Per an advertisement seen online that the government will pay for free solar, we inquired. We did not qualify (which apparently no one ever does). ***** from Momentum came to our house in February 2023 and went over our options. Per the contract, they were going to install the panels on the front of the house, but would remove a couple of trees that *** block the sun. The panels were installed about March, but on the back of the house right under the 2 large trees the company agreed to remove. They informed us the designing of the panels required them in that spot and they install the trees before the tree removal. We were we should start to see the difference in our electric bill by about May (they said we should still have to pay at least $35 to our electric company and if there are storms or cloudy days, that could increase). Cut to **** of 2024, the trees have still not been removed, I have paid the monthly contracted amount for my solar, and a full bill from my electric company. I have called several times a month, emailed the company my electric bills and been promised they are looking into it for the past year. At this point, I want to be done with this company, I want my monthly payments I have paid for the last year refunded and them to remove their panels and never contact me again. But here I am waiting for yet another person to call me. But the sales team has no problems calling me asking me if I am interested in purchasing solar from them. You would think they would stop those calls after installation. I am ready to look into legal action at this point.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:
They sent me paperwork with computers generated signatures that are absolutely not mine and never signed any documents or anything with this company. They are trying to charge me $3000 and then install their solar panels that they have to pay for for the next 25 years then they will give me a camera when theyre finished their job. Im not accepting that I never sign anything theyre lying for document Companies out of control I want out of contract and I want my roof back. I never had a brand new roof. They took my roof off. I dont even know why they changed my roof that had no reason to change my roof. It was brand new roof.

momentum started this process in December 2023, I had become a widow in September and a really nice man sat down with me and made a lot of promises they were supposed to verify if I could get solar panels he said they did with the township and they proceeded to start the project on my home immediately indicated that it was not allowed and they were to cease installation they left the job incomplete. They put the panels to complete the job in my garage and this was in January 2024. I have tried repeated times to contact them to get the panels out of my garage to get them to either remove the panels and fix my roof at this point they are stating that I have , no insurance on my roof and I cant get in touch with them anymore. The panels are still in my garage and I can get no response. I need legal help to solve this issue.Business Response

I was told that my duke energy bill would be 35 dollars or less every single month, I have been charged 100 dollars a month for duke energy and have still an accrued balance that is not fully covered by my energy production.I was told that buying a system that was TOO big for my house which I did would ensure that I have no duke energy bill.Business Response

Momentum Solar has been in contact with the homeowner. Our service team went to the property on June 25, 2024, and resolved Mr. ****** solar system issue. The solar system is now functioning as it should. The homeowner will be reimbursed for loss of production and can expect to receive the check in the mail within 7-10 business days depending on ***** It has also been explained to ************** that he is not seeing accurate savings on his utility bills because he is currently enrolled in a budget billing program in which the utility company takes his historical usage and divides it into 12 months. It was encouraged that ************** change to regular billing and no longer use the budget billing program so that he can see exactly how he is benefiting from the solar system. The homeowner's solar system is producing at 103% which is in accordance with what was designed and signed for.Customer Answer

We hired Momentum Solar to install solar panels and backup batteries. After 6 months, they finally did. We had a note to pay for the panels and batteries of $180/month. This is what the salesman told us that is ALL we would have to pay for electricity because the panels would furnish more than enough electricity and the batteries would store the excess that would be sold to the utility company. They researched our bills and the size of our home. So, this past year, we are paying the note of $180/month PLUS an electricity bill of $100+ every month. After complaining and furnishing 12 months of our electricity bills, they agreed to install 11 more panels at an additional cost to us! In summary, they sold us something that does not work!Business Response

Momentum Solar has been in contact with the homeowner. Momentum designed the system with the information that was given to us at point of sale. The solar system was designed from square footage of the home. The homeowner is using more electricity than what could have been anticipated at the time of sale. The system is working as expected. The homeowner would benefit from adding 11 additional panels but they do not want to pay anything additional. Momentum Solar has offered the additional panels at a discounted price which the homeowner declined.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:The size of the house did not change, Momentum miscalculated the number of panels and sold us something that did not work. There is only 1 person living in the house and they had the previous electricity bills with 2 people for the previous year. Momentum is wrong.

Momentum Solar has continued to review the Eatons account. It was determined that the consumption amount was based upon the engineered square footage of the home to determine the amount of power needed for the home. The homeowner is consuming more energy than what the solar system is producing. Momentum Solar recommends the homeowner adds the additional 11 panels to make up the difference of production versus consumption.Customer Answer

Complaint: 21848415
I am rejecting this response because: Momentum Solar has suggested 11 more panels needed, so the conclusion is that the estimated the wrong number of panels in the beginning. They miscalculated in the first place. That being said, we, the homeowners, should not have to pay for the additional panels.

We made a contract agreement with Momentum solar to install solar panels on our residential roof top. The company convince us their system can eliminate our monthly electric power bill and reduce our costs by 50%, which will be the cost for the solar panels only. They make calculations based on the previous years power cost and come up with a supply and installation of 17 solar panels. Installation has been done in mid-June 2023 and the panels has been working since then. Per Momentum solar personnel explanation, the solar panels are capable of producing enough energy which the extra production which will be saved into the power grids. Based on their explanation we will be able to get credit for the extra electric power we send to the power company which means we get it back when our solar panels are not able to generate enough power during night or cloudy days. But, it turns out the solar panels were not producing enough power even to cover our daily consumptions. Due to that our monthly costs have doubled since we are paying for the electric power company and for solar panels. Based on Momentums salesperson explanation, our total monthly cost for the solar panels will be $ 70/ month. He explains to us the government will cover 30% of the installation cost - about $5000, which we will get this money during the 2023 tax return. We were instructed to pay the $5000.00 tax credit, once we get the refund, so our solar panel cost (loan) will remain $70/ month for 25 years. If we dont pay the $5000.00, our monthly loan will increase to $100 per month after June 2024. But the way the tax credit works was not as the salesperson explained it. Due to that, we were not able to get the anticipated amount of money refund from the government. I called momentum several times and tried to get clarification why the panels are not producing enough power? And ask for resolution for all of the above. But no one is trying to assist us to resolve the problem.Business Response

Momentum Solar has been in contact with the homeowner. We are currently waiting on the homeowner to send in her last three months of utility bills so that we can conduct a billing analysis to determine if there are any discrepancies with the solar system. Once the analysis is conducted, the findings will be relayed to the homeowner. The federal tax incentive is a government funded program for which Momentum Solar is only able to advise the homeowner what they may be eligible for. The incentive is based upon tax appetite and Momentum Solar does not have control over the federal incentive.Initial Complaint

One of the questions I asked when I purchased the solar was would the solar be replaced (at no charge) if there was wind damage or the roof needed to be replaced. I was told "yes." My salesman was ***** *************) and my contact was ***********************, who is no longer there. I just spoke with a **** and he told me if I had a coupon they would replace the system. A coupon? I was never given a coupon from ***** or ******* or from Momentum. This is definitely a bait and switch.Business Response

About 6 weeks ago I put $10,000 down to have my old solar panels removed a new roof put on and have the front panels put back on. It took a month of me begging and asking for any type of contact and then finally to take the solar panels off. Now it's been two weeks and I still can't get any contact from them about when you're going to fix this roof. I've already contacted my credit card company to see if I can get my money back. If they would just give me a proposed schedule and not ignore my emails it wouldn't be so scary that they may have stole my moneyBusiness Response

I contracted with them in Feb of 2024 to put a new roof and solar on my house for 62k. They have not completed the installation of the roof; it still needs the ridge vent. They failed the inspection for the solar and now I can't get anyone to come out and get it fixed or to even give me a timeline on this. I have been reaching out vie text to a couple reps for over two months but I'm not getting anywhere.Business Response
