I received a letter on 5/13/2024 from Mediation Recovery Center (MRC) dated 5/3/2024 requesting payment in the amount of $1,103.48 on behalf of National Durable Medical. The letter from MRC does not even show a date of service. In their letter, MRC offered to settle for a payment of $551.74. I have no idea who National Durable Medical is nor have I ever received any correspondence from National Durable Medical previously regarding any balance owed. It seems strange that I am suddenly presented with this bill out of the blue. I have good medical insurance with both primary and secondary coverage in place. If this was a legitimate bill and if I had received a previous invoice from National Durable Medical, I would most certainly would have reached out to my health insurance company for payment. I am disputing MRC's claim and requesting the account be closed immediately and any further correspondence in connection with this claim be stopped.

So, I have absolutely no idea what this is for, before I can explain to the lady about anything or to even mention that fraudulent ***** fargo accounts were open more than ***************************************************************************************** even explain to her that I have no clue regarding this account to mail me paperwork proving it, she cut me off and said "okay is not yours im going to send this account to court and *** you. First of is not my account so this account needs to be deleted from any file, secondly. There was no proof of account provided and lastly any fraudulent account over 10 years was reported. On 2/15/24 I got a call from a HI number ************ saying they are from MRC. They said the debt was related to ************************ But they havent been named that since 2014. The only other balance I can think of that is close to the debt they said I owed to them, was to another hospital that I just got surgery done on a little bit ago. The amounts were incorrect, they didnt even have the correct address on file which again leads me to believe this is fraudulent. They said they had spoken to me before asking for validation of debt before today, I never had, they said they sent it to my old address, I never received it. I also called the hospital and the ******* medical group who owns the hospital, they cannot pull up any information on me. I want this closed immediatley or I will take legal action. The lies and deceit is disgusting.

We did not know the account was under dispute until we talked to the consumer on 2/15/2004

I received a letter from a collection company called Mediation Recovery Center/MRC. Telling me that they are trying to collect a debt on National Durable Medical/EMS Funding Solutions. I had no idea what the debt was for or when it occurred. So, I requested a validation of the debt on 07/20/2023, 08/1/2023, 09/20/2023 and 10/30/2023. As of today, I have received nothing back from this company. The only thing I know about this debt, the account was sold from one company, to EMS Funding Solutions. Who is that? Not one letter or document proving that I owe this debt. I have heard nothing from this company since I received the first letter telling me that I owe some debt. Since this company had decided to go silent, Im starting to get concerned. I don't want this account to hit my credit report or get a process server showing up at my job because this company says I owe some hospital or doctor from years ago. I have worked hard to keep my credit score up and clean of negative accounts. And now Im in limbo because this company cant follow the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act .

I have received several letters and phone calls from this place concerning a supposed ******** payday loan that is in collections with them. The guy immediately had me on guard when he launched immediately into some nonsense about how he was calling "in response to my application with ************ and that I needed to pay him in order to get my card (which is approved, manufactured, and already on the way, not to mention I've used the virtual card twice), but he also claimed that this was from 2014 which would make it beyond collection. Also, I checked my credit reports and no such debt is on them. I called them back and let them know all of this, to which the lady kept saying "** huh, ** huh" and eventually I told them about their shady looking website and hung up.

I am rejecting this response because:

      Sincerely,
There never was an account in the first place to close. I received a rude and passively aggressive threatening call from this business who somehow knew I had applied for a credit card from *********** (which made me very suspicious right away) claiming that I needed to pay a debt with ******** for 800 dollars or I would not be approved for the credit card (which was a bold faced lie as I had already been approved for it and used the virtual card for 2 purchases). I also checked all three of my credit reports and no such debt existed. I did initially think that maybe my ex-wife, who is a homeless drug addict, may have done this but Ive looked into things, and thats not the case This was obviously an attempted scam.

      Complaint: 20978782

I am rejecting this response because:
Then why did I receive a phone call from your telephone number shown in the attached screenshot? That is the number that the guy who claimed that I could not be approved for the credit card (which he named the company first, not me) unless I paid the phony debt called me from. Either the business is lying or their number has been compromised by a spoofer. I am not confused, I was contacted on that day, at that time, by that number by a person claiming to be from your company (all in the screenshot) that tried to extort me for 800 dollars over a debt that NEVER EXISTED. It was not closed. Either the office is a scam center, or, like I said, the number has been compromised and the company needs to take immediate action to avoid potential liability if someone falls for it.
      Sincerely,

      *******************

      Business Response

      Date: 12/13/2023

I am not saying we didn't call you because we did. In the complaint it states something about we were offering a *********** card? We only called because we had an account placed in our office on 1/18/2023. The account was *********. The phone number we called ************ was updated on your Experian credit report  by Cap One NA on 12/8/23. We received the update because we had the account in collections. The account has been closed

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
However, in order to avoid the confusion in the future, perhaps have staff members making calls who have a more firm grip on the English language who can speak it without an accent that makes them incomprehensible. It was this difficulty in understanding your agent that caused the snafu. All I could make out was something about ************* (which turned out to be Cap One, so you say), an old charge off from 2014 about something or other, and that I needed to close the account or whatever, like I said he was hard to understand. Regardless, the debt was never valid in the first place and was either imaginary or caused by fraud through my "indigent" ex-wife". Be more careful that your people speak clearly, concise, and with the correct pronunciation and elocution required for speaking on the phone.
      Sincerely,

These people are despicable. I am currently active duty Army and have been on active duty since 2009. In March of 2017 I was in a vehicle accident which required an ambulance to transport me to the hospital. I had insurance which covered everything. Or so I thought. Almost six years later (spring 2023) this company contacts me and says I owe them for the ambulance transport. After the *** gentleman berating and threatening me we find out the original ambulance company never billed me or my insurance. No worries, I can get this fixed. I contact ***************** and get all the information for *** to submit a claim for an older debt. I have been at military training and come to find out *** did not want to deal with my insurance and instead just hit my credit report with a collections write off. The failure to properly bill the insurance at the time of service (admittedly not *** there), the way I was spoken to by ***, their failure to provide the insurance company with needed documents, and lastly *** hitting my credit with this while I was away and unable to do anything shows how they treat people.

This account was closed on 9/2- We send the account to be deleted off of credit report on 9/15. Your account has been deleted.  Credit Bureaus can take up to 4 weeks to update their records. If you need it to be removed quicker an easy way is to go directly to credit bureaus and file a dispute. That goes electronically and gets handled much quicker by them. Its free and only takes a minute if you decide to do so.

Similar to the numerous complaints posted on the BBB page for Mediation Recovery Center, I received a letter from MRC alleging that I owe $1800 and that I could get a discount for a one-time payment of $1440.MRC Account #******** Original Account #********* Original Creditor: National Durable Medical Current Creditor: EMS Funding Solutions I called the number provided in the letter and spoke to a woman. I asked her to provide an written accounting of the alleged debt because like the other complaints, I had never heard of National Durable Medical before this letter. I was verbally informed that the debt is related to a breast pump ordered in September 2018. I informed the woman that the breast pump was covered by insurance and that any disputes should be taken up with the insurance provider.I further stated that the statute of limitations in the ************** is 4 years, and the debt is currently 5 years old. I was incorrectly told that I was sent multiple letters about my debt, and I do not just get to ignore the debt for 4 years and get away with it. She quickly said that the account would be kept open, and she hung up before I could say that I was disputing the debt.Given the similar timelines described in other recent BBB complaints, it sounds like EMS Funding Solutions bought a bundle of time-barred debts and is attempting to collect on people who are not aware of the statute of limitations pursuant to TX CPRC ******.

I was contacted by phone from a ************* about a bill I owed. They did provide me with information of mine. They said it was a payday loan I think but the balance is ****. They told me to make a settlement offer I did of ****** but I could not pay it today and they wanted me to pay half today and half next week. I am concerned because last time this happened I paid for something that I later found out was a scam. They gave me a number to call which is ************. I filled bankruptcy in 2010 and I have never had an issue with anyone calling saying that I owe them. The same as other complaints, I received a bill from MRC on 8/3/23 for leg compression device. I believed this to be in reference to a recent surgery. Only after a 2nd conversation with MRC did I become aware this was for a surgery in 5/2018. I never received any communications from the original Creditor National Durable Medical, or the ordering Dr. I believe this to be a fraudulent bill. It has been 6 years with zero communications. I did pay $49 as the first payment believing it was for my recent surgery, while I waited for my insurance to confirm. Now that I am aware this is for a supposedly 6 year old bill, I am positive this is fraudulent.
