I had unknowingly signed up for a free trial version of Stamps.com via a third party website. I was able to cancel the account before the free trial had turned into a hidden monthly subscription service. Although I recall canceling the account earlier, their system states that the account was officially closed on July 12th. I had $22.36 of funds in my account at the time of closing. Those funds were unused for any purchases at Stamps.com. I had called support right after closing the account, and was informed that I would receive a refund for the unspent $22.36 within 30 days. After 30 days, I had called support again to get a status update on the refund. I was informed the original person I spoke with was incorrect, that I should expect the refund to be processed within 60 days. I called back a couple of weeks later for a status update, and after nearly an hour of waiting on hold, was informed that the refund had been declined. No effort was made by the company to inform me of the decline. The customer service representative informed me that he would have to get authorization to send a check to my mailing address. He instructed me to call back after several days if I wished to get another update. I called back today, August 21st, for another status update. The refund was declined a second time. Neither instance was the reason behind the refund ever properly explained. Neither instance was I ever informed the refund was declined without calling. I am now told that I need to wait an additional 4-6 weeks to receive a paper check in the mail. I do not have hope that Stamps.com will, in good faith, actually process this refund.Business Response

Dear ****,
Thank you for your inquiry. We appreciate and consider your feedback and take our customers concerns very seriously. Rest assured that your account is closed and that a check for $22.36 is on its way, which we have confirmed with our Finance Team. Normally, we refund the remaining postage balance to the credit card on file used to purchase the postage originally. However, in this case, we show that the credit card refund was declined by the payment system.
We understand how frustrating your experience must have been and please rest assured that we will be reviewing all of the interactions in question. Were sorry to hear that you were not informed of the decline and we will address the matter accordingly. We strongly believe in the value of our service and we always want to do everything that we can to ensure our customers have a positive experience when working with Stamps.com. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.
Best Regards,
The Customer Support Team

I canceled my stamps.com subscription account by phone around March of 2023. They said they couldn't refund me my account balance of ***** but I could use it as needed with no subscription. I have not used it nor have I had any charges from them. I just got charged over $400 on my credit card without any explanation or notice. I was searching to purchase a roll of stamps. I went on the Stamps.com website to see what options they had. I did not realize that once you generate a login and password, that you have signed up for a monthly fee of $20.99 subscription. I was only searching for options. I did not realize this charge occurred until my credit card statement was received. I called to have them cancel this service but would like to make sure to warn the public in case they make the same mistakeBusiness Response

I am filing a complaint regarding Stamps.com for unauthorized billing and potential fraudulent activity. On August 7, 2025, I received a billing statement from Stamps.com (Statement #********** ********) showing charges for services I have never requested, authorized, or used. The statement includes a previous balance of $99.95 and an additional $19.99 service charge, totaling $119.94.I have never conducted business with Stamps.com, have never opened an account, and do not know how they obtained my personal or billing information. This appears to be an attempt to charge me for services I have not agreed to and did not receive.I am requesting that:1.Stamps.com immediately cancel any account in my name.2.They provide written confirmation of the cancellation.3.They remove all unauthorized charges and refund any amounts they may have collected.4.They investigate how my personal and billing information was obtained without my consent.I believe this is a deceptive and potentially fraudulent business practice, and I request that the BBB take appropriate action to investigate and hold this company accountable.Business Response

On July 28, 2025 I was charged $741.78 for a monthly service dating back to 2020. My wife signed up for a free trial of Stamps.com five years ago and never used the service. They proceeded to attempt to bill our account for FIVE years monthly of approximately $20 per month unsuccessfully. Those fees were denied by my bank each month and the transactions never went through. I had no way to even know we had an active account nor they were attempting to build us. They continued to attempt to bill us for this service, and for some reason this transaction was allowed on 7/28/25 for the total amount over five years. We never received any service from Stamps.com. I called them as soon as I realized we were charged and had to investigate what this charge even was. Upon talking to a representative they let me know they were not able to provide a refund because their policy is they only refund up to $250. They suggested my best next step was disputing this charge with my bank. I work in a membership based organization so I am familiar with this process. When charges are denied we cancel that membership after three attempts. Attempting to bill someone for 5 years is ridiculous. Stamps.com has not provided me any service for five years, nor so they have the right to continuously bill me monthly, have those transactions denied and continue to do so until it finally went through five years later. I want an immediate refund and them to change their fraudulent business practices.Business Response

I opened a stamps.com account as a trial. Immediately realize I was not a fan of it and tried to cancel. Since then, they have tried to constantly charge my card even after I closed my account, which suddenly was no longer close. I shouldve done research before doing a trial and I wouldve known that this was a common occurrence.Business Response
