On January ******************************************************** my subdivision with sprinklers. Personally, I have had significant damage done to my house because of the sprinklers. I attached a video showing the damage. And a pretty direct post. It was taken down. I do not think the moderators should have done that. It was very specific And important to all residents its almost like our HOA is controlling this. I would like this look into not from the standpoint of Nextdoor, but legally.

I am filing this complaint against ********, an online neighborhood networking platform, due to its failure to take appropriate action against a known scammer, ***** ******, and his brothers company, ***********************, despite multiple reports from affected users. The platform's inaction has allowed these individuals to continue defrauding members of the community, leading to financial losses for multiple victims.***** ******, operating under the guise of a contractor, and his brothers company, ***********************, have been reported by several users, including myself, for taking payment for services they either fail to complete or perform fraudulently. Many victims, including myself, have submitted reports to Nextdoor detailing their deceptive practices, yet the platform has failed to remove their accounts or issue any meaningful warning to protect other users.Despite its policies against fraudulent activity, Nextdoors lack of enforcement has directly contributed to further victimization. The platform has a responsibility to safeguard its users from scammers, but it has not demonstrated any commitment to removing fraudulent actors when legitimate concerns are raised.I am requesting that Nextdoor take immediate action by:1. Removing ***** ******, Heroes CDS Construction, and their associated accounts from the platform.2.Strengthening its fraud prevention and reporting mechanisms.3.Implementing a more transparent process for responding to scam-related complaints. If Nextdoor continues to neglect its duty to protect users, I believe regulatory action should be taken to hold the platform accountable for enabling fraudulent activity.I appreciate your time and assistance in addressing this matter. Please let me know if any additional information is needed to support this complaint.

My account has been suspended for 2 weeks on the basis that I violated community guidelines for discussing politics. On numerous occasions I have asked Nextdoor local reviewers to remove a post regarding local immigration on the basis of the racist comments and the discussions of actions that makes the community at large less safe. . I have interacted on the post. I was not rude and engaged in civil discussions. My engagement was primarily to decrease the bias in the local community. I escalated to nextdoor.com when action locally was not taken. On the escalation form I posted the exact thread that I was referencing as racist and a risk to the community. That support case number is Case # ********. Over the course of days several of my comments were removed for breaking some violation or another. All the while other comments that were rude, racist, dangerous, and violated community guidelines were allowed to stay on the post. The post was not removed. Mind you I know my viewpoints are not "in line" with most community members in the state of *****. That is not a bad thing or anything that should allow the local reviewers to discriminate against me for. My voice is valid too!!! The first attempt to silence my voice was a personal attack on my identity. I was reported for not using my real name. My account was suspended. That was a completely bogus claim as I am using my real full legal name. I had to provide my drivers license to Nextdoor to prove my identity. That is an invasion of my privacy. Then a post I made for a call to action locally to help our neighbors was deleted, there was not a reason provided for its removal. A platform that allows neighbors to police their neighbors needs to have more checks and balances. After that first suspension it has been a non-stop attack on everything I have to say. Multiple comments of mine have been hidden or removed. And yet racist comments because they align with the local reviewers have been allowed to stay online.

    Business Response

The neighbor was correctly suspended. While the neighbor is correct that other neighbors were also discussing non-local politics, we have looked at the entire thread for neighbors who also violated the guidelines.

I post about animals in need of adoption, and they suspended my account for the second time today. Why? Well posts about animals available for adoption is spam. I posted 3 times today. If there is a limit to how much I can post a day it needs to be stated. Otherwise Stop suspending my account.

I am writing to lodge a formal complaint about the egregious and selective moderation practices of Nextdoor, a platform purportedly designed to ****** local community engagement. My account was recently banned for two days for allegedly violating their rules on posting political content. However, the circumstances surrounding this action highlight a troubling pattern of capricious and inconsistent enforcement of their policies. The incident occurred in a thread titled ******** is the best governor ever, which is overtly political in nature. The thread was already filled with political content from various participants. My post was consistent with the tone and subject of the discussion, yet I was singled out and penalized. It is perplexing and nonsensical to punish a user for engaging in a thread that is inherently political, while allowing others to continue posting similar content without consequence. This kind of selective moderation undermines the integrity of Nextdoor as a fair and neutral platform. Further, this is not an isolated incident; Nextdoor appears to have a history of erratic and biased moderation decisions, as reported by other users. Such behavior stifles free expression and discourages meaningful community discourse.I urge the Better Business Bureau to investigate Nextdoors moderation practices and hold them accountable for their arbitrary enforcement of policies. Their actions create an unwelcoming and inequitable environment for users who expect a fair platform for discussion.

The neighbor is correct that they were suspended, but they are already off-suspension. The neighbor is also correct that there were others violating the guidelines. I have asked support to dig in to make sure we're not only suspending some neighbors and not others. The reason for that could be because the neighbor was the only one reported and when the moderation happened, it was only his comments rather than the entire post because the entire post wasn't reported.

I am rejecting this response because:

It is obvious the moderation is both selective and subjective. The entire thread for which I was sanctioned was a poltical post. But I was removed because a lead did not like my answer. Later the total thread was removed. But the worst part is that there is much misinformation that allowed to remain where my posts, which were validated as correct was removed for pointing out misinformation because calling something misinformation is "Public shaming" or "political discourse". I have reported the below examples and they remain.

ctive moderation. While the platforms goal is to ****** community discussion, the system often reflects neighborhood politics, social divisions, and moderator preferences rather than neutral enforcement of the rules.
    Allow me to give examples.

Nextdoors moderation system relies heavily on volunteer Leads and paid Moderators, both of whom enforce the platforms guidelines. While this structure is intended to maintain civil discussions, it  results in subjective and inconsistent enforcement of rules. Heres why:
    1. Leads Are Local Residents with Personal Biases
    Who Are They?
Leads are community members who volunteer to enforce Nextdoors rules. They are often early adopters or highly engaged users, but they are not professionally trained moderators.
    Why Its Subjective:
Since Leads are part of the same neighborhood discussions, they may favor friends, silence critics, or enforce rules selectively based on personal opinions.
Political bias, personal disputes, or disagreements over local issues can affect moderation decisions.
    2. Inconsistent Rule Enforcement
Rules Apply Differently Based on Who Reports the Post
Posts that violate Nextdoors guidelines (e.g., political debates, misinformation, personal attacks) may remain up if Leads agree with the content.
Conversely, harmless posts can be removed if a Lead dislikes the user or topic.
    Example:
One user might be flagged for divisiveness over a political post, while another posting similar content from the opposite perspective is ignored as is with my case.
    3. Lack of Transparency in Decisions
Users Are Rarely Given Specific Reasons for Removal
Nextdoor often sends generic messages when a post is removed, making it difficult for users to understand exactly which rule they violated. Again, asa happened with me.
Appeals are limited, and Leads are not required to justify their decisions.
    Example:
A post criticizing a local business might be removed for being uncivil, but a post praising the same business remains up.
    4. Political and Social Bias in Moderation
    Neighborhood Dynamics Influence Moderation
In some areas, Nextdoor is used for political organizing, and Leads may favor certain viewpoints.
Controversial topics like homelessness, crime, and policing often see posts removed or left up inconsistently depending on the Leanings of the moderators.
    Example:
In progressive areas, discussions about crime concerns might be shut down for fear-mongering, while in conservative areas, posts complaining about urban policies might be allowed but opposing views removed.
    5. Reports Are Used as a Weapon
    Mass Reporting Leads to Auto-Removals
Groups of users can coordinate to mass-report a post they dislike, even if it doesnt violate rules.
Nextdoors system may auto-remove flagged posts before a Lead even reviews them.
    Example:
A controversial post about local zoning laws might be mass-reported by users with opposing views, effectively silencing the discussion.
    6. Leads Can Abuse Their Power
    Limited Oversight from Nextdoor Corporate
Nextdoor relies heavily on volunteers and doesnt actively monitor all decisions unless flagged through official appeals.
Some Leads abuse their power by selectively enforcing rules against certain users while protecting their friends.
    Example:
A Lead might ban a user for being uncivil in a debate while allowing their own harsh comments to remain.

Nextdoors localized, volunteer-driven moderation creates an environment where personal bias, inconsistent rule enforcement, and lack of transparency can lead to subje
    Sincerely,

    **** ***********

All neighbors are responsible for their content. The neighbor was reported for posting political content in the newsfeed and action was taken on his account. The post itself was eventually removed and many other neighbors in the thread had comments moderated. The neighbor had the most comments of the neighbors and also named called several times. The suspension was valid and they are already off suspension.

On the morning of 1/26/2025, I was notified that a post of mine was seen as SPAM and was reposted too many times however this particular post was written once and posted once with good community engagement on the subject of water safety. Moderators needs to do a better job or face legal repercussions. Appeal was initiated!!

As a user and moderator on this platform, I have witnessed over the years wanton repeated violations of constitutional free speech (excluding fowl language), targeted discrimination of neighbors who are of certain political, religious affiliations or otherwise, where the comments posted by these individuals myself included, resulted in malicious (have screenshots to support above claims) flagging of posts, boasting by moderators for having eliminated such posts, hiding of comments made and suspension of accounts temporarily or indefinitely for what is perceived to be a violation of community guidelines, etc. without any clear explanation of such claims but rather regurgitation of which comments resulted in taken action without any merit to the actions. The company states like a broken record, that we may contact support for such issues which is a fruitless and pointless endeavor, resulting in a copy and paste response without verification, or assessment of any depth. This has resulted in the suspension of valuable members of the community and has caused more injury to neighbors than a positive experience so much so that out-of-app groups have appeared on other social media platforms in an effort to disengage from Nextdoor. My aim here, is to have a formal look into each and every decision to suspend a member and have either an immediate reinstatement or an explanation that merits proper research including fairness and ethical resolve. Pursuant to section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, such companies as Nextdoor have limited immunity supporting bans and suspensions however this does not apply to issues regarding personal discrimination or when constitutional rights are being violated. Such trespasses by Nextdoor merit the same class action as their prior lawsuits regarding their securities fraud as well as violation of state and federal privacy laws.

I am rejecting this response because:

Although the business wants to appear as though it is cooperating, Ive sent dozens of emails which are either ignored or are responded to with the same canned reply. Ive searched for this company and have seen thousands of the same complaints across the board, especially on here, on ********** etc. Most complaints are addressing discrimination, racism, favoritism, religious oppression and political favoritism. In reaching out to them, there is no help what so ever. In presenting them with screenshots, evidence of my complaints, discussions, etc. no measures nor steps have been taken with any reasonable effort to address the underlying issues. I am a moderator on this platform and I advise all to look elsewhere for similar forums on ******** and apps Neighbors because this so called business is in violation of basic ethics, morality and proper conduct and will eventually be sued via class action for their behavior, lack of appropriate moderation and fairness to their users.

Nextdoor.com is facilitating the sale or rehome of 4 week old puppies. This this is illegal under CA Law. **** has been reported to Nextdoor multiple time and Nextdoor has not taken the post down. This is illegal under CA law. Selling/rehoming puppies at 4 weeks old is a violation of CA law, illegal and a criminal misdemeanor. Section ****** Offering of live animal as prize or give away prohibited; prohibited sale of dog or cat under eight weeks of age. and puppies that are re-homed this young have behavioral issues and often are sick. The puppies suffer when this is done and it is animals abuse. In addition there are many time they let people post puppies that are from illegal breeders without taking the posts down.Nextdoor is disregarding CA law by not vetting and reviewing and removing these posts.

I am rejecting this response because:: Nextdoor is facilitating the sale and rehome of puppies from illegal backyard breeders. Backyard breeding (intentional or accidental) is illegal in **********. It is not up to neighbors to police the Nextdoor website. Nextdoor needs to ban the sale or rehome of all puppies no matter the sale or rehome price because some illegal breeders are happy to make $50 per puppy. The same illegal breeders are reposting puppies over and over again. Shelters are overflowing and dogs are killed daily.  People do not need Nextdoor to adopt or purchase a puppy, there are plenty of puppies in the many City and County shelters and from breeders with legal breeding permits.
