  My name is Nancy R.
  I received a letter from the IRS that there was a mistake on my 2021 taxes. I was due $721.00. I have spoke to Pathwards since they are the holding company for HR block about this matter. I have the date of deposit, routing number and account number that the funds went into. I have tried talking to HR Block as well as Pathwards and I keep getting transfered to different departments. Please help me get this money that is owed me.

  I went to H and R Block to have my current years taxes completed and filed as well as two amended returns. The overall incompetency is hard to describe. Once my current taxes were complete, I paid for the service and filed electronically. I was told to go to my tax office and retrieve the hard copies of that return and pick up my amended returns. When I arrived, they took someone without an appointment (I had one), and I waited 40 minutes. When I reviewed my amended returns, they were in error and several people had to look at my return before they were able to correct. I was then told that they could file the amended returns for me. In fact, they said they needed to file them since it was 4/15 even though they were amendments for 2022 and 2021. They messaged me on the H and R Block app at 6:41 pm, 4/15 that I needed to pick up the amended returns and file them myself. Of course, I did not see this message since it was through the app. I contacted them after I saw it on Friday, and they told me I had to go to another office to pick up my paperwork. Then again on Saturday I received another message through the app for another location. I went to that location at 1 pm on Monday and it was closed. There were also others outside trying to get in. The others outside called the number on the door and were able to speak to someone. I overheard them say they were going to yet another office a mile away. I also called the number and could not reach anyone, just an automated system. I called the customer service line and asked to speak with a supervisor, and they told me I had to file a complaint first, which I did. I received a survey request in my email that I completed also asking for someone to contact me. Also, no response. I then called customer service again this morning asking to speak to a supervisor and was told that I needed to file a complaint first and they told me there was no record of a prior complaint.

  Went in for a appointment and the agent answered the phones each and everytime while I was getting my personal taxes done for my scheduled appt. And yet I haven't been able to get through the phone lines since attemtping to follow up as to why I did not receive my portion of refund when the wesbite reflects H&R block got their entire portion of their cost. The cost of my return was for exactly what the refund was and per **************** was to receive ballpark $103 or so once their cost was paid and this was not the case. I did not have a W2 only sch C for driving ride share and unemployment and interest for sale of a home. Cost was just shy of $900 filing single. Interesting that last year filing was also the exact amount of the return as well for an H&R block filing as well. How is this legal? Is this legal? H&R block also send coupons as well for filing but not sure if that gets applied or how it even helps. I just don't understand how ones conscious is ok with this practice of taking advantage of others. These cost are out of control for someone that made below $20k for the year it cost me $894 to utlilize H&R block. How it is that the cost of the return was for almost the exact amount of the refund that H&R block convientley received? Disheartening.

  I called H&R Block in Rockaway, NJ to make an appointment with Eric M******. They did not have anything for him until April 15th so Patti, the receptionist, suggested I call the office in Roxbury. I was able to get in with Eric on April 9th. When he was finished doing my simple tax return, he said the fee was $304. I was totally take aback. Every other year, I paid $159. He told me that the secretary should have told me that because they were Block Advisors, that they charge more. I was furious. She did not tell me and when I called her to complain, she told me that Eric was Eric no matter which office I went to. I then called corporate and have had THREE different complaints filed, to no avail. The manager from Block Advisors called and said there was nothing she could do. Then, the manager from the Rockaway Office called and said that the receptionist did not know Block Advisors charged more and that she should have known that. She also told me the accountant should have also told me they charge more. She said there was nothing she could do on her end because they don't have access to my account since it was done at Block Advisors. She agreed I should have only been charged the $159 due to the neither the receptionist or accountant being transparent with the fee. She told me to call the Block Advisors manager back or corporate. I called again today and got yet another case number assigned and was not able to speak to a supervisor. It is only right that Block Advisors or H&R Block refund me the $145 I was overcharged because of their negligence. In addition, the receptionist in Rockaway and the manager, Debbie, in the Roxbury Office were both unprofessional and rude. I will never use this company again and would like my credit as soon as possible.

  HR Block lured me in with a bait and switch scheme. I received an email from HR Block that said “(my name), here’s $150 OFF to welcome you back.” This was sent to the email address I used when creating an account and filing taxes with HR Block previously.
  
  The discount code did not give me $150 off. I was told that offer was only for new customers. The body of the email before the discount code read: “We miss you! Switch back and file with $?15?0 OFF.”
  
  So if the $150 was to “welcome (me) back” and to “switch back” then how is it reasonable to say that code was only for new customers?
  
  That’s a bait and switch. I’m sure their legal department has a way for them to avoid accountability for their marketing departments actions, but it’s clearly shady business practices.

  I regret to say that my recent experience with Xavier Rice at H&R Block was highly disappointing and frustrating. Despite seeking professional assistance with my taxes, the service provided fell far short of expectations.
  First and foremost, Xavier Rice displayed a blatant disregard for listening to my concerns and needs. Instead of attentively understanding my situation, he seemed more interested in pushing through his own agenda without considering my unique circumstances. It was evident that my input was undervalued and dismissed.
  Furthermore, I was appalled by Xavier Rice's assertion that H&R Block was doing me a favor by providing their services. Instead of acknowledging the importance of their role in assisting clients with their taxes, he portrayed it as a mere community service, which was both insulting and unprofessional.
  To exacerbate matters, numerous errors were made throughout the process, which only added to my frustration and wasted valuable time. It was clear that attention to detail was lacking, and the quality of service provided was subpar.
  Lastly, Xavier Rice's condescending demeanor further soured the experience. His dismissive attitude and lack of respect were evident, leaving me feeling belittled and disrespected throughout our interactions.
  Overall, my experience with Xavier Rice at H&R Block was wholly unsatisfactory. From a lack of listening and professionalism to errors and condescension, it was clear that the level of service provided did not meet the standards expected from a reputable tax preparation service.

  If I can give Tina at H and R block( Deland Florida, international speedway location) negative stars I would. Went in to do my taxes & she is so rude & unprofessional. I felt rushed & anytime I had a question she either treated me like I was stupid, or dismissed the question. While I was on the phone with my boyfriend (that I call my husband) I was discussing what was going on and she rudely raised her voice at me yelling saying that if I’m married I better tell her right now! I told her it’s none of her business what I call him. She said it is her business. I had already told her that we aren’t married so he is not my husband & again she yells that I better tell her the truth and then even commented on my band! Yes, the ring is very nice, again none of her business but it was given to me by my dead x husband which I shouldn’t have to explain to her that it wasn’t given to me by my “boyfriend”! . She knew that since it was the last day to file, her real personality showed. as much as I wanted to get up & leave (since she was so rude) she knew that I couldn’t . When I asked her what do people that can’t afford to pay the full amount owed do? ... Her response was “it’s not my problem” with a nasty attitude. Tina is disgusting! She should not be working with people. Tina hates her job and it shows. She had no reason to treat me the way she did. My whole interaction with her felt very discriminatory. If this is what represents the tax professionals at H&R Block in Deland I would stay away!

  I was charged $980 to have them file my 1099’s. I have Multiple Sclerosis & work when. I receive SSDI & voluntarily have taxes withheld of $1740 per year. I literally sat there & provided all my tax documents as I was sitting there. I was doing my part & the tax person was just putting all the information in the computer as I pulled everything that I didn’t have because I was pretty much new to all this 1099 BS. I found out at the end that I didn’t owe federal just state, obviously, because I only voluntarily have federal withheld. Who would have thought. So basically with my Federal return I owe the state the exact amount of my federal refund. Broke even, big deal. Yet paid a hugh amount to have them filled with no explanation as to why it cost me that much.

  I had been using H&R block for a number of years. The first couple of years, I went it was okay. I provided my tax information, and everything was done. The first time I had problems was in 2009, when my now ex-husband had taken out his 401k and owed back taxes. NYS and IRS and when I found out I could married filed separately I was told that they don't recommend this. Yet, I wasn't going to pay for my ex-husband's taxes, So, we didn't use H&R block that year.
  
  In 2019 I moved from Yonkers to Eastchester, NY. I found Brian Waldron, in the White Plains office. The first year, because of covid, I submitted all my forms online (H&R website). In 2020-2022, Brian did my taxes. He did a change of address, and each year I received a letter from NYS stating that I needed to provide proof of residence that I didn't live in Yonkers. That was fun, I had to reach out to the cable company and Con Edison for back address information. These companies only keep documentation for a year. I let Brian know.by voice mail and text. No, response from Brian. Same problem for the next 2 years. Each year I sent them the same information from Con Edison and Cable. Reached out to Brian by voice mail and text to receive no reply. In 2022, I was told a portion of my NYS taxes was going to Yonkers. I was furious, not knowing what the problem was. I called Brian, and still no response. This year 2023, I reach out to asking the law firm for assistance, no luck. So, I called NYS and explained the situation and the representative at NYS was very helpful. She said that when Brian did my taxes, he did change my address, he never changed the school district which still read to Yonkers. NYS said that that I had verified that I did move from Yonkers, toward the end of 2019. I called Brian, to let him know and sent an message on H&R website and on Reddit. Letting Brian, know that when he notifies of change of address to NYS he needs to change the school district. I never went back to H&R.

  Awful company filed to have my taxes down but they never did them and then put me on hold for a while and never ended up doing them. We submitted documents and information and it seemed like they were running an absolute shit show. Pretty much bad all around, customer service the "product" which is doing your taxes and then anything in between. Avoid this company when tax season rolls around.
