On 10/15, someone on Nextdoor posted a concern about a homeless man camping out in the *****. I am familiar with this guy being reported and suggested a compassionate approach by possibly contacting the local police and homeless advocates familiar with his situation putting himself in harm. One Nextdoor poster with the name *********************** began arguing with everyone because he was upset about people not displaying some compassion. I shared his concerns and sent a private message to share what I knew about the adult in need so he would not argue and perhaps help. Next thing I know, ******* called the police "armed thugs" which frankly, wasn't appropriate so I politely messaged him that. I believe this Review Team member took offense that I defended the police and reported me unfairly. My name on Nextdoor is *********. Apparently not having an "r" on the end of my last name was enough to be booted by this Nextdoor Review Team member who I blocked because of the hostile messages from him. Most of the people posting were not using their full names so I changed mine for privacy concerns thinking it was OK. I help with local rescues and lost pets and can't seem to get my account reinstated. Thank you for your time.Business Response

We gave his neighbor advice about using their real name on Nextdoor. As a privacy feature, you can show your first name and last initial to your neighbors if you like. You do have to rejoin Nextdoor with your full real name though.Customer Answer

I appreciate you allowing me to rejoin.
I am rejecting this response because Nextdoor is not allowing me to rejoin. When I attempted to rejoin, Nextdoor gave me a message that an account already existed.
I joined with my real name the first time so I need Nextdoor to reset my account.
Thank you for your support.

Earlier today, 12 Oct 2023, I received an email to join Nextdoor. The email was sent to my secondary, "burner" Gmail account.I do not know how Nextdoor acquired this information. Neither my neighbors nor my family members have my secondary, "burner" Gmail address. I only use it to register accounts. That makes me think Nextdoor acquired it on their own somehow. This is a serious breach of my privacy. I'm deeply unsettled that Nextdoor somehow not only got my burner Gmail address, but also connected it to somewhere I used to live. I could understand my phone number, or even my primary Gmail account. But my secondary, burner Gmail account? The address is private for a reason. Now I have to change my email on multiple accounts to ensure my privacy is maintained.I want all of my personal information deleted from your database. I don't want it sold anywhere else, either. If possible, I'd also like to know how it was acquired so I can request it be deleted from those places, too. I also would like to not receive any further contact from Nextdoor, except in relation to this case. Thank you for your time and understanding.Business Response

I have requested my account deleted and all personal information removed to stop emails because unsubscribe does not work. I even filled a ticket Case # ********. I had to provide photo ids, screenshots and more. But they (*********- customer support) still refuses all requested to delete account and stop sending emails. This has to be a violation of privacy laws! I recommend never signing up for Nextdoor! I have never seen this type of behavior from a company before.Business Response

My account was disabled for not using my real name. At one time I did use MB as I also go by that. After I was told I had to use my first name only I changed to my first name only even though I go by both. Furthermore, the rules say either can be used if you use both your full first name and initials. And I had intrusions into several social media accounts this spring that were only resolved by purchasing a new laptop. A tech firm suggested the laptop was compromised with intrusion software/keylogger they could not detect, as does happen and my only solution was to no longer use that laptop. Since I purchased a new laptop I do not get security notices from ********* Instagram and several other social media apps advising of changes and asking me to prove my identity. I had to provide my drivers license though I have been on ******** for 12 years with never even a timeout or suspension. Once FBook confirmed my idenity as someone other than me was attemting to access my account my account was restored within 2 hours from the notice. I have NEVER tried to conceal my identity. That would be impossible since my name is unique - I am the only person in the entire world to have the first, last and middle name that I doBusiness Response

Neighbor is suspended indefinitely for violating the guidelines too many times. This isn't about their real name.Customer Answer

Complaint: 20706996
I am rejecting this response because: The notification I attached says my account is disabled for not using my real name. I can't get any more real than my real name of ************************ I was emailing back and forth with support about a man who goes by DG * (NOWHERE does he give his last name in full as one is supposed to do - he uses the * initial througout). In this exchange I learned it is permissible to use initials for the first name as I had in the past but I was banned for that DESPITE THE GUIDELINES. I go by *B ****** aka ************************ I believe the support member was confused and disabled my accounr in error as was done a few times in the past .... I have documented evidence of same in emails. Furthermore, I was previously disabled for not using my real name when I used *B ****** - WHICH IS *Y REAL NA*E AND ALLOWED BY GUIDELINES sent to me by support. I am a disabled single senior citizen that needs the app to find services to repair my house after a fire in April. I have never purposefully gone against the rules. One time I was disabled for telling a small petite woman the yard work I heeded done required climbing in a roof, physically too much for her. I had NO idea that was discrimintion based on ***. Rather than accept the job required physical capability to climb on a roof and into some large trees, she immediately made a post accusing me of discriminaiton. WHO GOT BANNED - *E - FOR AN ENTIRE *ONTH! I had to have someone point out to me what I did wrong - but NAIVELY!. The woman told me in direct messages she needed money and WOULD DO ANYTHING TO *AKE *ONEY EVEN IF SHE COULD NOT DO THE WORK - she's a little off it seems as she was offering to build decks and addtions to houses with NO EXPERIENCE. WHY SHOULD I BE BANNED FOR THIS? I simply did not know and she wasn't serious anyway but I GET BANNED. I'm old - I make mistakes but not intentional.

I posted information pertaining to a candidate running for local office. I was told that my post was offensive, even though my post contained facts. I was accused of misinformation, even though the info I used is public knowledge. Essentially I'm being targeted, by local individuals, that lack Relevant training. I understand the leads are not compensated, but they are violating their privilege to monitor and control posts. One reviewer explicitly stated she was offended and I've since had ever post removed. Just because someone doesn't like the information, does not mean I've violated an agreement, and if someone is offended by factually ************* that's an issue they need to tackle outside of abusing their authority.Business Response

I want my account permanently deleted. I was mercilessly bullied on this website and consequently my account was suspended for 2 weeks. Upon my account reactivation I deleted all of my posts and comments and requested that my account be deleted. They're refusing this request and have stated that they can only deactivate the account. I will never go on this website again and I'm now selling my home because someone posted where I live.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:The bullying on this site is severe. Another member posted my home address. I also had to file an order of protection against that person. Contacted Nextdoor numerous times in the last few months via two Trouble Tickets I created, and through escalations, plural, through both a Lead and then a Review Team member. The latter escalated the problem twice. He screenshot the tickets after stating he's never seen anything like this not being resolved, much less going unanswered. .Pictures uploaded merely a small sampling of our efforts to shut this down.At issue: ND created a Business Page for my husband on a monetary fishing expedition, without our permission. Many companies do so. ND did not follow Legal Due Diligence: IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO PUBLISH OUR HOME ADDRESS AS WELL AS IN A DIRECTIONS LINK! Yes, I am "screaming." Every attempt we've made to remedy this has gone unanswered. First and foremost our personal safety is our right, as it is everyone's. 1) Someone has already come to our house looking for employment. Another to buy materials. This is our HOME. SERIOUS SAFETY VIOLATION under their own terms. This was pointed out in every ticket. Including a screenshot of me telling the Review Team member should anything happen to us, our property, our business we are as of that date notifying ND they are legally responsible for damages. At Nextdoor's end for a month? Crickets.2) Reflects our business as being Closed, damaging our business, our name and therefor reputation.3) There's a link allegedly for "our" website. We purposefully have none. Click and you get an error message. Again, a blight on our name and business reputation. We're not a Brick and **************** ******* based only. We do not advertise. Not that we should explain, it will add context. Our customers are already contracted. As a Small Business we do not advertise as we already have the results we aim for. It is the sole responsibility of Nextdoor to not only IMMEDIATELY remove our listing. They MUST never again create a Business for us to Claim" in perpetuity. That is the ONLY outcome we will accept.Business Response

I am NOT a third party. My husband and I own the business. You continue to delay and rectify the fact you are ignoring oursafety and purposefully misrepresenting our business by an ad you created. The complaint and email I had to use is due to the
fact we will not "Claim" our business when Nextdoor assembled an unsolicited and entirely false business page. We have to use
the email associated with a personal Nextdoor account to get through to you. .
It will be interesting to all to see your forthcoming duck and dodge reply.

Complaint: 20689686
I am rejecting this response because:We are NOT a "neighbor" we are the complainant and the injured party that continues to be at risk- you are violating your own Safety protocols!. Again, we are NOT a "third party." We ourselves already reached out to Nextdoor on three different tickets. After that, a ND Team Lead as well as a team member of Review continued to attempt to Escalate the issue. NEITHER of them got a response other than what one of the screenshot shows. To this day you are not working on it. NO response to anyone was ever made A response with a link to "contact" Nextdoor is disrespectful and transparently void of any genuine effort to settle the situation you created. That is where we began with that route months ago. Three separate "trouble tickets" later we are at the point of nowhere through lack of inaction or concern on your part. We are here on BBB as you have purposefully ignored collective efforts by us, as well as your own Agents to remedy the situation for us that you generated. And, as evidenced by your replies, you callously continue to do so.
The only outcome that is acceptable is what we said in the first place: REMOVE in perpetuity the business advertisement page you created without our permission as Nextdoor continues to direct even more people to our residence. You are putting us at further risk the longer you refuse to act. Misrepresenting the status of our business pales in comparison to our safety concerns. Do not point us to ND "Legal." Legal should have already been presented with this matter and this should have been resolved long ago. We have more than made the effort to get a positive resolution- now make yours. DELETE THE PAGE.

First, I have NEVER subscribed to nextdoor, never would, never will, but for some reason I get daily emails about "your neighbors in [neighborhood]" 90% of these are lurid, sensational, imply racist content, etc. I have made repeated unsubscribe requests via the unsubscribe link at the bottom of these things and directly through their "help" links on their website. But every single day I get two or more emails. One mentioned the name of a business I owned that's no longer in service. It wouldn't have been relevant anyway. All I want is for nextdoor to STOP sending me emails of any kind. I want nextdoor to purge my email address and related associations from its system and leave me alone.Business Response

Complaint: 20678106
I am rejecting this response because: while I agree I have never had an account with Nextdoor because I would NEVER open an account with Nextdoor - I was nonetheless receiving one, and sometimes two daily messages from Nextdoor. These were lurid teaser posts designed to get me to open them and sign up in order to read the rest.I don't know why or how I started receiving these emails - or why their Unsubscribe links on the emails AND on their website did not work - but I received daily emails from Nextdoor re "your neighbors in [neighborhood] until I opened this complaint.NOTE: In one I noticed the name of a non-operational business I own and believe Nextdoor was likely hustling advertising. Someone from Nextdoor finally contacted me - possibly from one of my numerous website Unsubscribe pleas and said they would stop, and they have.
As for Nextdoor's "we have no record..." excuse, no, I don't accept it. Just because they can't find a record doesn't mean that one and sometimes two emails from Nextdoor hit my Inbox daily.
Solution? Let Nextdoor admit that it scours public records for small businesses to hustle for advertising, and that bombarding an individual owner with trash and spam is a definite possibility - because it happened to me.
Sincerely,

I never signed up for a Nextdoor account but I received an email from nextdoor stating that I have been sent a "gift" from a neighbor on Sept 27, 2023 whom i not only do not know but I also don't live in "*************** did not click on any of the links in the email but did believe that the sender was a legitimate nextdoor email account. On Sept 28, 2023 I received two emails from other "neighbors" which I again did not click on. Then this morning I received an email stating that "my account has been verified"...but again, i did not sign up, send, click on or verify anything with nextdoor. I tried to contact them via the form on their website but it requires me to "log into my account"....which I do not have. I then tried to search for an 800 contact number but came up empty. I don't want to keep receiving these emails. i keep clicking "unsubscribe" but I keep getting emails.Business Response

Again, I did not create an account on Sept 26th. I believe this was done by a hacker. I can not log in because I dont know the password- since I didnt create the account. To retrieve my password, for this account that I did not create, would require me to provide personal information that I am afraid to provide given that this account was made fraudulently. Please understand that my complaint is that I did not create this account and would like the business to deactivate my account rather than me providing my personal information to access this fraudulent account.
