I just realized I was paying $17.99 per month merely for the "membership" and then was being charged additionally for shipping costs - as others have stated I never received any confirmation of this agreement nor receipts for the monthly charges, for a service that I only rarely used during Covid lockdown as a replacement for visiting the post office. I am now retired and can ill afford this needless expense. I have called customer service to cancel my account but others should beware of this deceptive business practice!

However, rest assured that we have issued a courtesy refund totaling $296.84 on 1/16/22. We show that your account is closed.

We hear your concerns and we always aim to fully disclose our fees before any account can be created. We do not advertise or offer a free or pay-as-you-go service, and as disclosed and explained during registration, we do charge a monthly fee after the 4-Week Trial Period, which ended on your account on 5/8/20. We show your account was closed on 1/11/23.
We allow all of our customers to evaluate our features without signing up for an account. In addition, immediately after sign-up, new customers are sent a Welcome Email with the same terms outlined, along with information about the monthly flat rate fee if you choose to continue past the trial month.
The fee we charge gives you access to services of the Post Office and the license to print official U.S. postage. It's a flat fee that is not determined by how much postage you print. ********** is a vendor licensed by the USPS, and all paid postage goes directly to the Post Office. We believe in full disclosure, and information about our fees is available on our website, interface, Terms, and FAQs.
During registration for a ********** account, we explain that your credit card will not be charged unless you continue past the four-week trial or buy additional postage and Online Store products. We do have a wide variety of customers - over a million customers- who enjoy the experience of not having to rely on expensive postage meters and who require more functionality and features than what other PC Postage services currently offer.

I needed to make a one-time purchase of stamps and I saw an offer of $5 off for using Stamps.com. I tried to claim this and set up an account to do it. Once I realized that the site was not a place for a one time purchase, I didn't use the site for anything. Upon receiving a charge on my credit card on 1/6/2023 for $18.17, I tried to log into the website to check on the charge. The website doesn't allow you to change your password, but I was able to talk to a representative, who explained to me that in the fine print of the email I received, it explained that I would be charged monthly, if I didn't cancel my account.
I believe Stamps.com deliberately deceived me by 1) offering $5 for a service that clearly is one that has an on-going cost, and 2) by not making it clear that a cost would be incurred each month for just having my name in the system, and 3) by not actively notifying me of my mistake when they clearly knew that I was doing any transactions.
I am sure that many of Stamps.com "customers" have experienced the same issue with this company. They need to stop these deceptive practices.

In February I remember reciving some blank stickers which could be used to print postage from home. I read that I needed to register with stamps.com to be able to print from home. From the info in the mailing I saw and associated this business with the USPS. While I do vaguely remember signing up to print some postage, I DO NOT recall any verbiage telling me This would be a recurring charge. Unfortunately I never saw or heard from stamps.com until today when my husband pointed out we pay $17.99 every month to stamps.com (for these past 10 months)! I never was able to figure out how to print postage and forgot all about it until today. I called the stamps.com customer service and explained my situation and noted that I had NO COMMUNICATION email or snail mail confirming or reporting this debit/set-up. They said they were only able to refund $35.98 and would cancel the service. I don't find this acceptable given that I received no confirmation of signing up nor did I EVER use or receive any service or goods.

This company is extremely deceptive! I had NO IDEA they were charging me a monthly fee for the privilege of ordering postage occasionally! I only accept the blame for not looking closely enough at my credit card statement. I DO NOT accept the culpability for not knowing these charlatans had set me up for a silent subscription for which I've been paying $19.61 every month for many months, during many of which I did not even order postage!

When this came to my attention just yesterday, I immediately went to the website to try and find out HOW MUCH MONEY these vultures had stolen from me and of course their website makes it very difficult to do that. I searched everywhere in my account and in my profile for a list of these charges and could find nothing. But of course they are on my credit card statements, now that I've taken the time to look. I think there's a reason why Stamps.com makes it so difficult to find this information, just like they make it difficult to know when you've been signed up for their little scam!

I DEMAND that this ill gotten money be returned to me! I had absolutely no knowledge or intention of subscribing to a service that I use so infrequently! This business needs to be punished for its deceptive and unscrupulous business practices.

I went to balance my bank account and noticed charges from Stamps.com. I never used this service and apparently at some point during a free trial that i may signed up, they silently incorporated a subscription service that I never asked for, I don't even know what it is and I never used it. I immediately ask for a refund of amounts unduly charged of 17.99 since the 3rd of 2022.

To best serve our customers, we provide the terms for Stamps.com accounts during the registration process. Stamps.com accounts cannot be created without customers indicating that they've read the terms and conditions. During registration for a Stamps.com account, we explain that your credit card will not be charged unless you continue past the four-week trial or buy additional postage and Online Store products.

Stamps.com is a vendor licensed by the USPS, and all paid postage goes directly to the Post Office. In order to offer our standard service, we do charge a monthly subscription fee.

We never charge people without their full agreement and awareness during our online registration process. Our service fee is not based on usage or activity. The monthly subscription service fee that Stamps.com charges is for access of the Stamps.com software, which allows customers to print postage from the comfort of their home or small office using just a PC and a printer. Our service is a monthly subscription service so it's not based on usage of the software, but rather on having access to using it.
We believe in full disclosure, and information about our fees is available on our website, interface, Terms, and FAQs.
During registration for a Stamps.com account, we explain that your credit card will not be charged unless you continue past the four-week trial or buy additional postage and Online Store products. We believe the monthly fee provides a good value for customers who need to print not only just Priority and Priority Express Mail shipping labels, but also Shipping Labels for other classes (we support First Class, Media Mail, and Parcel Select Labels), NetStamps, and postage printed directly on envelopes. We do have a wide variety of customers - over a million customers- who enjoy the experience of not having to rely on expensive postage meters and who require more functionality and features than what other PC Postage services currently offer.

On our main page at www.stamps.com, we explain our fees under the section "Here's how it works..." During the registration process we do make sure that our customers are aware of the monthly service fee in that we have it detailed on the webpage titled "Why do you need my credit card information?"

We do this so that customers can see the price before they complete the registration process. We also have the billing policy detailed in our Terms and Conditions at:

    www.stamps.com/conditions

On 1/5/23, I received an e-mail from Stamps.com (a service I have used for many years to mail **** packages from home). The email was about a monthly service increase: "Your monthly service fee will be adjusted to $19.99 plus applicable taxes, starting after your current billing cycle." I was confused because I did not have a monthly service fee. I paid to reload my postage balance for sending packages, but I never agreed to a monthly fee to do so. I would just go to my corner post office if there was a fee.I was shocked by what I discovered. After it took me an hour to dig through the website to find a report that would show how much money Stamps.com has been siphoning from my credit card for two years, I found they charged me $469.44 in fees and taxes since the beginning of 2021. I don't even know yet how much they got from me prior to that date as the data is gone from the website, and I would have to do some research in old bank records. I never agreed to a service with a monthly fee. Never. I never gave permission to charge my credit card for this. Never. It took me another half hour to sift through the esoteric "help" section to find out how to cancel this service, and I am still not sure I was successful.Stamps.com makes this intentionally challenging so its subscribers won't be aware of a monthly fee, and so its users will have difficulty gaining access to the monthly billing reports. Why is this such a hidden aspect of the business model and website interface? They want to trick customers into a service that seems free (aside from the obvious postage fees). I wouldn't have minded paying a higher postage fee for convenience, but a monthly fee is ridiculous and fraudulent when it us not transparent.I am seeking a refund for all monthly charges from Stamps.com

The amount of the refund is insufficient. I should be refunded the amount that I was charged, as outlined in my initial complaint and supporting document: $469.44 in fees and taxes since the beginning of 2021. Additionally, I would like a complete statement of all transactions prior to 2021, which are not available in my online billing history.

I signed up with Stamps.com on 9/18/2022 thinking that I was opening an account with the US Postal Service. I gave them my credit card number so that I could purchase stamps from home if necessary. I paid $10 thinking that I would then have that much in my account to purchase stamps. They sent me a package with a $10 coupon for postage. In the meantime I have not purchased any stamps and have been charged a monthly fee. So far I have paid them Sept $10, Oct $17.99, Nov $17.99, Dec $17.99 for a total of $63.97 for nothing. I cancelled my account today 1/5/2023 online and called the company to request a refund. Their representative at first said it was not their policy to make refunds but he would see what he could do. He came back and said they would refund only $17.99. I do sincerely believe that I was tricked into signing up for a service that I did not want. There was no mention of service fees in their emails. I am requesting a full refund of $63.97.

After receiving numerous ads through the mail stating I would get free stamps with this company, I logged onto their website. This was in November 2022. They made me set up an account with a credit card. I was never able to print the free stamps. They offered me a free shipping scale, which I also never received. Somehow I was signed up for a monthly subscription for $17.99 a month. It's been three months now that I've been charged for the subscription. I still do not have any stamps or shipping scale. All you get is the runaround. I've attempted to cancel the account at this point. Three months went by before I even realize they were charging me monthly. This company emailed me the day I attempted to get the free stamps and today when I deactivated my account that I didn't even know I had. Wonder why I didn't get any emails from them the past three months I had an account? Seems super shady. And then I come here and see other people are having the same issue.

BBB is unable to locate the business.
I've just discovered a recurring $17.99 charge to my credit card, by stamps.com which charged me to use of the service. Even though I signed up for the service to purchase postage one time in June of 2020, I don't remember agreeing to pay $17.99, and have never received a single email stating I'm to be charge or that my credit card was charged. I've also never received a single email notifying that my trial period was over, or an invoice or billing alert at any time. Nothing...
I already get the same service for free from Paypal and Facebook Marketplace so, why would anyone knowingly pay $17.99 a month for shipping software as consumer and not a business. Had I known at any point there would be a monthly charge, it would have immediately been cancelled.
I contacted Stamp.com to request a full refund and they sent me to someone overseas who was supposedly to negotiate a settlement on my behalf. All they stated was the reoccurring charges were clearly communicated to me, but they might be able to negotiate something for me. He came back stating he could only refund 8 months of the 18 month's worth of the charges for a service never once used. Without question none of what I was told was true, and because this was beginning to become clear this was an intentional shady practice. I've now searched online and discovered how many other customers have been fooled by this shady practice. This is an unacceptable and it's frankly shocking to see it's continued for so many years. I like to request a full refund for the 18 months of $17.99 charges for a service never used once.

Customers are required to review and agree to these Terms prior to completing registration.
In addition, potential customers can review and compare our pricing plans, as well as other important information, to determine which plan best meets their mailing needs via the Learn More section which is accessible from the Stamps.com home page. We offer FAQs that answer questions about pricing, plans, and specific and general benefits of using Stamps.com:
