      Dirty cars. Never answer the phone. I got to the location and called while in the building. The phone doesn’t even ring in there. It’s a waste of time. I had fraud on my account. I wanted to know if I could change my payment method because I wanted to extend. After over 20-30 calls. I actually called the 1800 number and they didn’t know the answer. Received a email stating that I could add a card as an alternative payment. Got to the location. Told them. They said it wasn’t possible. They canceled my contract. Open a new one and the vehicle I had “now needed a maintenance check”. They tried to give me a disgustingly dirty and old vehicle. That smelt like smoke and throw up. I had then void my contract! I use the car for uber now I am without a vehicle and pay

      Business Name: Hertz Car Rental Category: Auto Rental Complaint Summary: I was issued a defective vehicle by Hertz through Lyft Express Drive, told it was safe despite a visible warning, and ended up stranded twice in one week — now they’re trying to bill me for repairs. Details: On June 24, 2025, I picked up a vehicle from Hertz and immediately noticed the tire pressure light was on. Staff swore up and down it was clean and safe to drive. That same day, the rear tire blew out while I was on the highway during a Lyft ride. I was forced to pull over with a customer in the car — a dangerous and avoidable situation. On June 26, 2025, the vehicle’s battery completely died in the middle of the road. I was stranded from 8:30 PM to 1:30 AM. Hertz refused to tow the car unless I paid, so I had to use my personal AAA membership. I made 4–5 support calls before a rep finally admitted the problem was with the vehicle and assured me I would not be charged. Despite this, I am now being billed for tow and repair costs. I was also refused a replacement vehicle until their repair shop “confirmed” a quote. On June 27, 2025, Hertz had the vehicle towed from where I left it — without informing me — and removed my personal belongings from the car. This included an unopened bottle of honey mustard and a pack of resealable baggies from Sam’s Club. I was not notified or given a chance to retrieve my items. This is not only unprofessional, it borders on theft. Between the unsafe vehicle, mishandled support, and now loss of personal property, I feel completely mistreated as a customer. I am requesting: • Immediate cancellation of all charges • Documentation that this faulty vehicle was the issue • Reimbursement for the AAA tow • Assurance that this does not impact my Lyft driving account Hertz put me and my passengers in danger twice and has handled the aftermath with misinformation and poor customer service.

      My experience with Hertz has been incredibly disappointing. This all started over a scratch on a rental vehicle, something minor that I took full responsibility for. In February, I came to a verbal agreement with their collections team to pay off the balance through monthly payments. I was never asked to sign anything.Since then, Ive made consistent payments, only missing two months, and resumed payments immediately. Despite this, Ive been met with increasingly threatening and coercive emails from Excel O******, demanding a one-time payment with the threat of third-party collections if I dont comply. I was told early on that I could make payments in the $80$100 range, and at no time was I advised that missing a payment would void the agreement. Now, I'm being told the plan is no longer an option and that the claim has gone on too long, even though the monthly payment schedule we discussed would run until at least December. Ive made every effort to settle this in good faith, but their shifting terms and refusal to acknowledge previous conversations make it feel like they can change the rules at any time.I would strongly caution anyone against using Hertz. They have shown zero empathy or flexibility in a time when financial pressures are affecting so many people. Even when you try to do the right thing, youre met with threats instead of understanding.

      Weather cancelled a trip to the DC area last week and the location at Reagan Airport will not consider refunding any of the reservation! We did not depart from Memphis as flight(s) were unable to depart, attempting to contact the Company numerous times last Tuesday. Very disappointing that we are being penalized due to weather. Thrifty has disappointed me and as of now we will not use them again.

      Hertz at the airport is unprofessional and the car issued to me was unsafe. The first car we rented the rear back up camera was broken I took the car back immediately and spoke with Deborah. I also showed her a picture of the rear view camera display that appears as the driver is backing up. The second car smelt awful like weed. Found a third car. The cR drove fine until we got on the interstate. It made a loud roaring humming sound intermittently and at different speeds. Hertz customer roadside service was called and Tiffany was the person we spoke with and she was nice and helpful and understanding. We told her we were bringing the car back the next day (today) back to Louisville Kentucky airport where it was rented. She gave us a reference number to tell our local Hertz rental service office documenting the incident and phone call conversation. My Hertz roadside case number was ********. Today I brought the car back and spoke with Deborah and told her about the car experience. I also mentioned the reference number ******** from the representative and she stated she could not access that information and did not try to look in to it. She called the manager to escalate the issue but then told the manager she will deal with it herself because the manager was busy but still offered to help. Deborah typed the issue in the computer system and said she would tell the mechanic about it. I also asked about the inconvenience and reimbursement for returning the car prior to the date it was due. She said she could give us $25 to use towards our next rental and it had to be used within the year. I was also confused because we rented the car for four days but only used three days due to it not being safe. She stated she charged for a weekly rate, 5-7 days. Honestly I would not want to rent from this location. Deborah was not helpful and did not seem concerned about the rental car nor the safety of its customers.

      The FACT they haven't become a BBB member says a lot: Rented from Hertz local office, Vallejo, CA. 5/20/25-5/28/25. Returned rental to my body shop. Agreed upon beforehand at 4:30pm 5/28/25. Hertz employee told me ticket closed but turns out Hertz kept rental invoice open, charged extra day. To this date, 7/6/25, with plenty of run around, buck passing, on hold phone calls reaching past 25 mins, no answers, I've yet to have my deposit returned. Hertz DOUBLE CHARGED ME ON ?? FUEL. Btw, they charge 3 different taxes. Thus far, its obvious they are cut throat thieves. Their "bad" rep is well deserved. DO NOT RENT ANYTHING FROM THESE HORRIBLE PEOPLE. I've turned this matter over to the State Attorney General's Office. Hertz should be penalized for this foolery. Today's date: July 6, 2025. Zero. Nada.

      The worst rental company to choose..I had 10 free rental days after spending 2000 dollars with them and one day they just disappeared along with the rental.receipt and I called and emailed for.2 weeks with no help and no manager to speak with and corporate is trash to with their unwillingness to.speak with my.directly while communicating with me.through 1 email every so.often. I will be going through enterprise from.now.on. I will not be paying them because I had free days that just magically went away so they can get that money in blood. If I could leave negative stars...I would..they don't even deserve the 1 star I HAD to give them

      We paid a $500 deposit returned the car a week ago and still haven't got our deposit back when I call they say they did but when I call my bank they say they didn't I will never do business through them again

      I fly into **********, Im also a hertz gold member. I have 2 cars reserved because of the issue with suspicious lost reservations. I go to pick up my rental only to be told by the 3 staff, I interrupted enjoying ******** on the clock we dont have any vehicles! I politely asked why didnt I receive a notification? Her reply was oh we dont handle that stuff! Thankfully another rental company was able to accommodate me. As I left the airport to pick up my rental from a different company and as Im walking I notice there are over 15 cars parked in the hertz dollar parking spaces. I look into the different vehicles and many of them appear to be clean and operational. When I returned for my flight departure I stopped by hertz to see if the manager was available. He came out and I shared with him what I thought to be false and misleading business practices along with just horrible customer service. His response was just the worse from a so called manager: His reasoning for not renting cars to customers including ********************** gold plus members was the cars were dirty and in need of cleaning and he didnt have the staff to do it!He wasnt aware that I looked into some of the cars and many were more than acceptable to rent. I asked then why couldnt one of the 3 workers that were there wash or clean. He just shrugged his shoulders! I asked then why couldnt he clean some of the cars and his reply was I was off. My last question was, then whats the purpose for even having the counter open? He again shrugged his shoulders like that was an answer. Hertz a company that is rebounding from bankruptcy will be ruined once again if they dont remove horrible employees like ***** ******/manager and the whole staff there in ***************************************************. They all need to go! Sad to say I hate replacing real people; but robots could do a far better job than this group of paycheck poachers or workers who show up for a job but dont want to work when they get there!

      I’m leaving a zero star
      They blamed me for a cracked windshield charged my card without notification then over a month later tried to collect again with 300.00 more added to the bill.
      They are unorganized, undertrained, and deceitful.
      DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM THEM!!!
