On October ******* , I contacted Intelius Company to get information on a persons place of employment. They advertised they could get any information; I paid ***** for a subscription 10/23/2025 order number ********** $***** Member ID: ********* Account Pin: *** but they did not have access to employment information after having a contentious conversation with customer service representative ***** (if that was her name) she stated my account would be escalated.I then stated I wanted to cancel my account and have my ***** refunded which she stated would also be escalated, for 72 hours, which I have no idea what this meant. I asked to speak to a supervisor I spoke with someone named ****** who I explained what happened and that I would be reporting their business procedures. Please be advised that Intelius is a public records search service. We prohibit the use of the website for any non-personal purpose that involves a business transaction, which may include but is not limited to employment screening, tenant screening, or credit checks. We have determined that Ms. ***** membership was not being used in accordance with our Terms of Use. The account was cancelled on October 23, 2025, when she called in. Although an authorization was placed for $26.93, the charge was reversed back to her financial institution since it did not actually process. The authorization was cancelled, and the funds were returned, which can take 35 business days to reflect depending on the financial institution.
The 72-hour timeframe mentioned during the call referred to the Terms of Use violation review, which was explained by the representative at that time.
No further charges will be incurred, and the account remains fully cancelled. Please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Support team at ************** with any additional questions. Intelius charged my card without my consent and never refunded my money. I called customer service, and they gave me a receipt number promising a refund, but it never arrived. Ive called multiple times since then, and no one answers or helps me. This is frustrating and unprofessional. I want my refund processed immediately and confirmation sent to my email. No company should take money without permission and ignore customers afterward

Consistent with applicable laws, all material termsincluding billing details and automatic renewal termsare clearly disclosed before submitting payment information. Each user is required to check a box separately agreeing to those terms prior to being charged. Our registration page and Terms of Use clearly outline these billing details, and customers receive a confirmation email for every order placed on the site.
Upon review, the account in question was created as a trial membership on September 3, 2025, and automatically renewed for the regular monthly subscription when it was not cancelled within the trial period. The account was later cancelled online on September 21, 2025. The customer then called in on September 22, 2025, at which time we issued a refund of $35.30 back to the Mastercard ending in 2441. The customer called again on September 30, 2025, and we confirmed once more that the account remained cancelled and the refund had been successfully processed.
Refunds typically appear within 35 business days, depending on the financial institution. If Mr. **** has not yet seen the refund reflected on his account, we recommend contacting his financial institution directly, as processing times may vary. The account remains fully cancelled, and no further charges will occur.

Intelius has 2 different background results on me, I'd like them supressed/removed from the platform, that is the only goal of this "Complaint" the email associated with both is **************** i have filed a supression request on both of them via the "Opt out" link on the platform but that does not seem to be working, when search my email address the background check still comes up..it is the first search results, I'd like both of them to be supressed please, One actually appears to have been supressed properly, i'd like the other one removed please and thank you.The one i'm requesting supression of is the South Carolina ones

Mr. Merendinos right-to-delete request under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) applies to the ********* ********************** collects and maintains, such as account details, website interactions, and customer support communications. When such a request is submitted, our system verifies whether ********* exists for the provided email. The consumer may be asked to authenticate identity, log in to complete the request, or will receive confirmation if no ********* is found. Deletion also terminates accounts and cancels subscriptions. Certain limited data may be retained for fraud prevention, billing enforcement, legal compliance, or as otherwise required by law.
These rights do not extend to the publicly available information Intelius compiles into background reports. Cal. **** Code 1798.140(v)(2) clarifies that personal information does not include publicly available information, such as records lawfully made available from federal, state, or local government sources, or lawfully obtained information that is a matter of public concern. Intelius is a public records search service that compiles such data from government entities, commercial providers, and other lawful sources.
While we cannot alter individual records, we do offer the option to suppress entire background reports from appearing on our site. Based on this complaint, we located and suppressed the relevant report. This suppression also applies across our affiliated sites, including ***************, ********************, and USSearch.com. Suppression does not remove the underlying information from its original sources or prevent it from appearing elsewhere.

I did an online inquiry for a persons background check in August of 2025 and the price advertised was $2. I received the brief report as requested. I did not sign up for any account or recurring charges in any way. After checking my account recently I discovered this company, **************** has been charging my account $20 every 16 days for a total of $80 to date. I called this company and they stated that when I requested the one (1) report that they signed me up for some bulk account that costs $20 every 16 days which I NEVER agreed to or was made aware of using their online request form. They told me they would cancel my account with them and would refund me the $80 per their agent *****. I received and email stating they were only going to refund me $20 so they are $60 short on my refund. The agent refused to provide an address where I can mail legal correspondence to recover my full $80 stating they are online only and do not have an address. If no full refund is provided I will take further legal actions as this company seems to be an online scam.

I was charged 35 dollars today (12/4/2025) for a subscription to intellius without being made aware. I used the service only once weeks ago and only paid a few cents to get what I needed. I was not made aware that there would be a reoccurring charge and definitely wasn't made aware of the price. My ****** account has been hacked. I am going to cancel it as soon as get some activities completed.There are 6 different charges on my ****** account that I did not do. I called the online Intelius company to explain and ask for a refund on 2 mos of charges. The charge for October I caught and it was not charged. The August and September charges did. When I called and spoke to a manager about this.. He told me they would not refund any charges in August due to I signed an agreement that I was not eligible because HE said I signed the contract. I didn't sign the contract as I did not open this account. A fraudulent person did. I did not agree to anything since I did not open this account.

Most memberships function on a subscription model, meaning they renew automatically until the user decides to cancel, as outlined during the registration process. Our billing terms are conspicuously explained on our registration page located at this link: ************************************, and in our Terms of Use located at this link: *****************************************.
Under normal circumstances, when a user activates an account, they must provide an electronic signature authorizing charges to their payment method, including for the automatic renewal of their membership.
To ensure a thorough investigation of any disputed account, ********************** requests that the billed recipient contact us first in the event of proclaimed fraud. Once we confirm the claim, we disable the account, cancel all memberships, and return the last charge to the original payment method.
In this case, the agent had already processed refunds for the two most recent charges and canceled the account to stop any further billing. As a one-time courtesy, we have also refunded the initial $29.10 charge. A full refund has now been issued back to the payment option used to enroll, and no additional charges will occur. Please allow 35 business days for the credit to appear, depending on the financial institution.
Additionally, the account has been disabled to prevent any further access.

Intelius and its affiliates has been selling my data to anyone who has a few dollars. My personal information has been exposed which has put me at risk for harassment, identity theft, phishing, privacy invasion, reputation damage and has had a major negative social, economic impact. I have requested on 10/2/25 for my data to be removed. My emails and bank account has also been impacted and I can gather this information. I am in contact with a lawyer firm to come to a resolution but this an extreme unethical practice that puts me and my family at risk for discrimation and other attacks.
