1 starTerrible. They offered a "free trial." Then, the company would not allow me to cancel it. Now, customer service will not help me. Per customer service, I have to pay for the equipment despite my attempts to cancel.Review fromNicholas H

1 starDoor to door salesman came around and sold us on the system but failed to mention the line of credit that would be opened under my social security number, tanking my credit score by 90 points. Called and was told there was nothing to be done about canceling the loan and service aside from paying off the $4k in equipment cost, and canceling the servicing cost for half of the contract cost. In total, $5k down the drain for something that Ring does literally a tenth of the price. Detectors constantly go out, servicing takes three weeks to get a technician out to the house, and calling customer service did literally nothing besides them insisting I couldn't cancel and not know military clauses regarding different options to cancel. Run away from this company, all I want is out and they refuse to be of assistance.Review fromEric D

1 starWe had no issues with the service up until recently when we moved. Online we were supposed to be able to just pack up our equipment and be able to move it ourselves - according to their website. We did this, moved it, set it up, etc. Everything WORKS. We just need to update our address. They refuse to do it over the phone and want a tech to come out. The first time, the tech canceled with no reason. The second time, we scheduled for the evening, they came around lunch and not during the scheduled time. The *** says he doesn't work during that time we scheduled. The *** that showed up showed up in an unmarked vehicle and was using his cell phone to try and do anything. No badges, nothing that shows it's truly someone with the company other than t-shirts that anyone would have been able to get. When we originally signed up Vivint always used a marked vehicle. So we still do not have our address changed. So if our alarm goes off, they will dispatch someone to the old address. And guess what? Their customer service doesn't even care. So I'm just putting it out there that if anything were to happen, I'll be holding Vivint legally responsible since they refuse to simply update the address. The customer service has been a total joke. They lie on the phone and only try to upsell you rather than solve any issues. I used to encourage others to sign up for this company for an alarm service. Now we are looking into some alternative options and I highly encourage everyone to STAY AWAY from this company. Something changed over the years since we first got them and not for the better. There are plenty other companies with great reviews with a lower rates - just stay away from this one!Review fromPriscilla M

1 starVivint installed the smart thermostat at my residence the first time it didnt work. My AC wasnt blowing any air took about a week to send a second guy he couldnt get a going so I asked him to put my old thermostat on and he couldnt get it going as well. He said it was my AC unit. I called my AC guy. He got it working and said that. There's nothing wrong with the system I don't know why he couldn't get your Vivint thermostat to work but the reason why the old thermostat didn't work when you put it on there is he didn't tighten up the connection for the jumper between the Rh terminal and the ** terminal so it wasn't sending the signal all the way through the like it should The fuse wasn't blown and everything with the system is good. Im very disappointed. We were out of an AC for about a week and a half and we have a baby in the house and is the middle of July and Vivint didnt have reliable people. To get the thermostat working.Review fromJasmine F

1 starI am filing a formal complaint against Vivint Smart Home due to misleading sales practices, lack of disclosure, and unreasonable billing.I recently had Vivint security equipment installed at my home. From the very beginning, I was misled about the total cost and terms of service. I was quoted a much lower price during the sales process than what I was later billed. I was also never issued a copy of the contract outlining my obligations or terms of service, despite specifically asking for it. Additionally, I was not informed of the three-day cancellation policy, and when I asked the technician about canceling, I was told nothing about a cancellation ********* make matters worse, the installed outdoor camera emits a bright flashing light that keeps me awake at night, which has severely impacted my sleep and well-being. I reached out to Vivint to resolve these issues and request cancellation, only to be told I must pay the full $2,600 for a system Ive only had for seven days.I believe this is an unfair and unethical practice. I was not properly informed about my rights, was never given a chance to review the full agreement, and now Im being charged the full contract amount despite my immediate concerns and attempts to resolve the issue.I am requesting the following resolution:Immediate cancellation of the Vivint contract without penalty.Waiver of the full equipment cost due to misleading and non-transparent sales practices.Pickup and removal of the installed equipment.I would appreciate the BBBs assistance in resolving this matter.Review frommelody f

1 star************. Seller said it was 2 year contract but then wrote it out for 5 years. They have another company take a line of credit out for purchase of the equipment, which is not in the contract anywhere. Paid off the equipment after having to move and now Vivint trying to make me pay for service again. Not able to have a security system where I live now. They refuse to cancel and want an additional fee on top of it.Review fromMichael L

1 starThey refuse to send a technician out to fix a camera that has pretty much never worked without a fee. I paid so much money for this system and expect it to be covered, especially when it has been so well taken care of. The support online insists on running the same troubleshooting over and over when it clearly is not the problem. Im also convinced that the system does not even connect to the authorities as false alarms have NEVER sent the police or fire department. I just want my camera to be fixed/replaced after all the money I have given them.Review fromThomas and Gwendolyn N

1 starCustomer Review for ********************** Ive been a Vivint customer for over 7 years. I initially purchased a basic system that included door and window sensors, motion detectors, and fire alert equipment. All of the equipment was paid for in full upfront, and I was never required to sign a contract. Later, I added a Vivint doorbell and three cameras, which increased my monthly service fee to around $67. Again, all equipment was purchased outright, and no contract was signed.Recently, I replaced the Vivint cameras and doorbell with non-Vivint equipment and contacted Vivint to reduce my service to their basic plan, which is advertised at $39/month. To my surprise, I was told that the only way to receive the basic rate was to sign a new 36-month contract. The only alternative offered was a temporary $15 discount for five months. This feels unreasonable and unfair. I own all my equipment and no longer use the additional services that justified the higher monthly fee. I should not be required to sign a long-term contract just to access the standard rate for basic service. Vivints refusal to adjust my rate unless I commit to a 36-month contract is disappointing and feels coercive.Ive been a loyal customer for nearly a decade and simply want to pay the same basic rate that any other customer who owns their equipment would pay. I hope Vivint reconsiders this policy and treats long-term customers with more flexibility and fairness.Review fromAdriana Y

1 starDo not select Vivint as your security provider. Luckly, we have not had to rely on the Vivint system in a true emergency. Primary use is for convenience to lock and unlock doors remotely. The devices are extremely unreliable, including the cameras, door locks, and wi-fi connectivity. The cost to purchase the equipment is expensive, and any time you are trying to resolve an issue, they try to up-sale you. We currently have a Protection Plan that waives a $99 deductible if a technician is dispatched. But, in order to have the technician dispatched, you have to waste over an hour on the phone or via chat doing self-troubleshooting. In every instance we've had trouble, it is related to the device. Yet, they have you reboot routers or cycle electrical breakers as scripted steps for troubleshooting. They will not schedule a technician until all the troubleshooting steps have been completed. Even though, a non-responsive device indicates, it is the device! When the do schedule the technician, it is a 4-hour window of arrival. And there is no courtesy call to give you closer time. When customer service is called to find out the status, they can't get any response, and try to reschedule you for another day, with another 4-hour window. Unacceptable. Shop for other services, do not select Vivint.
