1 starI tried to rent a car from this the through my insurance and the local ************* collision center and after two months of cruel treatment and discrimination I gave up and had to ****************. During the two months attempting to rent from Hertz I was talked down to, hung up on, forced to hold for long periods of time and then hung up on, I was told I was to wait on a manager who never picked up the phone (not once but several times) and then hung up on then as well and all while this treatment is occurring, I'm still attempting to to get a rental (where I had to drive there, wait, move and transition my two year old in and out of my vehicle with his car seat stroller and the child himself) because I'd like my car fixed. Every time I sucked it up and went back in there was another reason why they couldn't service me. First, names aren't input correctly, second, they didn't reserve or schedule properly the right vehicle, a 3rd attempt was my fault, I didn't realize they needed physical card (just for full disclosure) and the fourth and final attempt they mysteriously can't find my reservation, the reservation that not only I, but also the collision center, had confirmed only days prior. With every attempt (with my child in my hands) these people are rude, unaccommodating and downright racist. After two months of being treated differently than the other patrons every time I entered the store (by more than one employee) and then still never being serviced as expected I realized that I was being discriminated upon and that this was not ever going to happen because this angry and ornery woman (girl) hates me for what I look like and how I sound. She doesn't know me and is obviously doing it on purpose. Why cant I get a call back from a manager and every time I call she says the manager is in a day long meeting and will have to get back to me?Hertz you have a problem and it isn't your lack of customers attempting to rent your vehicles.Review fromSharukh K

1 starTook an hour to get the rental car we had reserved on 12/30. They "upgraded" ** for "free" to an SUV because they ran out of full size cars. We returned the car to ********************************** on 12/31. Got a call four days later that it had never been checked in and they were charging us for the additional days. Resolved this with a quick call. Get the final receipt and they charged us $20 in fuel despite having returned it with a full fuel tank. Tried to call and figure out a refund- their phone tree directs you to their online services- where the form they reference to submit (with pictures) doesn't exist. Additionally- we had to log in to get our own receipt- they never provided one. Worst rental car experience ever.Review fromLORNA W

1 starExtremely disappointed! I had booked a Tesla a month before our rental date for my husband as a Christmas present. Hertz was aware of this and very accommodating saying they would even give us an upgrade to a Tesla Y for him as it is a present. I thought this was very kind. HOWEVER, when we arrived we were given a Tesla 3 (which is fine...not a problem) but it only had 48% charge. It had only 48% battery on it and we were planning to go to Banff straight away. We were told we could get there and have 8% battery remaining. I am definitely not taking that chance in the winter. If there is an accident or a traffic hold up then we are stuck on the highway in the winter in freezing conditions - this is an extreme safety issue they put us in. (Rental companies rent vehicles with a full tank of petrol...of course they should rent a vehicle with a full charge) They knew a month in advance of this booking....we did not just walk off the street and say we needed a vehicle! The car was extremely dirty inside and out - it was not washed at all from the last customer. Filthy. Plus, I am very cautious of car companies and check cars thoroughly before I leave the lot. The gentleman who gave us the keys was very annoyed I was taking photos and checking it. He kept telling me that he already did that and that is would be emailed all the photos. He was very rude with me checking the damage myself. It's a good thing I did check it myself because the email with all the photos did not arrive. Extremely upset with this hire car experience and the ruined Christmas present idea for my husband.Review fromDanel V

1 starRented a car in December and added the insurance to it. Unfortunately I got into an accident a few days later and the car had to be towed. I proceeded to fill out all the necessary paperwork and turn it in hours later to the Hertz desk at ***. I gave them the police report as well as the towing information on where the car could be found. I spoke with a lovely woman supervisor and she proceeded to tell me I had "NOTHING MORE TO WORRY ABOUT" since I got the insurance on the car and I had turned in all the paperwork. A week later I got home from my vacation and started receiving phone calls and charges on my card for not returning the car. I called them back and told them I had already given paperwork on where the car was. Hertz was extremely confused on where the car was, had no idea about the paperwork, and told me I should have called them. They said they would be in touch. Now 2 weeks after that I am charged an additional $800 because the car sat on an impound lot and I was also responsible for towing. That was never communicated to me, I never received a bill, and I was under the impression I was not responsible as had been communicated to me by a supervisor. After calling them they refuse to talk with me further and just keep stating "you have to pay". They will not let me talk with a supervisor and give no further explanation. I was not ever notified there would be extra charges and I told them where the car was immediately so I am not sure why I have to pay for it sitting on a lot that whole time. Terrible communication with the rental location telling me something that differs from company policy. Thats unacceptable.Review fromLisa S

1 starI rented a vehicle at the Nashville International airport yesterday to drive back to Chicago. I left Nashville at 11am today. When I got to Kentucky the vehicle started to smoke and leak fluid. The engine then cut off. I called Hertz for assistance. They picked up the car through USAA and assured me that I’d be able to get another vehicle at the Louisville airport. I never got the Lyft that was to pick me up and never got compensated for the time I was without a vehicle. I drove 300 miles and paid $873 for it. There’s no regard for anyone’s finances or things that are most important. They just don’t want to assist. There’s me and 3 small children now stranded and they have no regard for the well fair of myself or the children. This is blatantly rude and disrespectful. I’ve lost a lot during this time, including the money they have taken from me for a rental that failed to get me to my destination safely. It’s as if they care more about the car than getting me and my children home. This is my first time renting from Hertz and I assure you, IT WILL BE MY LAST! I have never seen such poor customer service in my life and both locations need to be reprimanded for what they have caused me and my family to endure. This should not have happened. Everyone that I spoke with today has done absolutely nothing to assist me and my family! I’m PISSED AND I WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND HOW A COMPANY OF THIS MAGNITUDE ALLOWED THIS TO HAPPEN!Review fromLoni R

1 starHertz is a horrible company, with horrendous service. My rental was faulty and the car's airbags did not work, which caused an injury to my head and neck due to being t-boned. My lawyer requested that Hertz allow us to investigate the car so we could file a lawsuit with the car company (Nissan) in regard to the airbags. Instead of allowing the investigation, Hertz sold the car for parts within a week of the accident, indicating that they knew there was an issue with the car that could lead to a lawsuit. After the accident, they threatened to ban me from ever renting a car through them again (which I never would anyway). I do not recommend this car rental company. My entire experience with them was traumatic and I now have a permanent injury due to their willingness to rent out faulty vehicles with no remorse toward the paying customer.Review fromHolly G

1 starI had to rent a vehicle due to my car being totaled. I was told $30 a day and charged $60 a day. I selected economy car and they gave me an SUV. I was also charged an additional $200 for a damage waiver fee. There details of this fee is if there are any damages to the vehicle. I called and told them I returned the car in the same condition they gave it to me except for a little dirt at my feet. I had the tank full when returned and no damage. They said it was a fee they had to charge. I am so unhappy with this company!! I was lied to about charges!!!Review fromskip s
