I have reported momentum solar before. I have had it with them. I am in problem with my *** because the lied to me and said the got permission to install from the *** when this was false. Due to their deception and unwillingness to comply with the demands of the *** to remove panels. I have been fined and am in hot water. If that was not enough, even after notifying them of the problem, they sent documentation saying the work was completed, another lie. Now the loan is been called in. I am now paying fines, electricity bills and solar loan. They wont ************* or respond to my voicemail. I am so frustrated. I am out of pocket so much money which I dont have. And possibly will be out of pocket more, as I am having to go pay a lawyer to get the situation resolved. As they are completely ignoring me.Business Response

We went through Momentum to have solar panels installed. Started November 2021, finally went "live" **** of 2022. We have been trying to complete our application for the MA SMART Solar Incentive Program and we can not get Momentum to complete what they have to do. Our application expires on 3/15/2023. Momentum needs to complete a Claims submission and at this point ask for an extension. We have called over and over and are always told they will look into it and call back. We never get a return call. Unfortunately, Momentum is the only one that can complete the processBusiness Response

When I signed up for a solar system with Momentum Solar, I was promised a $700 rebate / sign on check that was supposed to be mailed to me before my loan payments kicked in. My sales person, in text form, has ********** me several times that I am due $700. However, she keeps telling me to call the Momentum customer service line. Each time I call customer service, the support representative acts like they have no clue that I am due $700 even though my sales person re-assures me I am. My loan payments have already kicked in and I still have not received my $700 payment.Business Response

we had solar panels installed that failed inspection, after several weeks of calls company finally came back out to fix install up to inspection standards and now we have again made several attempts for weeks to get in touch with momentum to have a second inspection set up and I have been getting the run around everytime I call, no one returns my calls when they say they are going too...meanwhile payments on these non working panels start in april, if this is not rectified by then I will be seeking legal counsel and taking momentum to court, and they can take their panels back!! Worst company ever!!Business Response

In 2020 Momentum Solar acting as the agent, installer and partner with *************************** (seller) and ******* provided us with the attached Panel Removal Warranty. In the attached frequently asked questions, it states that the warranty covers all system maintenance and repairs... for the lifetime of our solar agreement along with other guarantees. At this time, we are attempting to invoke the panel warranty coverage. However, we are unable to do so because Momentum Solar and *************************** are both stating they dont have any records of the warranty agreement and cannot enforced it. There is no language in the Monumental Solar Panel Removal Warranty nor in the Sunnova Contract that states if the companies severe business ties that the solar panel warranty will not be honored. We are seeking to have our roof replaced and its imperative to enforce the warranty. Momentum Solar wants us to absorb the costs to have the panels removed and replaced. At this point we have been bounced back and forth from Sunnova and Momentum and neither company wants to act in good faith and stand by the Solar Panel Removal Warranty. Both companies are taking advantage of a Veteran and good customer. I have filed a complaint against ******* as well.Business Response

My friend recommended them so I signed up with them in Dec 2022. This lowered my guard, and I deeply regret not researching this company!Momentum promised to compensate referrers. It is even shown on their webpage. Months passed and my friend got NOTHING. I crossed my fingers hoping she didn't get cheated. I got curious and researched this company deeper. I'm shocked with what I read. Aggressive marketing, delayed/nonexistent customer support, overpromises, low rating (3/5 stars on BBB...seriously???). I read through the complaints, and it's very obvious that they aggressively harrass homeowners. At first, I thought they were just hard workers. However, despite how well they do their "due diligence" to harrass/call new homeowners, they practically neglect people who has already signed up with them. That is a huge red flag. I also have read at least two to three cases where homeowners have panels installed but not activated (so no sun power). Doesn't that mean these homeowners have to pay TWICE for their electricity (once for utility company and one for solar)? Sure some of these cases are "resolved". But do I really want to deal with a company that "resolves" them AFTER the customer complains? I mean come on, activating the panels should be the BASICS. You shouldn't make a customer WORK for it. I am pretty busy, but if I have to spend hours on the phone with them every time they make a mistake, that is definitely a deal breaker for me. They even claim to be part of the **** 500 and deloitte 500. It's no wonder why I can't find them in there with a reputation this bad. I wanted to cancel my agreement with them, before they install anything on my roof, but they refused to let me back out. It's clear that they often over promise (the referral fee scam is a good example). How can I trust them to service me for 10 to 25 years? If I saw ANY of this information BEFORE I signed up, I would have gone for a more reputable company like ********* instead.Business Response

I have delt with this solar company for the better part of a year. The installation process, since April of 2022, was rather confusing and problematic. I wrote to the **suite and hoped they'd facilitate a full resolution to the conclusion of our business. However, that has not been the case. I have had two diligent representatives with the company, a sales lead and a regional manager, assist me with several problematic issues during our business with one another. I was offered a battery credit and a referral bonus that was to be paid out, but months later that term has yet to be fully fulfilled without my direct involvement. I have poured hours of my time into making sure that I am compensated as agreed upon when signing my initial loan contract. I am looking to be paid the remaining $1000.00 that is still owed to me immediately and a direct response outlining the issues that the company has undergone in fulfilling our initial agreements. So, what caused the miscommunication during the installation process, what has prevented timely monetary disbursements and what has the company done to improve these processes considering my egregious case? These questions are important to me in understanding why my experience was so poor and knowing what accountability the company has undergone to prevent this type of experience in the future.Business Response

Momentum has been working with ********************* to address her concerns regarding the timeframe in getting her solar system energized. Momentum had to submit for a permit update which added to the time lapse in getting the panels activated. Without the permit update we could not have inspections scheduled with the township. All those issues have now been handled. Momentum has approved ************************** compensation as well.Customer Answer

A few things:
I received a tracking number and notification of my payments approval yesterday, which was appreciate.
In the businesses response only one of my questions was addressed. I still would like to know what the break in the process was that prevented me from being paid promptly and what the company has done in remediation of all the issues that I experienced. In reviewing other complaints these issues appear to be prevalent and recurring, Im not a one off. The company is not bad, but their processes and poor communication have lead poor customers satisfaction.
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

07/06/22 - Met with a Momentum salesman and "signed" a contract for the purchase of new solar panels at $142.95/month, with payments to start only when the panels were activated. I was informed the payment would never go up, so long as I forwarded my tax incentive check. I never received a copy of the contract, nor was I told how to obtain the same. When I indicated a sense of urgency due to rising electrical prices, I was assured that the panels would be installed and operation in 2-3 months tops.09/20/22 - Panels "installed"09/30/22 - Solar failed inspection for numerous issues. Momentum told me that they would come out ASAP to correct the install issues.10/04/22 - No word from Momentum, I messaged the salesman about the inspection failure and asked him to make sure someone would address the failures. .10/14/22 - No word from Momentum, contacted salesman who assured me he would make sure my concerns were known,10/19/22 - Still no word, messaged salesman and was told there was no date for repairs yet, but that I "don't start paying for the solar until 60 days after it gets activated."01/26/23 - a Momentum rep came and performed some work on the electrical box.02/17/23 - Re-inspection failed due to "safety" issues 02/17/23 - *************** informed me my first payment was due 03/01/23.02/24/23 - Called momentum customer service who told me payments were due 60 days after install regardless of whether it was operational, and I would need to submit my finance payment statements for them to reimburse "but only if they determined it was their fault".Unfair trade practices - they informed me payments would not start until after activation. Payments have started without any sign of activation. Panels are now 6 months old - when I contracted for new panels - customer service dismissed my request for some consideration for the wear and tear. Review of loan docs indicate payments will go up unless I receive the full anticipated tax incentive.Business Response

Complaint: 19503067
I am rejecting this response because a final inspection was not scheduled for 3/16/23. ******, an electrician was sent to my home and arrived 3 hours before his confirmed appointment time and told me, upon arrival, that he was not sure what needed to be done. I tried to explain but I am no electrician. Work was done for about an hour and they left. No word on when a final inspection will be scheduled. There has been no resolution of my complaints as Momentums legal department continues to insist I sign a release giving up all my rights, including my rights to speak as to Momentums failure to provide quality service. My system is still not activated nearly 6 months after installation and payments have been withdrawn from my account despite assurances that they would not start until 60 days after activation.

I am rejecting this response because:I have not had any direct contact from Momentums legal department, only a representative of their escalations department who has been acting as a middleman between myself and their legal department. Additionally, I submitted a revised release to them on March 3 which removed their over inclusive (ie overreaching) language and they have not since responded.
There is no ongoing negotiation, or communication of any kind. Im curious to see if it passes this 3rd inspection given that the electrician they sent to make the system code compliant was not even properly apprised of the problem.

We moved into a brand-new house in Jan 2022. We signed a contract with solar soon after. Problem and setback after setback- finally got the solar on the house in Sept/October 2022. Turns out the company lied to us. According to my fiance, we were told that solar panels would be put on the front of our home- facing the sun and that a certain number of panels would be placed on our roof. However, when the installers arrived, we were informed that no panels could be put up on the front of our home, their excuse was something about the roof structure- "there was something on the roof" that prevented them from being placed there. So now, we had fewer panels on half the roof- the side- which doesn't get sun until 9 am- and the back, which sees the sun for 2 hours a day. Now, we have solar electricity from 9 am-2 pm, which is barely enough to run the house during that time (with the windows open) and not nearly enough to charge the battery. We got an increased amount of panels due to our wanting a pool- so now we pay both the loan for the solar AND an electric bill- totaling nearly $400/mo. Additionally, after the panels were installed- they were set (by the company) to only produce as much electricity as the house needed at that time. Meaning that if we were not running anything but the kitchen appliances (fridge, ice maker, freezer) then the solar panels were NOT generating any electricity OR storing it in the battery for future use! It took my fiance calling the company MULTIPLE times for them to finally admit that they had set it up this way and to fix it so that the battery would charge!!!!I would like to get out of this contract. This company is a racket- they lied to get our business and their product barely works. We already pay $167/mo for something that was supposed to get rid of our electric bill but has instead increased our monthly bills, as it is not working the way it was promised.Business Response

Momentum has tried reaching out to ****************** and has left messages, but we have been unable to make contact. The customers system was just energized 1/19/2023, and the customer needs to allow the system time to show full production. We would like to explain to ****************** about her system performance and offset and go over how the system performs throughout the year as we are entering longer days and the system will produce more. As for her fridge, ice maker, and freezer, it is all tied in the house usage through her electric panel, and she does not have a whole house battery,so the battery will only run certain items in the case of an outage. We kindly request that ****************** return Joes call at ************ so that he can explain the specifics of her system to her.Customer Answer
