      Terrible experience in Ojai, CA. "Master Tax Preparer" and head of this office, Wendy S. made a mistake on my state tax return, and reversed the Tax and Credits so I paid money I didn't owe. She blamed it on a "software error" but didn't catch it - and easy return. But that wasn't even the main problem. I called her 3 weeks later to ask about the payment notice I received from the State and she "mentioned" the error and that she had sent a revised tax return (not a formal amended one) and NEVER TOLD ME ABOUT IT. The state collected my money because the revised return was not accepted. If I hadn't asked, I would've never known. I would've taken her 5 minutes to call me and it would have been professional, but it wasn't. It was unethical. THEN, went I went to the office to talk with her, I asked for a refund of the tax return prep fee - she had sold me "Peace of Mind" which guarrantees this. She said "No, because we're making you whole." Um.. I'm already whole; you're making yourself whole. She was so annoyed that I was asking anything and speaking up for myself. At the end of our 5 minute conversation she says "and if H&R Block denies your claim and you never come back again, it doesn't matter to me!" and walks away. What? Wow. There was more ugly behavior the next time I stopped to pick up the printed amended return. She filed the claim she was relunctant to file for me, but with no documentation of the claim for me to review or even see, total lack of transparency. She's lied, gotten passive-aggressive, and really didn't care about my feedback at all. Gross. I will never go to H&R again. I was with my last tax preparer for 15 years and he retired last year. Oh, and a fairly simple tax return at H&R cost me $355, twice as much as I was paying before. She did this all with a fake smile on her face. Nope, never again. Fired.

      Do not use this company. Not only did they mess up our taxes . I caught the mistake. Filed an amended tax return and was told to write a check to the irs . Which I did. Their system automatically took out how much we owed . So now the IRS has 3 payments. I contacted the manager and all I got was I’m sorry. I called the IRS, A tax advocate& my bank trying to get a resolution.

      We’ve always went to H&R last year the tax lady transposed my income so we had to amend it. This year same lady did our taxes.. she dropped off the last 2 digits of our bank account her response after I caught it 3 weeks later it happens! The boss said the same! Not even an apology.. they won’t call me back.. the refund was over $10k!! We are beyond frustrated

      What a horrible experience. H&R Block messed my taxes up and now they are dodging me ( after 3 phone calls and 2 in person visits to try and correct the issue). This is a store in Maumee, Ohio ( GoldenGate Plaza). The office manager doesn’t seem to care and the associate who helped me cares even less. They have made me feel like I messed up. No help, no concern, lack of empathy. DO NOT GO HERE !!!!

      I have used H & R Block in Klamath Falls, Oregon for several years with no problems. This year, I again paid them to prepare and file my tax returns on March 26, 2024 and as of today (April 4, 2024) they have still not been filed with the taxing authorities. I have NEVER had this happen before and I am more than FRUSTRATED! I understand that their policy is to have a "second set of eyes" review the returns before they are filed, however it's NEVER taken more than a day after they have been prepared for the review to be done. It has certainly NEVER taken over a week for the review to be done. I have tried to talk to someone other than the person who prepared my returns, as I have already communicated with them, but have not been able to do so. I did have an appointment scheduled with another preparer, but was told that I had to speak with the person who originally prepared my taxes, which I had already done. In the past I have always spoken highly of H & R Block and have been very happy with the service I've received from them, but after this year's experience, I will not be using them again in the future.

      I had no issues in 18 years going through H&R Block. I’ve had one email since I was 18 and I’m 39 now. I’m trying to file my taxes and can’t get past verifying I am who I am. I like to note within the time utilitizing H&R Block I’ve had sane email and 5 different cell numbers. All I needed when calling technical support which I was on phone for over an hour, couldn’t help me locate any clue about password or able to update my cell number. The technical support contact nane was buddy and he was talking to me as if I was blind and was very rude not understanding my predicament. Thus I guess is how you treat loyal clients couldn’t help but wasted my time.

      I entrusted my financial matters to Ricardo R*****, hoping for a smooth filing process. Unfortunately, my experience was marred by a critical error that left me from getting tax money back to owing 3k. I was notified by the IRS of the mistake; I reached out to Ricardo. Before my scheduled appointment in the office, he prepared the taxes and called me. I said I set up an appointment and didn't want to sign online. It was prepared when I arrived, he deducted my car and said this is why people buy new cars. When I went up to show him the problem when I was notified byt the IRS, he said I told him my SUV was electric, I said no I would not say that and you already had them prepared, He said maybe govt did not have VIN yet. While we all make mistakes, he should not be doing taxes as he rushes around with people’s money and the IRS. He continued to lie to me, I said all you have to do it say you made a mistake. Every professional is susceptible to error, how they handle it defines them. He tried the blame game and that’s not happening here. The only thing worse than Ricardo is the manager by the time she called me to say he was trained, he went off what I said. I said ok so you are promoting the lie, just say you made a mistake.. she wouldnt so I hung up.. waste of time there.. so irritated they just need to say hey i messed up.. thats all

      My husband and I were in their office for 90 minutes. We have a couple of rental properties and needed to file in 3 states. We did not realize that they charge for every form. Our tax preparation bill was $888!
      We are not millionaires. My husband is on Social Security, No where in their office do they indicate what their rate is or how they charge. We should have asked- but this isn’t a fair rate.

      I had fraud claim that got denied when the charges were from Nigeria and I obviously didn’t authorize them. Now I can’t get anyone to contact me back.

      I had such a horrendous time filing my 2023 tax return this year. Fist off I wanted to pay out of my refund, but the software would not let me. I called customer support and he told me to delete my cookies and log back in. Well this didn’t work and I just deleted all of my other passwords from other accounts. Then they said I couldn’t efile because I had no income or deductions on my 1099 which was not true. I called several times and no one could help me. Finally a lady said I had it listed twice and to delete one so I did. This messed up all my taxes because later to find out they list the income in two different areas. I had to file an amended tax return and then it messed up my California refund. I’m exhausted and needless to say I will not be using H&R Block next year. I have no idea what happened to them and this point I don’t care. Too much hassle. I rather pay someone in person instead of giving them the money for nothing but frustration.
