1 starI'm Back, unfortunately. The beat goes on. I reserved a rental car through AAA NE on 2/22 for 2/24 9am pickup. I was refused by sales associate claiming there was a hold on my license and to call a 1- 800 # to resolve. The # was to their Fines & Violations department where I had zero violations, transferred to another # and placed on hold. This fiasco ensued for 40 minutes when I finally spoke to the person that got to the truth of the situation. The (not so) kind folks at PWM' Hertz rentals were the culprits who placed the "Hold". It doesn't end there.I decided to extend for 2 days to honor the 7 day AAA rental booking. I showed **** where it reads...1 week rental- $249.00 I showed him my receipt from AAA. He charged me $57.00 more anyway. I told him I would be disputing, he then said " Then I will not release a rental to you".The man made me beg after stalling me for over 45 minutes!!Might I remind you I have a big *** target on my back here in ***** after blowing the whistle on a suspected insurance fraud/money laundering ring. It appears the fine unprofessional folks at Hertz rentals have my name on their list of customers to deny respect. This is not the 1st business to retaliate against me. I've resolved to report this unprofessional and questionable treatment towards me here with you. Documenting here will hopefully send a clear message to future on the take(?) or biased businesses from following suit. This situation has been going on since 2018. You can imagine my frustration. I am an Accredited Business member with BBB - ******** ********. I've since been run out of business. You guest it. It started with a review from *********************...remember her?Organized crime is real in *****. Also, just read a few of the reviews here, wow...just wow.Review fromLorry S

1 starThe car I was given had a shake and loud noise, sounded like a helicopter hovering. I called the ******* location where I rented the car from to ask what to do or where I should go. No answer so I left a message. An hour later the tire blew and I was left stranded on the side of the turnpike for 10 hours, with two young kids in the car. I waited on the phone for 42 minutes for Hertz roadside assistance to answer. Once my call was answered, Hertz had zero options to transport my family to safety. I finally found someone to pick us up and Hertz instructed me to leave the car with keys inside. The roadside assistance representative and *************** counter where I rented the replacement were very nice to speak to. However, Hertz did not take care of my family and I will never again rent a subpar maintained vehicle from Hertz.Review fromGary K

1 starTerrible customer service -- I rented a car through Priceline for Hertz for pickup at *** in *******. Tried to pre check in using the Hertz app and after multiple app after multiple tries I was told to go to the counter. My plane arrived in ******* at 10:35 pm and I arrived at 11:15pm at Hertz to find the counter had closed already. I walked outside to find a employee in the lot was told to come back tomorrow morning. AS this is not an option as my hotel was an hour drive away and it's now close to midnight I had to rent a car from **** for $400.00 for two days.Hertz was more than happy to refund my original fee's paid however have no intention on compensating me for the new car I had to rent at fault of my own. I was offered a $50.00 voucher and that they don't want to set an example of paying for other rental cars. Hertz is NEGELAGENCE of not honoring a contract that we joined into by at least providing me a vehicle and not making me whole for their incompetence.Based on my latest experience with Hertz I will never do business with them again.Review fromAngela s

1 starWe rented a car and when we took it back they said it smelled like smoke. I have neen the only one driving it because mine is in shop. They basically accused him of smoking. When he came back out to my car i saw the lady in there making gestures towards my husband.I walked in there and told her i saw her thru the window She got really rude and kept saying ok ok whatever.Thats not how u treat customers in anyway. When I asked for name and number of manager she refused. There crooks trying to charge someone for quote smoking when Im the only one driving it and I dont smoke.Accusing and being rude is no way to treat customers who pay your salaryReview fromDon M.

1 starThey took my money for a reservation at a pickup location that did not have the vehicle when I found this out and tried to switch locations to one that didn't have the vehicle they wanted me to pay a second rental rather than transfer the current reservation to a new location. They say this is their process to keep the money on the first rental and refund that and 7 to 10 business days and charge you for a new rental so in essence there's keeping your money and using it for those 7 to 10 business days.Review fromPaul G

1 starMy wife and I rented a hertz vehicle. It broke down on the second day. No help was sent. After we had it towed where they specified, we waited for a cab that they never sent for us. Lastly, a week later she was informed the car was stolen. Then she was informed that was an accident. They are dealing with a law suit now but I wonder how many other people were affected and never acknowledged in the law suit.Review fromJessica R.

1 starSoo similar to other people, we tried to rent a car on friday morning, but they "didn't have any compact cars", which is fine, but they just HAPPEN to have one car left, a mustang. The price jumped from 91$ to 400$. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? So, they told us to call support like always and find a car at another place. They had one at the airport for $200+. They should honor the price! They're making us pay more on purpose as all Hertz are closed on Sunday and they know people return vehicles before the end of the weekend. It's all a money tactic. Rediculous. Agreed, NEVER BUY THROUGH HERTZ, OR NEVER GO THROUGH A THIRD PARTY UNLESS YOU CONTACT PRIOR TO MAKE SURE THE CAR IS THERE. Good luck and be safe out there.Review fromAmanda N

1 starSTAY AWAY! Hertz Car Rental - ********************************* scammed my husband and me out of $228. On 2/4/23, we arrived to the Hertz TLH counter on time and had an older woman (not sure of her name) help us get our rental car. We signed for the rental car, had a great trip, and returned it on 2/6/23.A couple days later, we notice an additional $228 charge on our credit card for 4 different types of insurance that had been added without our verbal consent. Mind you, we already have AAA and our own car insurances, so why would we even want/need 4 additional types of insurance? We NEVER verbally stated "yes" to wanting any type of car insurance the day we picked up our car rental. This employee must have wanted commission and snuck in an extra form for us sign.Fast forward to 2/10/23, I ended up calling Hertz customer service, and the agent stated we would receive a refund in **** business days. On 2/22/23, I still have not received any refund, so I called the Hertz customer service and spoke with a supervisor (******) who told me that Hertz TLH denied the request for the refund. ****** told me the only way to receive this refund is to have a manager at this location approve my request. On 2/23/23, I called Hertz TLH which took a total of 18 phone calls (3 of them I was "accidentally" disconnected) in order to get through to a manager; this process took from 9:37AM-11:51AM per my phone records. I spoke with 2 different managers (**** and *******) who informed me they will not approve my refund request despite everything that has happened. The managers were fixated that they had our signature on this form and couldn't look past the situation at hand to offer us a "one time courtesy" refund.I'm at a loss for words at how greedy Hertz runs their business. I will NEVER use Hertz ever again; they have lost a loyal customer.Review frommarie L

1 starI rented a car rental on Priceline.com and I paid that up front, which was $203.27. So, when I got to the airport, and I went to get my car the Hertz employee asked me if I wanted the extra insurance, I said NO and I declined it and initialed. Asked about the *** I said I'd fill up before I returned the car. He told me there would be a $200.00 hold on my credit card and it would be removed upon return of the car. They ended up charging me $209.46 for the rental. First you could not get a voice everything is automated. I then sent an email, and I was told I signed for loss waiver damage & they sent me a copy of contract. I specifically told agent I did not want extra insurance, and initialed that I declined the coverage, when he asked me to sign, I thought I was signing for the rental., turned out I signed for loss waiver damage. They said they hoped I understood and would not do anything for me since I signed it. I will never rent from them again. I feel I should be reimbursed for the $209.46 since I paid ahead of time, and I was misled. If I could give the stars I would. Awful customer service!!Review fromBrandy M

1 starWe arrived at 1:00 am with paid reservation in hand to be told that there weren't any cars available. After waiting an hour, we were offered a *****. We didn't know how to drive one and spent over 3 hours in a span of 4 days charging the car, but it was better than being stuck without anything 19 hours from home. We then had to pay $227 in insurance fees even though I called ahead of time and was told that we could use our personal insurance. The lady at the counter said that customer service didn't know what they were talking about. It was pay or no car. I just spoke with customer service and she said that since we signed for the insurance- there is nothing that she can do. It seems extremely unfair that you are pretty much held hostage to pay and accept whatever they offer or you're just out of luck.
