1 starHighway robbery! My rental broke down and I had to get the car started myself. When I was on hold for multiple hours I was told Id get credit, it somehow disappeared when I returned the car and was told they would not issue any credit because the car was booked through Expedia. Every single person I dealt with at Hurtz was a complete failure at customer service. They should get OJ back to rep them, he would be a perfect representation of the quality of Hurts.Review fromChrista M

1 starPoor business practices!! I rented via 3rd party reservations and paid my fee. I picked up the car and thought I had no problem only to find out I had been duped at the counter. I refused the insurance but did accept premium service so that they would assist if I broke down. Additionally, I was quoted a 35.00 fee daily (this was in addition to my rental fee) but it was presented to me as the daily fee for renting the car and there was no indication that this was an extra charge I could refuse. Like most, I signed and paid and went on my way none the wiser that this extra fee was not part of my original rental fee as I was led to believe. When I called them on the practice, I was told I had signed and they would not refund. I did sign on their representatives explanation of the fees. I was told I should have read the explanation (& while that's not entirely untrue,) they know that no one is really reading the fine print when these transactions occur. (after 2 hours on a plane with a line of people waiting behind you) I was definitely taken advantage of. I have never had this kind of issue with Enterprise Car Rental and I will 100% take my business to them from now on.Review fromDeJanelle L

1 starMade a reservation for a midsize SUV from Hertz 3/2/2023 through Expedia. Purchased the issuance through the site. Got to Hertz to pick up my rental and was told it was no longer available and was given a seven passenger vehicle. Was also told the last car was not available due to the employee using it for the week to take a trip. The total charges to my card $401 with deposit. The representative tried to force me into a $26 daily insurance that I didnt request due to already purchasing through Expedia. The next morning the tire was flat on the vehicle during a rain storm while with my 2 year old son. I Called ***. Was told there would be a $68 additional charge for the change. The tire was inspected by the *** Tech and I was told the air slowly leaked *** to the cap being loose. Went to exchange the vehicle was told Id be charged an additional fee due to the size of the vehicle for the exchange. Got my receipt this morning for a total of $428 this included $150 exchange rate and $78 fee for the tire. I have been calling the location all morning due to leaving 1 item in the vehicle and I have not been able to reach anyone at the site. I guess these types of practices are common after reviewing how you hidden fee people who try and use your service. No one gave me an honest number and the price given doesnt match what anyone said on the phone or at either site. Shame.Review fromDalvin C

4 stars***** at *** Hertz was a huge help! My license is expiring in less than 2 weeks and there was no notice that your license cannot be expiring within 30 days of the car rental. ***** spoke with his manager and was able to still provide me with a rental car for my vacation. He was able to make the start of my vacation with ease!Review fromAjay T

1 starI'm writing to express utter disappointment with your customer service. It is so pathetic that I have understood Hertz doesn't care for customers. Let me narrate what happened with me on the night of March 2nd, 2023. My car got hit by another car at 9:00 PM on Esna Park Drive and Rodick Road in Markham, Ontario, Canada.. My rear wheel's axle bent and there was warning to not drive. I realized I had to tow the car. I called Hertz customer care at 9:20 PM EST. I needed emergency roadside assistance to get the car towed to a safe parking. They connected me to an expert who took in my details for literally 45 mins and then put my phone on hold forever. This exact thing happened 7 times. I called and someone would take my details for 40 minutes to 1 hour. But still no help and no updates. 6 out of 7 times, my call went to the US. There was no recording system where they would get back to information they took for hours from my previous calls. It was so frustrating. One call that was taken by someone in Canada assured me that she's sending a tow guy with eta 1:00 AM. I waited till 2:30 AM and no one came. I ultimately drove my car to the nearest parking. This was so risky for me. Then I got my uber and came home around 3:00 AM. I would have never waited so long for help had I known that Hertz has a bogus customer service. Extremely sad how you treat your customers and how obsolete your backend systems are! You can't even imagine how this harassment caused me so much stress and pain. I'm a single parent and my son was waiting all this while at home worrying for me. If you could understand, I survived an accident and I'm still under a shock. I really feel like I should sue you guys for being so insensitive and indifferent to your customers. And not understanding the seriousness of emergency. Could you please tell me how you can compensate me for not doing justice to your customer promise??Review fromPriscilla R

1 starVery similar experience to other reviewers here. Despite prepaying for my car rental through AAA, and declining additional car insurance at that point the customer service representative asked me if I would need car insurance, which I verbally declined and believed I was signing digitally on their tablet, as "declined." I was given an estimate of charges that when I asked if that was additional fees I was lied to and told I would be responsible only for the difference, pertaining to toll charges. Instead my total bill more than doubled ultimately, for car insurance I turned down digitally twice and verbally once at the counter upon pickup. Customer service was horrific, fraudulent, delayed and incompetent as they were unable to provide me with the compact vehicle I had reserved in advance. Customer service over the phone was rude and incompetent, arguing that I "had signed the contract" after multiple calls of being routed to automated messages. Will never again use this company.Review fromJustin P

1 starHERTZ MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE A LOWER-CLASS CITIZEN OF THE 60'S, PUSHED TO THE BACK OF THE BUS. A 1-HR 20-MIN WAIT, WITH TWO SMALL KIDS AT THE AIRPORT, JUST TO PICK UP A CAR. I arrived with my spouse, 9-month old, and 2-1/2 year old at the Reno/Tahoe Airport. My family and I arrived at the Hertz car rental office in the baggage claim terminal of the Reno/Tahoe Airport at 11:20am. There were two long lines. The express/Gold member line had about 6 people. The regular/non express line had about 15+ people, which serpentined the entire length of the strap guards and extended beyond it. Initially, there were three people working the front desk. Within 10 minutes or so, there were only two people working the front desk. The express lane people were served first. The regular line people were served second. By the time I reached the front of the line, 1 hour and 20 minutes had passed. It was 12:40 by the time I was served. But just before I was served, a new line of people showed up at the priority line. I spoke out to one of the clerks and said I'd been waiting for an hour and 20 minutes and that I have two small children who'd been waiting as well. We were also up against an impending snow storm that afternoon. The only reason I was served, is because the second person in line of the priority lane overheard me and allowed me to go ahead of him and the other 5 people who were now behind him. I have never had such horrible uncalled-for service. To top it off, the clerk told me, the priority people would be served first because they were faster to check out. I hope Hertz goes out of business. What a way to treat a customer with two small kids. Appalling.Review fromRiqi C

1 starIs 0 stars an option? I was traveling with my family to Newark Airport and one of the Hertz employees called my father a liar. My father asked if there’s any cars available and she said no, when my father was able to see cars on the app. This led to her calling my father a liar. Hertz hurts your self esteem. That should be their tagline!Review fromJames K

1 starWe initially rented a vehicle from Hertz through Uber as my wife and I do Uber (so the car would obviously be used for Uber trips) and we paid $360 a week; kept the car for like 6 weeks while we tried to save for a down payment to buy a car. Was never given the $200 deposit back and upon return of the vehicle they charged us another $500 cleaning fee for a few per hairs. We cleaned that car up and down and apparently we missed a couple dog hairs from service animals that Uber passengers brought with them & were legally obligated to take their service animals too. Anyways, worst bunch of crooks at this place !!! Will NEVER rent another car from them nor would I want to for $360 a week ??
