Ive had a Pinterest account for many years. Just recently a pop-up kept filling the ********** just punched data in order to rid of this annoying pop-up. I didnt realize it was an age verification pop-up and then upon filling out the pop-up, I was immediately deactivated from Pinterest because it said I was too young for a Pinterest account (even though *** probably had the account for 13 years). I actually dont care at this point if Im deactivated forever, but I have pinned recipes from my mom who is now deceased, and I have no way to access them. If Pinterest wants to deactivate me forever thats fine, but let me get my heirloom recipes from my mom or these recipes are lost to me forever. I have tried to appeal several times to Pinterest. They keep telling me they sent a link for the appeal process, but I havent received any emails with this link. They have no live customer service whatsoever. I used to think Pinterest was a wonderful way of keeping record, but be forwarned, this can happen to you and then you will be locked out of information that you wanted to store digitally.Business Response

Pinterest suspended my account claiming, falsely, that I violated the terms of service, but I'm not sure what happened to my account. Because I DIDN'T have inappropriate information on my boards that was put there by me, I can only assume that my account was hacked. I have reached out multiple times, gotten the same form email that says I can appeal, but there is no followup and I have not been able to appeal. I can not get answers and I'm afraid someone has access to my account, but it's locked, and Pinterest won't help.Business Response

I signed up for the visual discovery engine Pinterest ten or more years ago. Very soon I learned it was the most annoying website on the Internet. I deleted the account. But it seems I merely deactivated it as opposed to deleting it. I noticed this because on a couple of websites I currently visit, the Pinterest symbol of a little red pin pops up, meaning Pinterest is following me or tracking me on the web. I dont want them to do this, I want them out of my life.I tried to log on to delete my account. But Pinterest wont let me. Instead it but gives me messages my account has been suspended for violating community guidelines, my account has been deactivated preventing me from making the slightest move to sever ties with it. I filled out a digital form on Pinterests internet page to complain about not being allowed to sign in and it responded with an email saying it would help and to click on a link in the email. The link was my own email address, so I was sending an email to myself. I filled out another form and was going to upload a couple of screen shots. But Pinterest greyed out all my upload choices so I couldnt click on any of them.Pinterest is a predator. It imposes every obstacle imaginable to keep people from leaving it. I dont like the idea of a web site that I dont use tracking my Internet habits. My goal in filing this complaint is to get my Pinterest account permanently deleted - which, by the way, it wouldnt let me do years ago, instead deactivating it. How Pinterests deceptive, manipulative practices are even legal is beyond me. I am going to report them to the government for this scam, which, as far as Im concerned, is an identity scam - using my identity for its marketing research when I dont want it to.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:Pinterest says it will respond to the online form I filled out requesting help in deleting (not deactivating) but DELETING my account.
I already went through this with Pinterest.
Please take a look at the attachment.
That is their response to my request for help in deleting my account permanently. In essence, it is no response.
it doesnt even make sense. Id like to know what this means: In order to respond, Id like to verify youre the account owner. Please respond to this email from and then it has my own personal email address which it has tinted into a link. Click on it and guess what happens I create an email to send to myself!
And that is the entire content of Pinterest helping me.
So, no, I am not satisfied with Pinterest, once again, offering to help me with an automated response.
I want to let Pinterest, BBB and everybody else know, why cant I simply log in and hit a delete (not deactivate) my account command? Why couldnt I have done that ten years ago when I got rid of Pinterest because I didnt like the way it acted, automatically downloading all this stupid, housewife junk onto my computer? The reason I keep having to come back to Pinterest about getting my account deleted is because 1) their promises to help me are a joke and dont work (see attachment),and 2) Pinterest wouldnt let me delete my account in the first place when I tried to ten years ago, it would only let me deactivate it. That was because it wanted to steal information from me. It was doing all it could do to hang onto that stolen information for as long as possible because that is how it makes money.
I dont care for these semantics Pinterest uses to cover up the fact that it is going to do everything in its power to not let you disconnect from it. And BBB, look, the response it gave you was automated. It was a careless, meaningless automated response.
I want to talk to a person at ************. I want to go step-by-step through the motions of x- not deactivating - but DELETING my stalker Pinterest account. JM.
No, another automated help offer is insufficient. It means nothing other than we will keep going around and around and around in circles with Pinterests
Sincerely,

I have requested Pinterest.com several times to remove a fraudulent profile created under my unique first and last name, that is associated with marijuana. This has made it difficult to open bank accounts, apply for jobs and background checks. Despite asking several times and sending proof of my ID, Pinterest refuses to delete the account. I did not create this profile and due to Pinterest strong SEO presence, it is the first search result on ****** when my name is typed in. I am seeking action on behalf of Pinterest.com to remove the fake profile with the username as my first and last name immediately.Initial Complaint

I signed in at pinterest.com yesterday and have been harassed by endless emails ever since that evaded my email filters. I have tried to end my pinterest.com account without success and apparently my only recourse to unsubscribe to each email. I WANT OUT OF PINTEREST.COM. I WANT TO CLOSE/END MY ACCOUNT.Business Response

I have had a open/working account with Pinterest for a number of years - if I had to guess - over 10. Recently, I was asked to verify my birthday, and my phone wasn't cooperating with entering in the correct information. There was no way to back out of the birthday query, and as a result the account was deactivated. I thought it would be a simple fix as I received an email stating my account was deactivated. There was no option to verify my birth date through Pinterest, instead I was given to options to prove my birth date through 3rd party companies. My options were to upload a copy of my DRIVERS LICENSE, PASSPORT, or BIRTH CERTIFICATE. I feel this is an extreme measure for service allowing me to save recipes. I don't believe this is a safe business practice. In the meantime, I signed up for a new account - and NO extreme verification process. My resolution would be to allow me access for 24 hours to move my saved items to another resource, and Pinterest and I will part ways. Total shifty business practices...super disappointed!Business Response

The company removed my account claiming that I violated rules, which is not and cannot be true. I believe that my account was hacked, and I approached the company to determine my privacy risk, but their only response is a firm email. The email states I will get a follow up email to appeal, which does not come. Meanwhile, I still do not have an explanation about what happened to my account, what day, or how it happened. This makes it difficult to know how to protect my information, since clearly there has been a breach. The lack of communication and customer service is appalling.Business Response

I received an email saying that my account had been deactivated and that I needed to submit a state issued ** in order to reactivate it. I did so and then received an email saying that the submission wasn't sufficient, but they didn't explain what was wrong. I emailed the company, they replied, but instead of explaining what was wrong with the ** submission they just told me to resubmit. But I don't understand the point of resubmitting if I don't know what was wrong with the submission I sent. The emails all looked auto generated so no one probably even saw any of it. The whole thing is just frustrating.Business Response
