I posted on May 8, 2025 on the main page of the Nextdoor App to alert my neighbors of my concerns with the illegal activity of a neighbor, who brutally executed my dog on my property with a shot between the eyes and a shot to the abdomen. The individual also shot and seriously injured my other dog, who did survive the incident. Upon further investigation, I found that the individual has a criminal record including convictions on gun charges. Unfortunately, the responding officer did not even run his license, so we will never know if he was licensed to carry the murder weapon. It seems to me that he should be on probation from the previous charges and not be eligible to carry and discharge guns. It is illegal to recklessly discharge firearms in a residential area within City Limits (within feet of sleeping children). After experiencing such a devastating, senseless incident, I did feel that it was appropriate to share my experience with my neighbors for their safety, and that is absolutely my right under the first amendment. Nextdoor banned me from their app for my post without sending any sort of correspondence. Recently, I discovered that I could log in again, and I did finally receive a notice that my post had been removed. I submitted a response to them, informing them that it was within my constitutional rights to post my experiences and caution my fellow neighbors (within the last couple days). Today, I see that they have disabled my account. I do not have a problem with not using the app because I refuse to support a corrupt company that infringes upon its users constitutional freedoms. They claimed it was Public Shaming. However, how can they claim to have genuine intentions when they refuse to consider the value of the safety of their users. Nobody was forcing readers attention to my post, but I am willing to bet that my neighbors would like to have that information. They are hiding an individuals deliberate dangerous behavior to not hurt feelings.Business Response

I requested that ********, which operates a social media platform of the same name, delete my account and all associated information. They refused, citing that they need to retain my information "for reasons that may include maintaining the security and integrity of our platform" and "exercising or defending legal claims". Since nothing I ever posted could possibly make their platform insecure, and there are no legal claims resulting from anything I posted, it is clear that these reasons are invalid. If granted, it would give Nextdoor the right to retain anyone's personal information indefinitely, contrary to the California Consumer Privacy Act.Business Response

In their initial responses to me, they didn't even mention they would delete it after one year. Since they have been unable or unwilling to explain why they "need" to retain my information, let alone for one year only, I can neither accept their "need" to retain my information, nor do I have have confidence in their promise that they will delete it after one year.

On May 17, 2025, a user posted a public statement on Nextdoor that identified me by my profession (dog sitter on Rover), described the dogs I was walking, referenced my exact location, and made damaging, one-sided accusations. I reported the post and the user that same day and followed up with a formal escalation on May 19 to multiple ******************** including their privacy and support teams.Despite all this, the post remains live and both reports have been marked "pending" for over 48 hours. Ive now received confirmation from ******** that they claim the user did nothing wrong. The post continues to damage my business and reputation and has severely affected my mental health I have PTSD and **************************** and am under medical care.The user also made a statement about trying to find me through *****, which I consider threatening. I believe this is a clear violation of Nextdoors own policies on harassment, shaming, and ********** requesting the BBBs help to hold Nextdoor accountable for failing to act on this harm, violating platform guidelines, and refusing to protect vulnerable users from targeted defamation.Business Response

Thank you for your initial reply regarding my complaint against Nextdoor.com (Complaint ID: *********.
While I appreciate the eventual removal of the harmful post, I want to highlight that it took four full days of repeated escalation attempts before any action was taken. During this time, the defamatory post gained traction, causing ongoing reputational harm and emotional distress. The delay directly impacted my mental healthI live with PTSD and ****************************, which were severely triggered by the public nature of this post and Nextdoors lack of immediate support.
Given this, I respectfully reiterate my request for:
Compensation of $2,500 for the emotional distress and reputational damage incurred due to the delay and lack of initial action by Nextdoor.
I hope the BBB can assist in pursuing a more appropriate resolution. If no further support can be provided, I will have to explore filing a small claims lawsuit for damages.
Please advise on the next step.

NEXTDOOR.COM incorrectly and capriciously disabled my account, purportedly because a neighbor lied I did not live at the stated address. Without verification of any kind, NEXTDOOR.COM suspended my account.I would like my account to be reactivated and an apology from NEXTDOOR.COM. In addition, because of a blatant untruth perpetrated upon me I urge NEXTDOOR.COM to permanently revoke the account of the reportee and change its own policies to avoid anyone else having the same issues.Business Response

Despite this, the content was reviewed and erroneously deemed not to violate their guidelines.After receiving the initial decision, I submitted a follow-up appeal via email, requesting supervisory review. That communication has gone unanswered. This lack of response raises concerns about the objectivity and integrity of Nextdoors content moderation process.There is a reasonable concern that the original decision may have been influenced by personal or political bias on the part of the reviewing employee. We let the neighbor know about why their account was suspended. They were excessively posting sale items in their newsfeed, which we define as spam.
The neighbor has been able to reactivate their account. They just need to login and check the box that says they will abide by the guidelines.

Nextdoor has and continues to censor and allow their moderators to control what opinions and facts can be posted on the site. My issues started a couple months ago with review team member *********** *******. I replied to a post and because he didn't like my opinion I started getting flagged. My appeals were always denied when flagged disrespectful the ones the should lose were ignored and not reviewed. Though it wouldn't matter because ND support consistently backs moderators with little to no review. As I read through these complaints it's obvious these issues are rampant and condoned by ND support.Business Response

Since I filed this with BBB leads and review members are flagging everything they don't like as to give them a reason to suspend me again. Someone made a comment about about gas prices and I responded ( that was when the Orange fellow left) it was marked disrespectful. Please tell me how and who that is disrespectful to? I have never gotten a your appeal was approved just what you see in the second attachment. As for reporting to ND as you can see by all the complaints it goes nowhere and blames the user. The paid employees are just as authoritarian and sponsor the same censorship. Can ND support explain why my comment was flagged and why I haven't heard either way about the appeal. When the gang does not approve it only takes a day or two. I'm sure ND support can come up with another one sentence response that does nothing to fix the issue. So I'm telling ND support now your moderators are biased and have ganged up to run things the way they see fit according to their personal and political beliefs. If you really gave a s*** you would do an investigation and not ask users to prove something you already know that's going on!!!

This app claims to be inclusive, claims to have a review team of our peers. If they do not appreciate your opinion, leads, moderators, and management will delete, censure, suspend your account or put you on Red only mode. They do not want to hear your opinion, they want to hear their opinion coming out of your mouth and when they dont, they are offended and take adverse action. This is bullying, this is belittling, this is the meaning this is exactly the opposite of their own policy. There are more than a few of us that are being targeted by leads and administrators. They do this in spite of the positive comments, the comments agreeing with the sentiment or people who enjoy a particular post. And there are lots of them. If it really was a review team of my peers instead of a selected handful, we wouldnt be having this discussion, my peers believe and think as I do. Our Idaho opinions, apparently conflict with the values that they have brought to this state and where they so thoughtfully provide this platform. They are hypocrites. Of the worst kind because they hide behind a keyboard or last initials to do it. Although resolution below, I had to select something, I chose contacted by the business, it does no good, been there done that. What theydo is say you may have violated community guidelines. **** *****I have no idea what they are referring to *****, native opinions do not matter we are being censored, belittled,, marginalized, Bullied, exactly what they accuse others of doing.
They do not want to hear our opinion they want to hear their opinion coming out of our mouth. The last thing they want to hear is the truth. if I expressed anything, it was an opinion, point of view, so on and so forth and its not something that I arrived at all ******nilly, it was something I arrived at with 63 years of experience, strength and Hope.
if these things really were reviewed by a panel of my peers, it would be the people that approved, agreed with, asked for more information, and commented likewise.. Not some hidden, select group of people hiding behind keyboards.
What makes it interesting is I dont have a clue what they are talking about.. I have no idea what it was then Ive done now. 28 years in Health and ************** and working with others leads me to believe that I might know what Im talking about when it comes to sociological, societal, Issues and problems. Every once in a while, the old guy knows what hes talking about in spite of imaginary precious little feelers that are offended by the truth or reality.
