This business called me and told me that I owe $5,995 for durable medical goods from a surgery I had in 2018. In the past six years I was never billed for this, nor received an explanation of benefits from my insurance company. They tried to get me to settle the debt for a one-time payment of $2,997.50. When I challenged them about never receiving a bill, they said the National Durable Medical had probably gone out of business, but I still owe it. I asked him to mail me the invoice and he said he couldn't, but if I could give my email he could email me. I hung up on him. Yesterday I received an official looking paper in the mail with the same info. I do think this is a scam, I know that many hospitals and doctors offices have had data breach's.Business Response

I received several phone calls and an email from Mediation Recovery Center debt collectors. The calls seemed to come from a few different phone numbers, but I took one of their calls and they stated I owe National Durable Medical $946.70 for a limb compression device dating back to a surgery on 5/8/2020. Following surgery, I was sent home with no medical equipment. I have never received any bill from ************************ nor do I have a statement from my insurance company stating it was paid or denied. I have confirmed with my doctor that I have a zero balance. I believe this is a scam and in reading several other complaints about *** on the BBB website describing the same scenario. Why has it taken 4+ years to contact me and no bill was ever received.Business Response

I received four phone calls and voice messages from Mediation Recovery Center debt collectors. The calls have come from a few different phone numbers but I took one of their calls and someone named **** stated I owe National Durable Medical $5,995 for a limb compression device dating back to a surgery in December 2019. I have never received any bill from National Durable Medical nor do I have an *** stating my insurance paid or denied a claim from them. I contacted both my surgeons office and the surgical center and both confirmed I have a zero balance. I also contacted my insurance and they have no record of a claim or denial of a claim. I believe this is a scam and in reading several other complaints about MRC on the BBB website, the details are identical, describing the same scenario and in some cases for the exact same dollar amount. I'm even more convinced it is a scam. Why would it take 5 years to hear about this and no bill was ever received. I am concerned they got my information in a data breach.Business Response

I received a call on 12/6/24 claiming that I owe $5,995. for a limb compression device from a surgery I had in 2019. I have never received a bill from my provider or insurance company before this. I also called my insurance company and they do not see any information on their end relating to this. I also have never received any letters in the mail relating to this supposed debt. This seems like a scam.Business Response

On December 4th 2024, I was contacted by *** ******* with Medication Recovery Center. He claims that there is a $5,995 outstanding medical bill for a limb compression device that I didn't not receive back in 2019. I proceeded to let him know I didnt receive this, and I have proof from my old medical bills and records. He proceeded to get upset and hang up. Upon further investigation on BBB, there are several other claims here about the same said limb compression device, for the exact same dollar value, which is extremely suspicious. I have concluded that this is a scam and trying to take peoples money.Business Response

I was contacted multiple times by phone by *************************** stating they were attempting to collect a debt in the amount of $5995.00 on behalf of ************************ for a Limb Compression Device to Prevent Deep Vein Thrombosis. I spoke with the ** that performed this surgery 5/10/2019 and was told that I have no outstanding charges. I spoke to my insurance and they state that all claims have been paid. I was not sent home with any device, I was never billed by National Durable Medical, or anyone else for this device. I find it shocking that the facts of my situation practically match others on the BBB site. I believe this is a scam because it has been about 5 years since my claim and I have never heard of this claimBusiness Response

I received a letter dated October 8, 2024 from Mediation Recovery Center (MRC) claiming that I owed EMS Funding Solutions for services provided by National Durable Medical in the amount of $5,995.00 from February 2020. We did not have any encounter with this company and these claims are false. Upon researching on line, I discovered that this is a scam and the same type of letter simply with different dollar amounts have been sent to others. I am requesting that this claim be removed from any records at *** and that any impact that may show up on my credit report be removed.Business Response

I received a letter from Mediation Recovery Center (MRC) dated for 10/2/2024, but received in the mail as of 10/16/2024. They are stating that I have a debt obligation that is significantly past due from ********** under my maiden name, but I have never had a loan through them. I do not have any of those loans or collections under my name when I continuously check my credit score, nor have I ever received a notice of this alleged loan in mail or any form of writing prior to this notice. *** is stating the current creditor that this alleged balance has been sold to is named ******************************** and that I have two options to repay the balance - the first to make monthly payments of $49.00/month until the entire $1,138.37 balance has been paid off or make a one time payment of $910.70 at a discounted rate. Allegedly I have until 10/31/2024 to begin making payments or to contact them about this matter. From the other people in my situation, it seems as if these debts are inaccurate. Please help. Thank you.Business Response

I received a letter with a notice date of 10/02/2024 from Meditation Recovery Center stating that I have debt obligation that amounts to $988.14 to Cashnet USA which I have never done business with. I have checked my credit records and there are no debt obligations that our on my record. Also, there is no description of what the debt is except for a statement on the mailed document that provides an offer for a one time payment of $345.85 (DISCOUNT) that expires on 10/31/2024. This sounds like a scam and wanted to bring to your attention.Business Response
