A summary of the specific circumstances: Intelius is using my name, education, past jobs, and photo for a listing. The listing is using the incorrect email. I do not own this email. This email is inactive. As such, I have no way to use the site suppression methods. The listing in question is the first result (********************************): *********************************************************** A summary of other steps taken to resolve this complaint: I have tried contacting customer support 4 times and each time, they have ignored the actual content of my message and have told me to use the same suppression methods that I have explained are not working. I have implored this business multiple times to remove the listing above. I have explained that this listing is creating problems in my job search. PeopleConnect purposefully obfuscates the process of deleting data from their website using deceptive "dark patterns". I'm a ********** resident who is attempting to have their information suppressed and kept from re-sharing under the California Consumer Privacy Act. Intelius has, in the past, said that they were suppressing the data (albeit not under CCPA.) As CCPA gives me added benefits, I'd like this information removed as soon as possible and kept from re-appearing. I've attempted to use Intelius's opt-out form but it has a high level of verification demand and is only willing to send verification codes to email addresses or telephone numbers that aren't in service. I am attempting to utilize the tools available on this site to retrieve my personal data, but after submitting my email address, I received an email notification stating that the data cannot be received because there is an existing account and I would need to be logged in to make the request. However, upon making an attempt to log into their site, I was told that my email and/or password was invalid. I then used the password reset tool, but it did not work either. So after all of that, their site provides a phone number to call "**************", However when I dial it, nothing happens. I was just recently made aware of a charge to my account by this company that had been a reoccurring charge for the last 16 months and when I called the company and explained to them what was going on and i had never used their services they filed the complaint as fraud and told me I would receive a refund for the last 12 months. After waiting 2 weeks I called the company back and they refused to issue a refund check and wouldn't send the money back to my account electronically because I had canceled the card that had been compromised, I even offered to give them a new card number they could use but they refused to do that as well. As of now my bank has recovered $29.95 and on 3/92023 we were able to dispute another charge of $29.95. that still leaves 14 more payments that this company refuses to refund that was taken fraudulently totaling $419.30Business Response

Under normal circumstances, when a user activates an account with **********************, they must provide an electronic signature authorizing Intelius to charge their payment method, including for the automatic renewal of their membership. Our Billing Terms are conspicuously explained on our registration page and in our Terms of Use. Customers are sent a confirmation email upon signup. If a user completes their initial ********************** inquiry but does NOT enter their payment information, they will not be charged and no membership will be created.
In the event of proclaimed fraud, Intelius requests the billed recipient contact us first to ensure the account in question is thoroughly investigated. When this claim can be justifiably substantiated, the account in question is disabled from further use, all memberships to be cancelled, and all charges to be returned to the payment option holder (up to 12 months due to system limitations).
**** has made changes to their purchase return authorization process. We have tried to authorize a refund on Mr. ****** account. **** is not authorizing this refund because of a flag they have placed on his account. We are working with **** to ensure that ************** and his bank have visibility into this declined refund. However, if **** does not authorize the refund we will not be able to process it further.
