I contacted AskCrew on May 13, 2024 to ask a simple question regarding the changing of address on a drivers license. I was told I needed to pay $1.00 to access the technician, but I was never told I would be charged $46.00. I was of the understanding that I would be given time to decide if I wanted to continue with the company. I did not think it was worth the price and was surprised to see the charge of $46.00 on my account. I would appreciate the return of the $46.00.Business Response

Well it seems i have the same story as everyone else here. I was told by theses askcrew people i would be charged $1 for a week trial membership. This i authorized. Then i get an alert from my bank about charges to my account. I checked my account and see that that these ripoff artists had charged my card not 1 dollar but also for $55 dollar membership...THIRTEEN TIMES before my bank caught it and froze my account. I called my bank and the charges were removed...all but one for $55. Askcrew said they would not refund it because i chatted with one of their agents, who was absolutely useless. I could hear him pulling up the manual for my reciever and he couldnt evern get that right. My problem was the power to the unit would not stay on. Then he would read off the online manual, which i can and had done already, then say "ok now with the power turned on...do this..." And kept doing it over and over. I think he was a little lit. Was sure no expert. Chat ended by him saying i should take it to a repair shop. WOW. And they are refusing to take the fraudlent charge off my account. On April 23rd I was having problems signing into my Canada Revenue account and I was trying to get a number where I could speak to an agent. Ask cew popped up and asked for $1 which would be refunded. I assumed it was a Revenue Canada pop up.. I paid with PayPal. The answer they provided was not satisfactory. Today I noticed that not only was the $1 not refunded but I paid $69 for a monthly subscription that I certainly didn't sign up for. I am a senior living on a fixed income and was very upset when I saw the money taken from my Bank account without permission. Looks like a scam talking advantage of people. I cancelled the recurring monthly charge through PayPal. I am requesting a full refund of $70.Business Response

I have been told by two merchants I have accounts/subscriptions with that they are transferring me to an "expert" to answer my question, and I will be charged $1 that will be refunded to me. Trying to hurry because my "expert" is waiting for me to pay, I enter my payment info still believing I will be charged $1, only to find I've been charged $1 and $46. For my issue with ********* the $46 was returned to me. I did this again with a question I had for Audible. Knowing they were most likely going to scam another $46 I proceeded because I needed an answer. I have ROKU streaming and got a message that my device was overheating. I contacted the on-line information for ROKU and somehow was connected to this Ask Crew company. I consented to the $1 charge but was not advised that I would be billed $46 monthly for membership. I did not want a membership and was shocked when I got a fraud alert from my bank shortly afterward. I will now have to get a new credit card from my bank and am hoping that the $46 charge will be removed.
