1 starHorrible service, NO Communication. Taxes Files without my approval online. Never heard back from the agent filing my taxes when I asked the piece of mind be added. Spent 5 days trying to get in touch with someone after they promised to respond - No response. Sent messages thru the portal - no response. Spent 3 hours on the phone being transferred around to different departments with no resolution. I asked for the piece of mind coverage- never got it. Never approved my taxes that were sent directly to the Federal / State. I will never use this company again. They never responded. The different departments are so out of touch with each other with no access to investigate. They sure did collect my monies quickly...If you need help- dont count on them. Be Careful and Beware.Review fromNikk C

1 starShowed up 15mins early to my appointment to do my taxes. At the ******** location. I had notified them the day before I needed to do multiple years. Was told no problem. I had uploaded all documents needed prior to the appt. Met with **** who proceeded to do 1 year then told me she needed to print something for another customer who walked in. I said thats fine she then proceeded to take over 30mins and do an entire appt while I waited 1 desk away. She comes back and now the system isnt working tells me to pay and maybe that will fix it. I then say Im not paying until everything is completed. An hour later still nothing was done because they ended up with IT issues and couldnt even do the remaining w2s. Im now there for over 2 and a half hours. Nothing is working **** asks the front desk to ask the manager if my taxes can be comped. They say no. I tell them thats fine I just want my taxes done. Front desk rep says well you waited till the last day what do you expect I say wow that is completely unprofessional. I then ask how much I owe for the 1 year being done. She then relays its in progress we dont know if it was completed. So nothing was done except waste almost 3 hours and now Im going to have to file an extension.Review fromJosie C

1 starI set up a virtual appointment with this H&R Block for Saturday 15, 2023. I chose this company because they advertised 85$ tax preparation on ******* So I was on my computer waiting for the zoom appointment to start. 30 minutes go by, I finally call the office and ask for ****** (tax preparer assigned to me) to find out whats up. I was told the computers were down for a while, and thats why she didnt make the appointment - and then another customer arrived early so she had to take care of them. So, she cant pick up the phone? These people are running a business? So then the receptionist rescheduled my appointment for a couple hours later. At the scheduled time I got a phone call from ******. The computers are still down she said, could we conduct the appointment over the phone? Fine. We spent about 5 minutes going over my stuff, she said she had everything she needed and she would then start working on my taxes. Then about an hour after we talked, I realized she hadnt asked me about my Vanguard account, which only totals about **** right now, but still needs to be reported. So I call ******, and Im like whats going on here? Why didnt you ask me about this important tax information?Again, her excuse was the computers in the office werent working properly.Sounds to me like your whole business isnt working properly.Today I got the e-mail from ****** to look over my tax for and approve her work. The bill was 385 dollars. There was no mention of this previously.I called the office, talked to a manager for half an hour while she explained why her office was charging me 385 dollars and why they hadnt brought this up before. F*** these people and their computers. They wasted my time and now I have to file an extension, because I dont have time before the deadline.Watch out for H&R Block, theyll take your money any way they can get it.Review fromAlex N

1 starI dont give them any stars was in to do my taxes with my wife, that I am in a divorce with my wife has tried to manipulate and be vindictive about taxes. The fact that she tried to file taxes says enough, but she has gone to the links of letting it be drawn out until the very end And she couldnt file taxes on her own because she needed my W-2 so I did all the work to get an appointment set up. Had to run back to my attorneys office to get more documents for filing taxes. I specifically told the lady just get started on hers my wifes , and by the time I get back we can do mine when I came back into the office. My wife was just sitting there doing nothing and when we were called back to start this old lady name ******************** was very rude from the beginning, asked me to pull out my proof of income. I gave her that and right away she was arguing with me about taxable income in the form of dividends. I told her I understand this, but I dont consider it income because its not that much. She said once again, it is taxable to report to the **** I told her once again I understand and then she tells me to sit there and be quiet and I told her who in the h*** do you think you are talking to me this way I dont have to sit here and be quiet and then she told me to leave and I said I have every right to be here. I have an appointment I need to have my taxes filed she told me to leave and then another lady came to tell me to leave as well. I got up and close started collecting my documents I asked what my wife said while its gone they replied nothing I said yeah right then this other lady tried to tell me that my wife could file taxes on her own. I had to start laughing. I said that thats why were here? Are you kidding me? I asked for the managers name and number and I got no answer and I left went back to my attorneys office and I told him what had happened this happened April 18, 2023Review fromEric T

1 starVery poor customer care- unreliable tax preparation people. No fixed price sheet or any description of services provided. I expect people to know their jobs and not have to call in any help from others.Review fromNoelle N

1 starOvercharged me an absurd amount for filing my taxes. I signed up to file with a pro and online advertises for the starting price of $85 plus additional fees for each state. After putting all of my information into their portal, they asked me to schedule an appointment in person, No where in the portal shows you how much the service was going to be, they even called the day before the appointment and told me they have everything they need. After filing in person, they asked me to pay almost $300, saying it was complicated. Mind you, I went to a couple of different places and with all of my documents, I was quote $80-$100. The only reason why I went with H&R Block was because I had a referral for $25 off. Their website says no surprises and all about transparency, yet these extra fees were completely hidden and not communicated to be prior to the appointment.I called their customer service and was provided a case number but no actions were taken further. I want an explanation and a refund for the hidden fees.Review fromPaula T

1 starI'm only providing a 1-Star review because I have no other option. First let me start out by saying that I have used H&R Block for my tax returns for as long as I can remember. However, I now will never use them again! Sadly only because I received such horrible treatment when I really needed professional advice and/or help. Without going into my personal details, I will say that I had not been able to file my taxes for the last 4 years due to the fact that apparently the *** could now not identify me and during the pandemic and even now, you can not get anyone on the phone to ask a simple question. I went into H&R with the paperwork I had available and the first arrogant comment out of her mouth after asking me how my day was going, was uncalled for. "Oh, because you waited until the last day"? Oh, haha that wasn't funny and it wasn't the last day. It was April 7th. I attempted to explain my dilemma and she looks at me and the papers and says "what is all this? What do you want me to do?" Everyone in the office could hear how she was talking to me, how humilating. After about 2 minutes of feeling like an ***, I had tears in my eyes so I just wanted to just leave and find a real accountant that could guide me. She said she had to reschedule me, which she did, but needless to say, I was not going back to her when I left there in tears and everyone had to hear it. My daughter was in there with another rep getting her taxes prepared as well. When she came out to the car, she asked me what all that was about and proceeded to tell her. Even though she heard every word. No one deserves to be treated like that! I sent her an email letting her know how I felt about my treatment and let me tell you, I never heard a word back from her. With that said, I did not show up for my appointment either. Ms. ****************** EA, deserves NO customers! An EA that will not assist with an *** issue needs her certification/license revoked.Review fromKatie S

1 starNegative Experience with Confidential Information Handling I am writing to share my recent negative experience with H&R Block. As a customer seeking professional tax preparation services, I expected a high level of care and attention to detail, particularly when it comes to handling sensitive personal information. Unfortunately, my experience fell far short of these expectations.Upon choosing H&R Block for their reputation and convenience, I encountered a series of unprofessional incidents that raised concerns about the security of my personal identifiable information (PII). The timeline of events is as follows:-I arrived at the H&R Block office for my scheduled appointment, only to find the door locked and the staff tardy by half an hour.-Upon entering the office, I was informed that the Tax Representative was not yet present, raising concerns about the company's organization and reliability.-I eventually decided to leave the office and file my taxes online, but not before securely emailing my documents to H&R Block for previously mentioned appointment.-Several weeks later, I received two phone calls from rude H&R Block representatives, both of whom claimed that I needed to collect physical copies of my documents from their office.-In both instances, the representatives read my PII out loud over the phone, demonstrating a careless and unprofessional approach to handling sensitive information. (passing between employees, obtaining physical records not stored securely)The lack of professionalism and carelessness in handling *************** information has left me deeply concerned about the security of my PII. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend H&R Block to anyone seeking tax preparation services, and I will actively discourage my friends and family from using their services in the future.I hope this review serves as a warning to potential customers and prompts the company to take immediate action in addressing these critical issues.Review fromOlivia C

1 starI had the extreme displeasure of working with ***************** at this location. She said she was going to file my contractors' ****s and when she filled out the forms, she made a bunch of mistakes. When I called to have her correct them, I was told I would have to make an appointment. I did this three times and she never called at at point. When I called the office and finally got on the phone with me, she passed me around to her other colleagues, and finally someone let me know she was "too busy" to keep working with me and that she didn't have time to fix it. I come to find out she never even sent them to the **** DO NOT work with this H&R Block.
