  Do not used these place, they charge $450 for a BASIC TAX return, and do not listen to their customers. They have no knowledge in getting amended returns done. Make fraudulent charges for services that were already paid for, etc. Worst tax company ever. This business should not be allowed to remain open. Their "Tax Professionals" are just people who took an online course and pretend to know what they are doing, but probably failed HS math.

  This was my first time using H&R Block, and it will be the last.
  I had previously filed with TurboTax for 15+ years, but I wanted dedicated help because I moved to a new state. I only ever communicated with a rep over email; after I sent her my tax returns, she said she processed everything and that I was all set.
  I emailed her twice to confirm that BOTH my H&R fees and my federal tax payments had been processed. She said yes.
  Three months later, I received a letter from the IRS telling me that I owed $754 in federal taxes and that interest would accrue every day that I didn't pay. I spent SIX WEEKS trying to get a hold of someone at H&R block. I emailed my original professional multiple times and attempted to get through to someone on the phone, to no avail.
  Finally, a different tax professional very rudely responded and told me I had to pay my taxes on the IRS website. I requested a phone call, which he refused to do. I also asked him to verify which payment they used to process H&R block so I could better verify on my end, but he never responded. I was left to quickly pay the money on the IRS website, but I am still in the process of trying to figure out how much I owe in interest.
  This review is for the H&R Block in Ballston, Virginia. But I was never able to get through to anyone to help me navigate the issue, and because of their negligence and poor communication, I owe more money than I did before.
  I am willing to amend this review if H&R Block can help mitigate the financial loss that I've incurred because of their errors.

  I have been dealing with h&r block for the last 10 plus years and the last couple years have been ridiculous, but my complaint has to do with the taxes that I filed for this year what has happened is they have allowed someone to use my social security number to file their taxes and to make matters worse I wasn't informed about it until I went to pay for my taxes, for someone that has been a long time customer this is something that should have been caught immediately and for this to happen and now I'm going to have difficulty filing my taxes for the next few years and the fact also that h&r block seems like they don't care about criminal proceedings because as far as I'm concerned this is fraud all day long I'm also in the position of previous comments that see as well if I could give h&r block zero Stars I would do it 100 times over

  If i could give 0 stars I would! This company messed my taxes up for year 2020 and 2021 tax years and did not tell me until may 2024. When patiently waiting for money, I called the IRS and they stated that one of the years was closed and one of the years never had an amended filed. I literally grabbed paperwork that was amended for both years to send to IRS within the small window I was given. I pay for peace of mind and probably spend 600.00 in fees for them to NOT mess up my taxes. After some time I had a hard time trying to even get someone to contact me and then the lady stated that corrections were made on their end on the amended, but the IRS shows as "amended duplicate" which means dollar amounts were never corrected. I waited for her to call me back and she never did. I've reached out to get them to contact me and no answer. I have been with this company since I started working which has been many years. How they messed up my taxes so badly has been traumatic and unprofessional. None of this was even my fault. It was error of the staff/company and they are doing nothing but ignoring the problem when I deserve my money that I worked hard for. Chance after chance to make it right and they just havent. I will probably switch to another company, because their peace of mind means nothing to me now. The faith I put into this company is now gone. This isn't a small amount of money that we are talking about. This was a TERRIBLE error made by this company with chances to make it right and they havent. Do not recommend this company. Communucation is out the window. Do better h&r block!

  If I could leave a zero star I would. ***** from HR block in post falls Idaho neglected to do her job fully and left us owing a bunch of money. We have no problem paying but she lied to us about owing money after we asked multiple times if we did. Then when I brought it to her attention she laughed at me and ask “you’re mad at me” after I asked why she didn’t read through our taxes all the way. She admitted to doing her job incorrectly but had no solutions to what she could help us with.

  H&R Block: Kankakee County Illinois offices.
  I was in the process of completing my 2024 federal tax filing. Once I had received the last bit of information to finalize my return I made an appointment to do so. I was informed my return had already been filed. This was impossible as I had not met with my tax preparer for the final review. It was revealed that my return had been fraudulently submitted by someone through H&R Block. My preparer walked me through some actions to begin resolution which I completed. I called about a week later to get some more advice and assistance. I received what is commonly known as the “BUM’S RUSH”. Each and every H&R Block passed me off to another; receptionist to advisor - advisor to manager - manager to local stores’ team leader - local leader to District Manager……NOTHING, no call backs, no emails, no text messages. Nothing indicating or resembling a concern for my dilemma. A dilemma that occurred on H&R Block’s watch. A known security breach of my personal data gleaned from H&R Block. I hope Jeffrey J. ***** II president and chief executive officer reads this. I think he should be aware of what’s happening out “in the field”. Thank you.

  THEY LOST ALL OF MY SENSITIVE TAX DOCUMENTS. My 1099s, my receipts, my w2, and they have done absolutely nothing to fix the issue. DO BOT USE THIS BUSINESS FOR ANYTHING!

  The online filing is a ripoff. The charge you before you finalize your return, then steal you money when you let them know they did your taxes wrong. Tried to get a refund and was denied. Went to Turbo take and didn't owe the amount block came up with. Tried to get a refund again and they quit talking to me. Will never use again and don't recommend they, they steal your hard earned money.

  If I could give this place a 0, I would. Long story but worth the read.  At the end, I was supposed to owe "$7,000). I did not think much of it because this was the first time I had went to H&R block and had someone I did not know do my taxes. I left the store, was looking over it and realized they had made a MAJOR mistake. I went back in, had the accountant look over it. Her name was TERRY, older lady. I had her go back over it, and found out that she had used SOMEONE ELSES TAX INFORMATION. This was a whole different person- different social security number. She tried to play if off as "I was not able to read it very well", and did not take any accountability (taking advantage of younger people). Turns out after she took the OTHER PERSONS tax info out I only owed $121. I went to a more professional H&R Block to have them check to make sure this location did not screw me over AGAIN. I constantly called and talked to the "manager" MANNY for over a month and nothing got completed. I went back in to try and get the $315 I paid for back, because they made a MAJOR mistake, and he did not care. He was very rude, and unprofessional. Trying to say it was my fault that I made the mistake when they violated HIPPA, and the lady by inserting someone else's tax information onto mine. I paid for a service to be done because they are "experts", not to supervise them at their own job! I also contacted corporate and spoke to the district manager of Kissimmee. She claimed she filed a report to the escalation team. I waited and waited to hear back from them. Attempted to call her back to find out what was going on, and she refused to answer for weeks. Still haven’t heard from her, and probably never will. Very disappointing. No apology for the mistakes they made. So, unless you want someone to make a MAJOR mistake on your taxes, and then not care about it, I recommend not to go here.

  Wish I could leave no stars I’ve never have dealt with anything like this in all my years of doing taxes. With money I spent an how unhelpful they are is shocking. Firing people half way thru and still no proper help or giving a refund
