ABSOLUTELY do not rent from Hertz ! -On September 4, 2025, I flew into the Shreveport Airport with a prepaid reservation only to be told there were no cars !!! Didn't matter I had proof it was prepaid - it was an "Oh well" moment--Its been almost 2 weeks and I have not been credited - there were at least 10 people "waiting" for cars... I did not have that luxury - I had to rent from another agency that cost me over $300 more. I have listed to songs for over a 1/2 hour and I am feeling like I was scammed... a computer generated voice answers and from there it is constant music !

At the Hertz Car Rental in North Augusta, SC I received the poorest service in 50 years. While picking up the vehicle, the rental agent skipped the damage inspection, leading to a disputed dent that Hertz Car Rental initially blamed on me, and wanted to hold my insurance company liable. I contested the damage and asked Hertz Car Rental to view the camera footage to verify the attendant had not conducted a damage inspection. I also offered to take the car to a body shop to access how long the dent and rust had been there. After contesting this damage, and causing me a great deal of distress, Hertz acknowledged their error, claiming the paperwork was incorrectly completed. Hertz Car Rental claimed the car was rented elsewhere and the dent was unreported. Hertz assured me I was not responsible, and the $200 deposit would be refunded in ten days. The fact is that it was ten minutes before closing and the rental agent was rushing to close the business for the day. That is why the rental agent neglected to complete a damage inspection., After the dent stunt, Hertz Car Rental deducted two additional days from my deposit. The vehicle was due back on Saturday by 11am. I called Hertz Rental and told them I would return the vehicle by 11am Sunday morning instead of Saturday. Hertz Rentals requested I return the vehicle Monday am since the office was closed Sunday and did not have a drop box. In ten days, I was refunded $62.88 partial deposit. I called Hertz Car Rental and told them I was instructed by Hertz Rental to return the car Monday am and there would be no penalties. Hertz Car Rental ignored my concerns and said the transaction was final. The rental agent said the manager Tabitha would return my call and to date I have not received a call back. My perception of Hertz Car Rental is shattered. How surprising and shameful a company of this enormity would go thru these steps to gain additional profit is astounding to me. In the future, I will not use this location again

Fake business. You call Hertz to book a car c rental. They are booking rental for Enterprise car rental instead. You go through all the hassle. They say you must pat $84 non-refundable and pay the balance over the counter when you arrive. When you arrive ,Enterprise has no car for you. Hertz calls other Enterprise car rentals..they have no cars are available. Then I lose my $84 because it's a scam. My day is ruined. I can't attend a funeral event today that is 2 hours away.

Hertz pulled the rental car from my driveway with all my personal belongings still inside. I have been calling the support team, roadside assistance, and the Santa Clara office, but no one is able to locate the car or my items. This is a terrible experience, showing complete lack of accountability and customer care. I expected much better from a major rental company. Never rent Hertz cars.

Arrived in Shreveport @ approximately 4:15pm, went to hertz to confirm reservation, for a Yukon style vehicle, told by Cindy I had to wait for the vehicle to be brought upstairs have a seat. After 45 minutes, I inquired again, told by Cindy they have Tahoes available just text crew to tell them a customer is waiting. After another minutes I inquired again a crew member was heard telling Cindy there’s no Tahoes available for rent only to buy. They then confirm there was a Buick Enclave available which was sufficient for my party of 7, so I expected. Now during the rental process there computers were have issues, Cindy process three separate payment if $278 on my CO credit card without clearly explaining what was going on. She just kept saying I have to do it again the computer didn’t give me an authorization, which didn’t print a contract. She then made a comment “like it good you have this available on your card” which lead me to look at my phone where I saw 3 text from Capital One, that lead me to ask Cindy did you just charge my credit card 3 separate charges of $278. She stated she had to because the system wasn’t printing the paperwork, she said the charges would come off tonight. I explained to her, that not the point, she should have fully explain what she doing before charging my card almost $900. This whole experience was terrible for I was only in Shreveport for one day for the daughter’s graduation and now I home and the charges are still pending on my credit card.

Rented a car a month ahead of trip with confirmation number. On arrival day we were told they had no more vehicles. Left us stranded in an unsavory part of town leaving us no choice but to Uber to Boston. Hertz refused to refund any of our Uber costs due to there incompetence. Needless to say, my family and business will never use Hertz again.

On a recent trip to Atlanta Ga. We rented a Jeep for three days.
While returning the vehicle it was very clear that the Hertz employee had no interest in speaking with us.As we were rushed along I forgot to leave the key in the vehicle. I didn't notice that I had it until i was going through security.
I tried calling to see what our options were and was repeatedly sent to a voice mailbox that was full. After many attempts to get a hold of someone I received an email telling me to mail the key to an EMAIL address. I informed Hertz that I would send the key back next day air if they could give me an address. The next morning I received an email stating that 24 hours had passed and I owed them over $300 even though 24 hours had not passed since we returned the vehicle. Hertz had no problem sending me a statement of charges at 9 am while I was still at the airport but they couldn't be bothered to call the phone number on the rental agreement to tell me I had forgotten to leave the key.
It makes me wonder how many people they get with this especially with the new vehicles that only use a key fob.
