This website known as ussearch have been illegally and with unauthorized permission have been using my name, my information, my likeness and my address also information relating to my relatives and loved ones on their website with malicious intent and borderline defamation characteristics against me, my name, and my life. This type of unauthorized use of my information and background check has caused many of problems such as encounters with police, trying to apply for jobs and community opportunities, and meeting people who are curious to know who I am. They have Information on their site claiming that I have drug dealing charges, threatening my neighbors charges, speeding tickets and traffic related charges, and assault charges claiming I have FELONIES on my record when the only town I lived in lake county has ALL of my cases and public records on file in which I was NEVER convicted of having felonies of any kind!!! They also lie saying I lived in the ****************, NEVER in my life have I lived in the **************** at all and their info claims I have charges in ********, ******* it is ridiculous. This company also has terrible reviews from other people with stories like how this company made fraudulent!! charges on their credit card without warning when trying to run background searches! So I would want to make a plea in which they take down and remove all information on their website regarding my name, my life, and my background which is in fact FALSE, people like me are very sick of this online slander of our character and personal information and if we cant agree to have this false information removed from their website we as a people need to hold these slanderous companies accountable for defamation in court!! As I was looking through my PayPal account transaction I realized that Intelius had been charging me $33.95 per month for 14 months! I immediately removed them as payees through PayPal. This was a total of $475.30. I purchased a background check for .95 but I did not sign up for a subscription. I went to Intelius directly and tried to call. I kept getting my call disconnected while on hold so I did an email through their contact us page. They never responded or reached out to me. I would like this cancelled and to be refunded the $475.30 they skimmed from my account for over a year. I would like them to notify all people paying for a subscription that they are in fact doing so. My father, *******************************, signed up for a week trial of Intelius.com, a "people-finder" on September 30th, 2021. He was unaware of the monthly charge of $29.78, as when he signed up there wasn't any obvious notation on the website that he would be charged monthly after the one week trial. He has since been charged $595.60, and Intelius refuses to refund him. My father is 77 years of age and has *********** dementia, and I believe Intelius is taking advantage of elders. They took my father's credit card information because the one week trial was $0.99, which he agreed to pay. Then they had his credit card which they used to charge him the monthly fee. There have been several class action lawsuits against this company, and they continue to take advantage of people. I have spoken to Intelius twice on the phone, and both times they tell me it is his credit card's responsibility to refund the charges, but his *********** credit card has already closed the case due to insufficient documentation. My father didn't keep any documentation because he had no idea he was signing up for the monthly charge! We do have documentation from *********** with the monthly charges. We can confirm that the charges linked to the account in question were disputed, creating a chargeback. A chargeback simply means that the account is in dispute with *********************************** financial institution, and they should follow up with the finiancial institution directly regarding any refund concerns.
We can confirm that this membership was immediately cancelled and disabled, and no further charges will be applied. Additionally, as a result of the dispute, this account will be inaccessible going forward.

My father, *******************************, paid Intelius.com $595.60 for a service that he was unaware he had signed up for. He agreed to pay $0.99 for a one week trial of Intelius on September 30, 2021, and was unaware that he had signed up for a monthly membership of $29.78. He used the service once, during his $0.99 week trial.
Intelius continues to insist that this is not their problem, and to contact the credit card company, ************ I have spoken to the credit card company, and it is documented that they closed the case and did not refund my father due to insufficient documentation. There was no documentation because my father was unaware that he was being charged a monthly fee. The only documentation we have is the credit card charges. Never did he sign a contract, nor did he ever receive an email stating the monthly charges.
I have spoken to 3 different representatives at Intelius.com, and have requested to speak to a supervisor but have been denied.
The actions of Intelius.com constitute fraud, in particular elder fraud as my father is 77 with *********** dementia.
If he is not refunded the $595.60 that he was charged unknowingly, I will be pursuing legal action, as well as alerting the ***** the ************************* and our state attorney general.

If a user completes their initial ********************** inquiry but does NOT enter their payment information, they will not be charged and no membership will be created.
In the event of proclaimed fraud, Intelius requests the billed recipient contact us first to ensure the account in question is thoroughly investigated. When this claim can be justifiably substantiated, the account in question is disabled from further use, all memberships to be cancelled, and all charges to be returned to the payment option holder (up to 12 months due to system limitations).
We have cancelled and disabled the account to prevent any further access. Additionally, we would issue a refund on the account; however, we are unable to refund the payments due to a pending chargeback with PayPal.

PayPal and my bank both have said that they cannot refund the amounts. I need your business to refund me I have tried to get in contact with you directly and cannot. My bank did refund me 3 months worth of $34.95 but the remained amounts and months I need to be refund now ASAP. PayPal has denied the returned funds so it is up to you to return the funds. Customers are able to cancel online from within their account, through our Customer Phone Support, or by sending an email to [email protected]. After a thorough investigation, we have determined that no cancellation attempts were made through any of these channels.
After further investigation into Ms. ******* concerns, we have confirmed that the account has been previously cancelled as of June 29, 2023, and no further charges will be incurred. Additionally, we would be more than happy to issue a refund on the account; however, we are unable to refund the payments due to a pending chargeback with PayPal.

That is absolute garbage. ****** has closed the dispute in favor of the vendor because it wasn't a violation of Paypal's policies. The vendor ignored the cancellation request and continued to process the payment. This company is unethical and should be firmly in the "Scam" and "Avoid at all costs" categories.

Intelius is one of several companies that gather public records of individuals and then sell this information on the public market. Naturally, many individuals -- myself included -- do not wish to have their public information sold. For this reason, Intelius offers an 'opt-out' feature, which I attempted to use to exclude my report from Intelius's business. In order to opt-out, I was required to provide personal information so that the business could verify my identity. Unfortunately -- in a practice contrary to their competitors -- Intelius requires a final step of verification whereby they send a code to one of the phone numbers/email addresses that they claim to have "verified." In my case, all of these numbers/emails were no longer valid (one was a landline/fax number which could not have received an SMS message to begin with) or never belonged to me in the first place. The business claimed that, by emailing their support, they could provide an alternate method of verification. I sent two emails to their support team and never received a response as to how I could verify my information and have the report removed from their website.I request that Intelius remove my report from their website and that, in order to keep their A+ BBB rating, they be required to remove the final step of "verification" from their opt-out process. Anything less allows them to continue falsely claiming that one can "opt-out" of having one's personal information sold while placing impossible roadblocks in front of individuals seeking to have their personal information removed from the website. Supporting this complaint, I have included the two emails sent to Intelius requesting another means to validate my identity, as well as their refusal to provide another means, despite claiming that they would do so through their website.Business Response

Hello, I have never allowed or approved of my personal information to show on the internet. I have been trying to opt out of Intelius, however, they are making it difficult for me to opt out by indicating that the search for my records is too broad, therefore, they do not give me the option to opt out. On July 10, 2023. I submitted a request via email making a request to opt out and deletion of all my personal data. I tried several times requesting deletion and each time I received a email informing me my request was denied. I contacted a member from the support staff and explained my dilemma and was told there was no account with associated email. I went as far as to provide an old email which was to no avail. The Support member informed me I needed to make an account in order to proceed.
