolve this issue would be appreciated.Business Response

Momentum has been in contact with both Mr. and *****************. We explained to them that as per the contract, we do not cover damage from animals. We also explained to Mr. and ***************** that they can add critter guards as a preventative measure, but it is not guaranteed that the critter guards will be 100% effective. We let them know that the critter guards are an added cost and that we are willing to give them a discount. The customers stated they wanted to think about their decision.Initial Complaint

In Nov of 2022 we began a conversation With **** a salesman with Momentum Solar about the use of solar power. We came to the agreement to let Momentum install solar in our home at ******************** The main reason we accepted this deal was because **** told us our monthly solar bill would be ***** per month and ***** to NV Energy. We thought it was a great deal at the time. ******* is a Disabled American Vet and during this time frame he had surgery so **** coached ****** through the online process of all the e-signatures and Initials required. We went through all the necessary paper work and nothing was ever mentioned about the bill being more than the ***** per month. In January of 2023 we received out first bill of 237. 00. We immediately tried to reach **** but he never got back to us. Over over the next few months we tried to speak to someone at Momentum several different times and no ever returns our calls. All we really want is out of this contract so we can be done with this fraudulent contact.Momentum is not honoring the original expected cost of their Solar Program so we want out.Thank You for listening to our complaint and I sincerely hope we can end this contract.******* and *******************Business Response

Momentum has been in contact with the customer. It was explained to the Arys that per their contract, they signed up for a power purchase agreement in which they are paying for what the solar system produces which is stated in the contract. The Arys were also advised that at the time of sale a validation call was conducted to ensure that the customer was aware of the terms of the contract.Initial Complaint

My wife and I originally contracted with Momentum solar approximately August or 2021 to install solar at our home. ******* promised us that our electric bill would become a fixed amount because we would generate enough power for our home, sell excess to JEA, and coupled with the included battery backup system we would only pay for the "minimum" required connectivity service charges to JEA. I always held that this was probably an overstatement on his part and would have been happy with the "average" system output that he stated to us over 80-90% of our usage. He was allegedly from the engineering department and not sales and was just helping out due to the booming market in our area and that they were so swamped that they needed more people doing the sales work. He stated based on his "position" that they always over-engineer the system to make sure that we get the best possible results and would again have no electric bill other than the minimums that JEA charges just to be connected to the grid. The solar finally came online in February 2022. For 20 months, I just presumed I had been suckered because my system was only producing about 45-50% of our energy needs. I got a random call from Enphase in September 2023 the manufacturer for our solar products telling me there was an issue with my system and they needed to send a technician out. After multiple visits, they made some unknown changes and the app finally began reporting that our system was generating about 90-95% of our usage, exactly as promised! However, after one month, the next JEA bill came in and their app is completely incorrect. I have called multiple times to try and resolve this after Enphase was able to diagnose that our reporting meter devices are in the wrong location. Momentum's technician lied and stated he moved them but the problem persists. Supervisors won't call. Our system is too small and I would have never paid for a system that only generates 1/2 what we need for our home.Business Response

October 10, 2023 -filed a claim with ********* due to the fact that I had a leak in my roof and it destroyed my bedroom , the ceiling caved in and the floor and walls buckled. I have solar panels on my roof that are less than a year old. I called the solar company several times and asked them to remove the panels so that I could replace the roof. its costing me over $13.000 out of pocket to have the roof replaced. The solar company told me that I would have to pay them an additional $5,200 to take the panels off and reinstall them, half now and half when the job is finished. I should not have to pay for that: the panels have been on my roof for almost a year, and since then I have had leaks to my roof, therefore the inspection that they did to prepare my roof for the solar panels was sketchy at best. They have failed their own inspection twice and I'm still paying my provider, Eversource and haven't used their product yet! And my ceiling still leaks every times it rains. My resolution: Removed the panels from my roof without the $5,200 cost and pay form half the damaged roof. I've already sent them pictures of the damages that were incurred. No action taken! We met with ****** (cannot remember his last name) an employee of Momentum Solar on December 12, 2022. We discussed the installation of solar panels, cost and schedule. We signed the contract and the installation went as scheduled. Per the contract panels would be installed by April and we would begin payment on the loan by June 2023. The problem is that it is now November and we still do not have service. I have called 5 times and they told me they would have a manager return my call. I have not received a call. I called ****** and he told me he is not working with the company anymore. I am still paying and still not receiving the service and not getting any response from Momentum Solar. Thanks for any assistance. ************************* *************************** (wife)****** # ************ (momentum)Business Response

May-2023 I entered into a contract with Momentum Solar to have Solar Panels installed on my home.
- I applied for financing through ******** ********* (referred to us by Momentum through application process) with the first payment due in September
July 1, 2023- Solar panels installed on my home from Momentum Solar
July 2023- August 2023- After panels were installed, several inquires were made by me to see when the next phase of project (electrical wiring) would be scheduled/completed as my bill from ******** is coming due. I was told by Momentum Customer Service that as long as panels were not yet energized by Momentum, I would be reimbursed my monthly payments made to ******** by Momentum Solar
September- October 2023- Electrical Wiring thought to completed on September 7, panels not yet energized. September and October payments made to ******** and reimbursed by Momentum. Energization of panels delayed due to missing wiring. "Permission to operate" by city of Bridgeport and Utility Company not granted immediately due to missing wiring by Momentum.
November 1, 2023- Panels still not energized. Payment made to ******** before November 6th due date and submitted to Momentum for re-imbursement.
November 8, 2023- Notified by Momentum that the panels have finally been energized.
Nov 20, 2023- Notified by Momentum that they would not honor re-imbursement request for November although the panels were not energized by the time the financing bill was due. Was told by customer service that they only ASSIST in making payments for 2 of the first 3 months of financing bill and that the clock started once panels were installed on home. This differs in the information that I was consistently provided since the panel installation in July,Business Response
