  Whatever you do, don't hire ******************************* at H&R Block in ******* **. This tax preparation "service" is a joke. We used H&R Block for our 2019 tax filings in the hopes that this would be the year we can finally get reliable help with taxes. The initial filing did not save us time, as we spent countless hours reviewing and pointing out numerous mistakes. But we clearly we should have spent countless more. In 2020, we received our first audit letter from the ** state government pointing out that the tax preparer ONLY REPORTED ONE OF OUR INCOMES from the state filing (despite filing both for federal), and we did not pay the correct amount on capital gains as a result of our income level. This was neither a complicated tax loophole nor some intricate detail--it was a complete lack of attention to the basics. After chasing this issue down, we asked ******** if we should file an amended return. He advised that we should not, and that H&R Block would not cover the filing fee for an amended return at this time, but if we received any follow up letters, H&R Block could help with this. We reluctantly agreed to this on his advice.In 2022, we received the second audit letter charging the difference plus hundreds of dollars in interest and penalties. We reached out to Mahendra again (which took some time, as he advised us he only worked on Saturday and could only respond once a day), he changed his tune to say that H&R Block would not cover the interest or penalties, and we should have filed the amended return in 2020. He refused to give us the name of his manager to escalate this, and suggested we speak to customer service.Safe to say, we now do our own taxes.

  I also purchased the Peace of Mind, trusting HR Block with my Tax Returns. I ended up not only losing over $1100.00 in state returns but, owing close to $300.00. This was last year's taxes and to this day, Nov 25, 2022, HR Block still won't release my federal income tax documents to me. They are not available on the web site ( it still says "In Progress") When I call and ask to speak with a supervisor, I get the run around and have actually set up a call back time - that they missed and never called. And the peace of mind garbage: don't waste your money, HR Block will not back up their claims/mistakes. I am giving HR Block one more courtesy call after the weekend and if it still is not corrected, I will be filing a formal complaint with the BBB.

  *************** is a joke. They mislead you and provide you with irresponsible job offers that later they rescind because they don't want to pay accurate benefits. They lie and make a mockery out of the onboarding process submitting you to mediocrity and stealing your peace of mind without even being a formal employee. Then they have the audacity to lie about in person onboarding procedures and when you provide evidence, they stop responding. Don't onboard with them.

  I bought the "peace of mind" trusting them with my tax returns. After a couple of weeks I got a letter from the *** stating that I owed money and got charged interest. When I took this letter from the *** back to the local branch I was told by the regional manager that the "peace of mind" would cover the money owed since Block had made the mistake. The local branch filed the complaint sent to headquarters. A couple of weeks later I got a letter saying my complaint was denied.The response came, after I had tried to call several times with no answer from head quarters, that because there have been so many stimulus credits they were overwhelmed and had a clause in their "peace of mind" stated that mistakes of this kind was not covered by their policy. (the child tax credit).I trusted ***** block filing my taxes and secured myself with the "peace of mind". I will not make this mistake again.

  I had orginally filed my taxes with h and r block in February 2022. I have claim my income and 3 children. I did not receive the covid stimulus check on 2 of my children which was stated on the original filing. I was never told that I needed to claim that on my taxes. After later finding out I needed to claim that on my taxes I went back in March of 2022 and and they filed an amended tax return to receive the **** that I had missed out on. I thought all was well. I continuously called asking why I havent got the rest of my return back and I was continuously told that covid has it pushed back taking ***** weeks. The end of August came and I still hadnt got my amended return back. I called again and they told me the same thing. I went into the office to only find out that my amended return had never been filed. Since then I have filed 3 complaints through customer service to get my money returned for the 300 something they charged me to file and to make sure my amended taxes had been filed. It is Sept 23rd and I still have not had a return call back stating whether my amended tax return has been filled or if I will receive my money back. Everytime I call they state they have to file a new claim. Its the most frustrating situation I have been in.
