My family was interested in a solar system/ new roof and were shopping around with different companies. Momentum Solar was one of the firms we spoke to. We had an associate at our house explaining their product and were interested until we told them we were shopping around. The associate's supervisor became increasingly pushy, asking for bank routing numbers and scheduling other workers to look at our roof. Ultimately, we decided on going with another firm. Later that week, I attempted to cancel any further consultation. I was transferred and transferred by representatives and put on hold for long periods of time. I told them of my decision that I would not be using their service. They kept me on the line pleading with me not to cancel and asked me what the other company had and telling me what they didn't have. At this point, I told them not to come and that we had no further business to discuss. During the weekend, I received e-mails and text messages about another consultation. I told them not to come, that I had expressed to corporate that I would not be using their services and any further contact was unwanted. This morning, I received ten calls in ten minutes from Momentum Solar. I gave notice to the caller that this was unwanted electronic communication and that if he persisted in contacting me I would be filing a criminal complaint with my local police for *** Statute PL ****** Aggravated Harassment in the second degree. I ended the phone call, and he then called me two more times within seconds. I have since blocked his number, turning off all notifications. This is an extremely aggressive business practice and predatory behavior. I've seen less aggressive tactics used in time-share presentations and am appalled by their behavior. I feel like this is a commonly used tactic by Momentum Solar and wouldn't be surprised if I wasn't the only person that has experienced this treatment.Business Response

When agreeing to purchase solar and replace my roof I was told that I would receive a $7000 credit that I will be able to apply to my loan. If I don't apply the $7000 buy a certain time that my bill will go up to $185 a month from $135 a month. After speaking to my tax advisor I will not be receiving the tax credit as they advised me.Business Response

Momentum Solar does not have any control of the federal tax incentive. This is a government-based incentive. Our sales representatives only advise homeowners what they could potentially be entitled to, but we are not tax professionals. We advise homeowners to speak with their tax professional for further information regarding the federal tax incentive.Customer Answer

Our family believed that installing solar panels would significantly reduce our energy bills, especially with the expectation of our family expanding. After assessing our energy consumption, Momentum suggested that 10 panels would be sufficient to generate 25 kWh/day. However, after more than two years, the actual production has declined to just 16 kWh/day on a sunny day. We want to share our experience with this company, as we find ourselves committed to a 20-year loan with no resolution in sight from Momentum Solar Panels. Unfortunately, our electric bills are steadily increasing, and we feel it's important to make others aware of our situation.Prior to the installation of solar panels, our combined JEA bill for electricity, water, and sewer was $175 per month. Currently, even with the solar panels in place, our bills are around the same amount, plus an additional $104 monthly fee for the solar panels. This situation seems incredibly unreasonable to us!Furthermore, within just two years of installation, the solar panels are already experiencing issues. We find ourselves forced to connect directly to JEA while waiting for Momentum to send someone to address the system problems. This results in additional expenses on our part for the electric bill! The ideal solution we seek is for Momentum to install the required panel that delivers the promised energy output, without us incurring any additional debt.Business Response

Momentum Solar has been in contact with the customer. Ms. ******* sent in her utility bills for a billing analysis, and the results of the billing analysis revealed that the solar system is currently not producing properly. We sent a technician out to the property on 2/5 to assess the issue. There is a scheduled appointment with an Enphase technician for 2/12 to have the solar system fixed. After reviewing the customer's utility bills, it was found that the solar system is producing at 101% which is within normal tolerance and meeting contractual obligations. Ms. ******* was advised that once the solar system is back up and running we can look into reimbursement for production loss.Initial Complaint

Momentum Solar has again advised the customer that in order to find out if there is an issue with the system, the first step in the process would be to conduct a billing analysis. Salesperson came to my house in late June and after about 8 hours, I agreed to have them install solar at no cost to me.
July 20, 2023 Engineers came to inspect my roof and prepare a plan.
August 16, 2023 Solar panels installed on roof and additional work done on my lanai.
Florida Power and Light came to inspect about a week later.
Waited three weeks to hear about the county coming to inspect...no word...called Momentum.
Called about once a week after that until late November, they called me and said the inspection would be on 12/26/23. That day I called the county and made an appointment for two days later. Momentum yelled at me....said that they had to have a rep. there and if they didn't and it failed I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE NEXT INSPECTION! They had no one available that day...changed it back to 12/26.
12/16/23 County came, Momentum did not, failed inspection.
1/8/24 Momentum came, he said it would fail and cancelled the inspection.
1/17/24 Called the company because I had heard nothing since right after the failed inspection. Was told they sent in a new permit to the County and were waiting to hear from them. Again, no resolution.
I called Sarasota County in November after they scheduled my 12/26 appt. to see what was taking so long. They scheduled me for two days later. Called Momentum....got yelled at because they said they would have to send a person to meet the county and had no one free. Said if it failed, I would have to pay for the new inspection. Changed it back.
Called today and was told that they needed to wait until THEY had a free person to meet the county. I told them that I had waited LONG enough and that I would expect they could free someone up. It is not supposed to be a long inspection. Hung up today like every day...no idea when my solar will be working. I am planning to sell my house this spring and that needs to be done...hopefully before so I can offset some of MY power bill!Business Response
