Psimo y pauprrimo!Review fromBarry P

1 starI reserved an Escalade on Expedia and received a different car at the counter. When I set up the Expedia information, I did not select the Loss Damage Waiver as it's covered by my AMEX card. I also informed the rep at the counter that I did not want to take the insurance. She gave me a 4 page document with many signatures required and with all the rush from family to get going and people waiting behind me, I may have signed on an X she put on the paper for the LDW I didn't want. I've called Hertz 4 times trying to resolve this and keep hearing "its been escalated" but still no resolution. I will dispute this charge with AMEX and not use Hertz again.Review fromRyan K

1 starIf I could give less than one star I would. Absolutely horrible business, stay away. Do not rent from Thrifty, Dollar or Hertz. Theyre all owned by the hertz corporation and they are all equally terrible. I booked and paid for a rental car from thrifty three or four months ago for a weekend wedding in ********* in which I was a groomsman. I arrived in ********* on time for my reservation and found the thrifty rental car counter was closed (Dollar was closed as well) and a sign that directed all customers to the Hertz counter. I waited in line for over an hour before I was helped. They announced it would be another 2 hour wait AFTER getting helped at the desk. I was close to the front at this point and decided to just tough it out (after all, Id already paid). Upon finally getting up there I was told that they needed a $500 deposit for a debit card. Trying to pay the deposit they told me that they would not accept my card because it was not a brick and mortar bank, which is ultimately ridiculous. I tried to ask if my wife could pay the deposit. That was not a possibility either because the reservation was not in her name and because I had already paid, they could not change the name on the reservation. Hertz employees were not helpful, sympathetic, or apologetic in the slightest. The woman that was helping me was indifferent and borderline rude to me and my wife. We asked what they could do to make an exception or help us. There was no care for us or good customer service and they told us that they wouldnt help us. The woman told me I have to call either thrifty or Expedia in order to change the name on the reservation, since I had already paid, as she so graciously explained to me. Finally, exhausted and frustrated, I gave up. I went to Enterprise and got a car in 5 mins. Because of Thrifty and Hertz I would missed the rehearsal dinner for my friends wedding that I was in. It was only because of Enterprise that I actually made it.Review fromAlexis J

1 starThis experience is as terrible from beginning to end. We picked up from ********* and dropped off in *****. Stl had the rudest people, tried to close the door and not help but also help.other people. ***** was very rude and left us standing around until the man that sat in the rental stated we didnt need to do anything and could go ahead and go. 5 days after our deposit was given back we were charged a gas fee. We filled the tank up on the way to the drop off and over a week of traveling, we lost the receipt. No one took any proof that the tank was on empty and they said its nothing can be done unless there is a receipt. This experience was trash from the $500 hold plus fee for rental. There has to be a better way for hertz to process their rentals! This will be my last interaction with hertz! Ill buy a bike and travel 300 miles before renting from hertz!Review fromFrank V

He is on a major power trip, refused to rent me after I paid for a reservation, just because he "didn't like me".... Stay away. 1 starWhen I arrived at DFW Airport 11/5/22 my original rental was with Thrifty Rental which the counter was closed at the time, so I was instructed to visit to Dollar rental counter about my reservation. I walked to the Dollar rental counter and was told there waa no cars available and no ETA when a vehicle would be available. I asked is there anything that could be done so I wouldn't be stranded at the airport during my vacation and was told to try Hertz. I walked over to the Hertz area and there was a line full of people. I ended up calling Hertz and spoke to a representative who set me up for a rental for $160 due to me having AAA she stated I'd receive a discount. We finalized the reservation and she assured me that I'd have a car once I checked in. I waited in line for about an hour and finally checked in with a very nice gentleman at the counter only to be told there was no cars available. I waited an additional hour and he finally got me set up with a compact vehicle even though my original reservation with Thrifty was for a nicer car and my Hertz reservation was for a full size car. He mentioned to me that I shouldn't pay for a full size car due to availability issues. I finally checked out and went on about my vacation. Upon returning home I reached out to Hertz because I noticed I was charged $211 which was obviously more than I was told I'd be charged. I originally spoke to a representative named Gloria who was very unhelpful and just kept repeating the same information which I then requested to speak to a supervisor. Gloria gave me a hard time about the request before finally reaching out to a supervisor and while I waited she hung up on me. I called back and got in touch with a supervisor named Alex who did the best to assist me and stated I'd be sent $100 off voucher for my next rental. It has been almost a month and I have yet to receive any rental voucher. This entire experience has been very unprofessional on Hertz behalf and I want this resolved ASAP.Review fromMarie V

1 starWe have rented from Hertz many, many times, and has been a positive experience, until most recently. We had a car reserved for 4 days. Upon arriving at the rental office, we were told that they only had one vehicle available in the entire lot, so it was either that or nothing. It was not exactly what we wanted but we chose to rent the vehicle anyway. Unfortunately due to weather we had to cancel our plans so the car was returned the following day, less than 24 hours later and only about 25 miles driven. We were given a voucher and return explaining that the total amount charged would only be for the one day, and we would receive a refund for the unused days. Two weeks later, we called Hertz to find out the status of our refund. After being on hold for over 20 minutes, we finally got a person and were told they do not refund for unused days nor do they provide account credit for future use. We were under the impression that Hertz would have been grateful to have the car back as they were so low on available vehicles. Likely they were paid TWICE (once from us, and again from the next renter). To add to this frustration, we have an actual receipt that shows an "adjustment" with credit and an actual "total estimate charged" of only one day. If refunds are not provided, then why is the rental office not aware of this to tell customers about this when they return vehicles early? We are never renting from Hertz again.Review fromaaron B

1 starWe rented a car for two days through dollar rental car out of Laguardia airport (20th ave and Queens blvd). We drove straight to my parents house on Long Island where the vehicle was parked in a driveway for the next two days. We drove the car back, parked the car in the return area where the attendant told us to go inside to complete the return. When we returned home we received a call from the manager of the car rental agency stating that he noticed the damage on the front car and wanted to "make sure we were OK". Obviously, we were not involved in any sort of accident and the car was parked in a driveway, head in for the entire two days. We tried calling back several times to no avail (the number stamped on the rental car paperwork is non-operational). Long story short, $2400 worth of damage that we were on the hook for. 20 years of renting cars and not a single problem until now. We now take before and after pictures of the cars we rent and make sure that the attendant signs off on the returned vehicle before we leave. We will NEVER do business with Hertz or their subsidiaries again.Review fromGary W

1 starReserved a midsize SUV, got a small compact, took 20 minutes to get released from the Hertz lot after we got the car, low tire pressure light came on right after we left the lot. Hertz initially claimed they could not find our reservation. Had to provide reservation # for them to find it after 15 minutes.Review fromGerry O

1 starGave me a car with a flat tire, no gas, horrible alignment, and reaked of marijuana and cigarettes. Then had the audacity to charge me a detailing fee to clean up the mess they left me with. Thieves that waste your time and money, customer service could not be more horrific here.
