On Feb. 2, 2024, my Discover card was billed for $16.06 for a domain name with Namecheap. I thought that this account was cancelled previously. I tried to cancel again using the phone and web, but was unsuccessful. When I called Namecheap, I am put on hold, then told to leave a message and then told they haven't received a valid response and they hang-up. When online, I was told, via chatbot, to login but, I could not. I was told to reset my password which I did and still I cannot log in. I asked to speak to someone for help and was told that the chatbot is fully qualified and was refused help from another source. The phone number for name cheap is ************. Website is Namecheap.com. I am reaching out for an assist on a refund and to prevent future billing. I have called the credit card company and requested to suspend future billing but, they can only do that for 1 year. Thank you for any assistance you can provide.Initial Complaint

Hello,I registered 25 domains with Namecheap and I started some blogs. I was using hostgator to host some html files. Namecheap banned my account. They said something like fraud/software. Most of the domains have the status clientHold.I began registering the domains 2-3 weeks ago an I only had about 100 htmls files, one css file and one png file per each website. The last 7 domains were registered a day before the ban. I only changed the nameservers and I had nothing on hostgator(no files). I got banned after one day just because I registered them.I tried to talk to them for about 2 days. They just say that they can not give details about the review and their decision is final . I asked multiple times how can I transfer the the domains but they did not respond. I have about 5 domains that don't have the status clientHold but it seems that those are lost too.Initial Complaint

I signed up for services on Friday 2/2/2024 at around 6pm CST. I spent hours setting up my email and looking at website templates. I planned to get my website operational by Monday. My account was flagged as a concern and I received an email at 11:38pm asking for DL, Passport, or a cc authorization number. I contacted Namecheap support later that night. I was informed risk management will get back to me. I contacted my bank Saturday morning at 10:24am CST and was giving a CC authorization number. I contacted Namecheap shortly after. They said they could not confirm the number. At 109pm CST, I received an email stating my services could be cancelled. I contacted namecheap support via chat and did not get an explanation why my account was flagged as a risk. I have wasted countless hours setting up my email, domain, and working on my website. I do not appreciate the hassle to go to my account and undo all my changes to cancel my services. I want a full refund, my credit card information, and id removed from their systems. I no longer wish to use my precious time to cancel a service which was not delivered to me. My website and email will have to be postponed due to Namecheap. I did not get a explanation why my account was flagged.Initial Complaint

An expired card was charged, I contacted the company 15 days later to reverse the charge and they would not. I contacted **** and they reversed the charge to my card. Then, the business contacted me and is demanding I repay them along with a $15 reversal fee. I explained again the situation and they continue to harass me for payment.Initial Complaint

On 1/23/24 I received a email from Namecheap stating that a domain that I sold on their marketplace had a register information update. In the email Namecheap provided me with the first and last name of the user who purchased my domain and gave me their email address. And my information was also shared with the buyer. I do not find this matter to be okay. Why do Namecheap have to give other users our contact and personal information just to change the information in there system. In example, if I buy a domain on the marketplace from another user and ****************** has to now list me as the new owner of the domain in their system then why would Namecheap need to actually give me all the seller's information. If you give someone my email address and name aren't you opening me up to getting hacked or someone using my information. I will attach proof of the email to this complaint. I just never knew Namecheap handle business this way. Had I knew that namecheap willing gives other customers my personal information which should be protected by HIPPA I would of never listed and sold a domain on the marketplace. So, for those who don't know. If you sale a domain on their marketplace whomever buy the domain Namecheap will provide that buyer with your name and email address. For what reason? I have no idea on why they would do this. Its sort of gross!Initial Complaint

I am a small business owner and use a NameCheap domain for my website and emails. In October, I paid NameCheap to renew the domain **************************** for the business ********************************* ********************** LLC) and I have a little extra money on the account to renew it the next time it comes due.NameCheap is sending me constant maniuplative marketing reminders to renew my domains for URLs I did NOT request. I have contacted NameCheap support and told them to unsubscribe me from these reminders, but they continue. I am getting 1 or 2 each week. This is a huge distraction to my work as everytime I need to check to see which URL the email is for. This is a deceptive and unacceptable marketing tactic, and as a small business owner, I don't appreciate it. Please forward this complaint to the *** if appropriate.Initial Complaint

December 13, 2023 since December 5th we have contacted the company NAME CHEAP at ********************************************************************************************* several times via email and 2 times over telephone within the past 8 days some times 2 or more a day. We have made it known that we need the *** code to transfer our domains from name cheap. They stated more than once that we provided the information need it but ignore request for *** code 58 times. Their scheme is simple and anyone can see it. Almost every time they change Ticket number to a different alleging they had to close the prior one but only for their scheme to not provide the *** code which is essential to transfer domains from one company to another one. We found many complaints against NAME CHEAP with BBB in ******* we need *** code to transfer out all of our domains.Initial Complaint

I received a notification by email on 12/3/23 at 10:45 PM stating that my AutoRenew for domain names registered on my account would process on 12/4/23. At 11:25 PM on 12/3/23, I cancelled my auto renew function. These times were given to me by NameCheap in an email dialogue. The problem is that Name Cheap charged me for the renewal at 10:45 PM on 12/3, before the agreed upon date of my renewal (12/4/23). They state that they charged me at 1:45 AM, but the registered address of the domains was in pacific time (this is displayed clearly on the order form). This is clearly a time zone issue, but regardless Name Cheap charged me before the agreed upon renewal date (12/4) and I cancelled my subscription the day before the agreed upon date. The confirmation email of the transaction did not make it clear that a charge "had taken" place but rather, implied a charge "would take" place on 12/4, as was communicated in prior emails. The email states: "We're writing in regards to your domain(s) set to be auto-renewed with payment made from Credit Card **** " The confusing phrase is "set to be renewed" which to me implies a transaction will take place in the future, not that a transaction has already taken place.Thinking I had successfully cancelled the renewal (for obvious reasons considering I cancelled before the renewal date), I asked name cheap to delete my account and surrender the remaining time on the domain registration which in my mind meant I would be surrendering the remaining time on the current registration which was set to expire 1/4/24, not surrendering the transaction that unbeknownst to me had just taken place. NameCheap refuses to refund my order despite the clear mistake on their part by charging my card before 12/4/23. I have communicated the mistake clearly to them but they still refuse. I just want to be refunded due to my honest efforts to cancel on time and the mistake of charging me early.Initial Complaint

This business hosts a *** spam website which currently sends me 50 offensive *** spams EVERY DAY, has been sending them for 9 months. Average 70 spams a day for many months, some days as many a 150. Many of these spams contained viruses and malware, which were caught by Avast. I have been reporting ALL of these spams using Spamcop, usually taking 1 hour every day. But Namecheap just keeps sending them. The spams pretend they are replies to a "Dating Profile" that I supposedly posted. NOT TRUE! I have NEVER visited any of their **** websites, and NEVER signed up for ANYTHING from these bums. Someone must have sold them my Email address. I am 72 years old and married for 15 years.
