EcoShield promised to rid my property of ants roaches and spiders by the second visit of treatment. They did not kill anything that was noticeable. The insects population expanded exponentially. They would not retreat any areas and refunded $495 out of $1000.

September 15, 2024 RE: EcoShield Pest Solutions-***** Acct#: ******* Dear **********************:********************** solicited my neighborhood one early evening in 2024 and made promises to me to be the best exterminating service around. I decided to give them to try, not appreciating that I might be liable for additional fees even if their service was poor and I discontinued using them. After the first follow up visit, the representative spent about 10 minutes at my home using a mop on a stick to wipe down my windows and doors to get a few dried caterpillar cocoons off the windows and doors. When I asked to have the inside sprayed for palmetto bugs, he replied that we live in *******, and its normal. The representative never even checked the bait in the few rat traps left after their first initial visit. For this 10-minute visit, I was charged $160. I decided that this was not the kind of service I expected or wanted. I am 84 years old and a U.S. Air Force veteran. I felt that this last service wa suboptimal and probably a scam. I informed EcoShield of my disappointment with their services and was terminating my relationship with them. I could not trust them to do things honestly. Then the harassment began for several months, and now a collection bureau is trying to collect $400 that EcoShield says I owe them. I have lived in the same house for 50 years, and I know when I am dealing with people who are not trustworthy. I should be able to terminate an agreement without penalty when the promised services are unsatisfactory. Sincerely,****** M. ********, M.D.

    Hello,

Thank you for reaching out with your concerns. I want to sincerely apologize for any possible miscommunication during the time of sign-up. For situations like these were information can be quickly ran through or mistakenly missed, we send out a welcome to the family text highlighting the three most important details of our contract, which lists the type of contract you are on, the billable cycles, and the cancellation process which states if you decide to term your contract, you are responsible for paying back the discount given to you at the time of service. All of this information was sent in a text which was acknowledged and agreed to when you responded  "Yes" to that message.

Given the situation, I am truly empathetic and want to part ways in good standing. With this being said, I am going to do a one time courtesy waive for your remaining balance on the account as an act in good faith. I hope this helps and you are able to find the treatment that is most helpful for your home.

Ecoshield showed up at my door and pressured us into using their services, stating they were more cost effective. They said we could cancel at any time but they offered a contract for the services which at the time I agreed to. I have since realized that they are redundant to another service we already had and they were much more expensive. I called to cancel my service speaking to two different employees on the phone to cancel. They continually send me text messages, emails and mail stating I now owe them a fee of $231.00. I spoke to another representative today who told me again I owe them $231.00 as a cancellation fee. I did not agree to a cancellation fee. I see that charging cancellation fees is a common issue with them with other customers who have also filed complaints with you. I refused to pay the fee, and told them I do not want to receive any more contact. I would like them to adjust off the fee and I will never use them again.

I want Ecoshield to discontinue my contract without penalty.During the initial pest control service, the technician left a black box with rat poison in it. I didn't request this. Rats died in the walls of my home making the bedroom and bathroom unusable for 2 weeks due to a tremendous smell. After 2 weeks the smell dissipated only to be replaced by numerous large flies all through the home. I called and requested a cancellation of the service since I did not want to repeat the experience. The representative said that I could not cancel without paying over $200 in cancellation fees. His solution was to offer a discount for the remainder of the contract.Since the company did not provide a service, but rather provided a horrendous problem, the contract should be voided. I am considering contacting an injury attorney and requesting damages for the two weeks I was unable to use my home. A better and less expensive solution would be to have Ecoshield Pest Control go their own way and let me go on my way. One way to create problems is to try to force money out of an unhappy customer.

***** from ECO SHIELD came to my door selling the company service contract for pest control services. I explained to him that I am a renter and that I wasn't sure my landlord would allow me to use their service rather than one the homeowner chose. ***** told me that I could sign up that day taking advantage of their 'special' and cancel any time if my landlord didn't want to use their service. I received my first treatment and didn't see an improvement, but the technician explained that in order to see improvement (we had wasps), we would have to have at least two treatments to break the 'egg cycle'.We didn't schedule our second treatment, but a technician just showed up at my house one afternoon and proceeded to treat my yard. I explained to him that my landlord did not want to use their company because they have their own pest control company and told me I'd have to call the office to cancel the contract. THAT'S where the fun began!! I spoke with *****, one of the company ************* Specialists, and explained that I needed to cancel my contract because my homeowner did not want to use their company for pest control. He gave me the run around for almost an hour and finally agreed to cancel my contract, but I would have to pay for that day's service (that I didn't authorize) in the amount of $208.09 and a cancellation fee of $211.00, and promptly emailed me a bill. I explained to him that *****, my original salesperson told me that I could cancel AT ANY TIME without penalty, and ***** went on to tell me that I had signed a two-year contract, and the best he could do is postpone my services, so I wouldn't be charged (which made no sense). Since that day, I receive multiple daily phone calls and almost daily texts and emails reminding me that I have a balance due!Their sales tactics are predatory, and their salespeople aren't honest. I'm asking for cancellation of my contract and removal of all debt owed! BEWARE!!

    Hi *****,

Thank you for reaching out with this information. I took a look into your account. For your service charge from 7/26 in the amount of $208, I unfortunately am unable to waive due to product being used. As for the cancellation charge, I will do a one time courtesy waive for that so you will only owe 208$ instead of $440. I will send an invoice showing that balance zeroed out. If there is anything else we can do for you, please let me know.

I am rejecting this response because: the services were unauthorized.

Your technician showed up at my door unannounced.

I have already paid for the original date of service and I'm ok with that. Those services were authorized and scheduled.

I am again asking for full credit and my account balance brought to zero. I am not willing to pay for unauthorized, unscheduled services.

    Hi *****,

Thank you for reaching back out with this information. I understand where the frustration lies with the back and forth when it simply came from the homeowners preferences. I spoke with the manager of your branch and we got this handled. As of now, there is no fee on your account. If there is anything else I can do, please let me know. Have a wonderful week.

On July 11, 2024, an Ecoshield employee rang my doorbell and explained he was working with a small family owned business providing pest service to all the new members in my new townhouse development ( **********************). He said it would only take a few minutes of my time. He explained the services they provided and showed the huge discount he would be giving me that day of I signed up. He stated that it was a bimonthly service and I could cancel at anytime without fee. He did say I could not cancel after the first month or else they would charge a fee but after that I would not have to pay a fee. He also did not read the contract to me nor tell me about a 3 day cancelation policy. He made me sign quickly on his tablet and answer yes to Im not even sure yet upon receiving a text from EcoShield on my watch. We have now had 2 months of services and I tried to cancel but they are now telling me I will need to pay $270 to cancel which was never verbalized to me. They are saying there is no manager to speak to regarding this and that I signed the contract so I need to pay the fee. They will not listen when I tell them I was falsely convinced to sign something where I was never given all of the information verbally or written. The written contract was never presented or sent to me until after I signed my signature. I would like this company to cancel my services without a cancellation fee as initially explained.

This company guarantees 100% satisfaction of their product.I signed up for service and they sprayed their product in my front and back yard on August 7th. After the 7-10 days it takes for this product to take affect I reported back to the service agent I signed up with along with videos and pictures of numerous new ant piles in both front and back yard. He said he would send in a work order to have the company come back out and respray with a touch up as a curtesy. They came back out on the 23rd for the touch up, and charged me ****** for the biannual treatment. They never said their curtesy touch up is actually going to cost the consumer ******. On the service agreement which was never shown to me in full detail on the day I signed up with the representative at my house, it even state they would come out for a touch up if not satisfied with their 100 percent guarantee on the product. The more concerning aspect of this situation is my dog received numerous ant bites on her head/face from rolling around in the yard as dogs do, from the ineffectiveness of their product.

This is a pest control company. They serviced my property on 4/29 and 5/30. 1st their service had no impact, there were still bugs after treatments. The technician that performed the service on 5/30 was extremely rude and unprofessional. The original salesperson told me I could cancel at anytime, when I called to cancel they gave me the run around for a long time and would not allow me to cancel. Finally, after a lot of arguing they said there would be a cancellation fee which was never mentioned previously. Their customer support is off shore and it seems intentionally designed to frustrate people into giving up trying to cancel. There are definitely some deceptive business practices going on. They are now harassing me for the cancellation fee, which I am unwilling to pay. There is no way to communicate with anyone from a local office they always route back to off shore customer service.I am not looking to get any refund, at this point I just want them to stop bothering me.

Signed up with this company to service my property, which was a mistake.I had someone else servicing my house prior and we didnt have any palmetto bugs or other issues. Since we signed up with this company we started seeing alive palmettos in the house almost every 1-3 days which is grosss. Especially when you are paying for a service. During the time of employeeing their services we got ground hornets in our backyard. They came out two more times to try to irradicate them without success. On top of that whatever they sprayed on my bushes ended up killing my bushes. The best part is that when I tried to cancel with them for not perfoming at what they were hired to do they tried to charge me $236 for cancelling the contract.Essentially they cannot complete the service that they were hired for. The sales rep told me that they have a 100% guarentee in which he made it sound like I would get my money back if they didnt complete the job. Turns out the guarentee is that if they cannot complete the job then they will give you one future service for free. Why would I want more service from a company that isnt completing what they were hired to do. Them requesting more money after the fact and threatening to send me to collections is just insulting

While palmetto bugs are not listed as guaranteed pests, our products can assist in managing their population. I am rejecting this response because:

    Hello,

When the sales rep approached me he said that Roaches (Palmetto's) are on the list of bugs that you guys treat for. As you can see the screenshot taken directly from your website. Prior to hiring you to complete a service that was advertised by the sales rep, we had no issues with bugs with our current bug control service from a different provider but the "Eco" aspect that you offered seemed worth it to try. Since we employed your services we started seeing roaches in the house almost every other day which was not the case prior and on your watch we got a hornet/wasp infestation in our bushes in which you guys sprayed 3 times and could not get it under control. The only thing that I got from you is my bushes dying and turning yellow/brown from whatever was sprayed.

I hired my old pest control company and in one servcice they got rid of the hornets/wasps and since they sprayed the house we have not seen any roaches in the house at all.

At this point I dont even care about the refund for the services which were not complete. I would like to cut ties and be relieved of the $236 invoice that you are trying to make me pay back from the so called "discount" which you offer to everyone regardless.

    Sincerely,

on April 12th, Ecoshield lied to me while selling that all my neighbors bought the service and same he did with my neighbors to get them and me into 12 month contract. Also, they promised they will take care of the pest issues in and out of the house and anytime within the span of the contract. While selling the service the guy from ecoshield falsely claimed that we have mice in our backyard and added a 150$ bait station which later on their technician said it was waste as bait station doesn't work near water body and we have pond in backyard. After 2 services as well, I am getting lot of pest in and around my house and after contacting them on 6/6, they are not providing any appointments and stated that they don't have any near appointments as they have lot of customers. They don't want to give an free appointment because every 2 months as per the contract they come and service and charge us 150$ so if they have to come in between , it will be free and it doesn't make them any money.I want to get out of the scam and get my money back.

    Business Response

    Date: 06/22/2024

    Dear BBB,

We would like to clarify some of the claims mentioned by the consumer. The customer was not charged $150 for a bait station. Bait stations are included as part of our Bi-monthly services and are complimentary. Attached is a screenshot of their invoice account summary.

The customer requested follow-up services for pests that are not covered under the ************ Services they signed up for. This was explained over the phone.

The customer has since chosen to close their account and paid the annual commitment discount payback for canceling the agreement prematurely. There are no further charges, and no refund will be provided as all charges have been reviewed and validated.

Customer reviews posted prior to July 5, 2024, will no longer be published when they reach three years from their submission date. Customer reviews posted on/after July 5, 2024, will be published indefinitely unless otherwise voluntarily retracted by the user who submitted the content, or BBB no longer believes the review is authentic. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this company, please let them know that you checked their record with BBB.

As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
