The Rental Process was good. But I returned the car in the same condition as I rented it, and I filled the gas tank. I returned the car a day early, which was February 2023. It is now April and have yet to see my deposit back on my credit card. I have contacted them several times and received the same reply. I need to check with my bank, which I did twice. My bank has no record of the deposit. They insist that I received it. I have not to this day. I would like people to know that Hertz Rent A Car cannot be trusted and will keep your money.

Hertz at ***************************************************************** is an actual scam. They gave me a car that needed the air filter changed so badly that the ** was unusable. It is 90 degrees. I waste two days to drive and return (their phone number says the business is temporarily closed) and they give me a car with expired registration. The car is literally illegal to drive for work and yet they refuse to give a refund. I am about to drive there for a third time to attempt to speak with someone who might help but this is probably another waste of time and money. This location will lie and cheat you just to make a buck off of cars that shouldnt be on the street.

THIS COMPANY HAS CHANGED FOR THE WORSE! I was a customer (presidential customer) with Hertz for years, which means for years I spent thousands of dollars on rentals. I have always rented thru them for my business and the last 3 years or so, it has been horrible. Customer service is the worse, reps are extremely rude and unhelpful. I have sent emails asking for someone to contact me about this matter because calling customer service will only cause me a headache and anxiety. I had this issue in septmeber and after several emails, no one STILL havent called or emailed me back. Besides being charged for tolls when I have a sunpass, I was repeatedly over charged and to make matters worse, my last rental was repossessed even though my rental was extended which I still have the CONFIRMED email stating it was extended. On top of losing money for missing work, I was humiliated and embarrassed. Clealy the amount of money I was spending with them, I was not trying to steal a vehicle but when I looked on the news and seen this was an ongoing problem for them since the bankruptcy, it all made sense but didn't excuse the fact they made a mistake and then put me on DO NOT RENT, and have yet to contact me about this issue. This is not right!!! Specially for me when I was spending a heck of a lot of money weekly and monthly. Customer service reps cant understand me and I cant understand them and the ones I do understand are unhelpful and rude, will hang up on you and or put you back in the que waiting for long periods of time. THis have caused me so much anxiety and stress! This is NOT OK!!!

We're to start, I rented a car in ******************* and was driving around ******** site seeing when my above knee prosthetic started acting up. I called the Hertz # and let them know what was going on and I had To go to the VA in ********* for repairs and adviced him I would drop of the car off at the *****************, originally he said there would be a $500 dollar drop of fee but due to the circumstances he would wave that fee. I asked for an email and I was told the calls are recorded so I had gotten his ID# and I kept records of what time I called. I received my final bill and to my surprise there was a $500 charge on it. I called every Hertz# I found on line and the contract and just got the run around. One lady said she would split it. By now I was not going to do that because of what I was told originally it would be waived. I wish somebody with some kind of authority would contact me.

DO NOT RENT FROM HERTZ!! Besides the Mission Viejo, CA location renting my 18 yr. old daughter a SUV that had holes in the battery, yes actual holes. The Hertz tow company I had to call after the battery died could not believe what he was looking at. The vehicle was towed to their yard in Newport Beach where they were supposed to close out the agreement. They didn't and the nightmare with this company was only starting. This 11 day rental turned into a 28 day rental. Hertz called my insurance company AAA and asked if they could get us to return the vehicle. WTF, we don't have your vehicle, your tow company took it and we did not get another rental. They tried to charge AAA for the "extended" period of time. AAA would not pay so Hertz changed my daughters credit/debit card she had to use to rent the vehicle. I consider this theft, she had to contact her bank and get a new card issued. Somehow they processed another charge which we disputed. Many calls to Hertz customer service, showing up at MV location, they said call billing department. Calls to Hertz billing department. Hours and hours wasted, emails to Customer Service, more calls to billing department. Some charges were reversed but still trying to collect $57.00 for miscellaneous charges due to my daughters bank sending them a charge BECAUSE THEY STOLE MONEY OUT OF HER BANK ACCOUNT WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION. They don't want to waive the charges, they want her to call her bank and have them reverse it. Oh hell no. What happened to this company? Never again and I will tell everyone I know to never use this company.

Stolen phone by not returning it, replying to a claim and then using it. This company in the ATL airport initially communicated and then stopped. Since then iPhone finder showed it offline for days. Then was online where I have SS of where it was in the office of hertz. Then once I paused the internet the phone was turned off and I was blocked from my Autistic son’s phone. Called the regular line and demanded to speak to the manager(Karen moment) and they said they would call back in 5min. It’s been an hour and no call. It seems hertz is okay with no customer service when it comes to an issue. They only care when it comes to making a reservation.

Do not rent from this company. Employee incompetence is beyond belief, especially within the Hertz customer service department. Instead of honoring a $150 credit voucher and giving me a refund, they repeatedly told me to contact my credit card bank to get the amount due refunded to me. When I did so by supplying the bank with all the "evidence" justifying the refund, Hertz began hounding me with mailed bills and emails to get this refund / credit back. Unbelievable since I clearly spelled out in two letters mailed to them why the refund was legit and that I did what they told me to do. Now they threaten to turn the matter over to a collection agency. Background = I prepaid for a car rental in October 2022 for pickup and return at the Eagle-Vail airport in Gypsum, CO in early November 2022. I had a $150 credit voucher that I wanted to apply to this rental so I called Hertz customer service to get the procedure. The agent said to charge the full amount to my credit card and present the voucher at the airport desk. Well, the airport desk employees (equally incompetent) had no clue on how to apply it but convinced me that it "in the system" and the amount would be deducted from the amount I charged. WRONG. After multiple attempts writing emails and letters to Customer Service to get my refund, I finally called my bank and got the refund. I can only imagine the suffering those 350+ renters that Hertz reported them stealing their rented cars when they actually turned them in and paid the bill. Glad they won the class action law suit. Wish I could give zero stars. It's not fair to those actually deserving of one-star for Hertz to be considered equal. Customer Service is basically a black hole. Even worse, I've got 10,000+ points but in trying to use points for two different trips coming up, neither rental was eligible. YET I DON'T SEE ANY RESTRICTIONS ON THE WEBSITE RELATIVE TO THE DENIAL OF THE RENTALS I WANTED TO MAKE USING POINTS. I see Hertz as dishonest, corrupt, and absolutely horrible if you EVER need customer service. I have made my last rental with them. Strongly encourage you to never rent from them. The sooner they're out of business, the closer we may be to a rental company that actually is honest and cares about customer service.

I rented a car from Dollar (Hertz) in Orlando When I got to the counter there were 40 - 50 people in line. I waited an hour to get to the counter and then spent another half hour at the counter because of a system problem. Finally headed to the garage only to find there were NO cars. Waited with 20 other people as they brought cars around one at a time. I took me longer to get a car than it did to fly to Florida. The car was fine the first week but in the second week I had to call AAA twice to get the car started. I called Dollar and they told me to return the car to Ft. Myers for an exchange. When I did I found out they have a separate office just for people returning cars with issues and there were 6 people ahead of me in line. AAA told me they were not maintaining their cars and it seems they were right. The new car operated fine for the last 2 weeks and I returned it to Ft. Myers. However, when I got home there was a charge on my credit card from Dollar for an additional $1063. My original contract for the 3 weeks was $1450 so I called Hertz Customer Service to find out why I was being charged an additional $1063. The womanI spoke to was not helpful but said she would summarize our discussion in an email to Ft. Myers and ask them to investigate my complaint. the next thing I received was a bill from Dollar charging me an additional $2273!!! You can't make this stuff up!! I have written to Dollar billing dept in Dallas and I have copied Hertz executives. I am hopeful someone with common sense will review this and correct it.

Absolutely THE worst customer service I have experienced with a national company. I am trying to add a day to my 5-day reservation with HERTZ. In other words, I am trying to spend more money with them. I called the local office in San Diego, only to receive a circular message. You can't reach a San Diego CSR. So, I had to call their Customer (non)Service 800-number. The CSR, who is not in the US, could not understand basic English, which made communication almost impossible. I asked to speak to a Supervisor, was placed on hold for 11 minutes at which time the call disconnected. I received several, what I assume are call-backs from them on my cellphone, which I answered, only to find no-one on the other end. I called their CS 800-number, again, spoke to a CSR and learned that HERTZ will double your rate if you change your booking, even if you're ADDING to the booking. So, instead of adding to the booking, I asked about a one-day rental. While the CSR was looking up the cost of the one-day rental, I went onto the HERTZ website. This CSR attempted to charge me double the rate that is publicized on their website. When I pointed this out, the answer was 'Oh." He then booked the car, one a one-day rental, at the rate on their website. Understand what this means. I will need to drive 20+ miles back to HERTZ to return the vehicle that they will turn around and re-rent to me on my original booking. I then get to drive the 20+ miles back to my hotel. How's that for Customer Service?? In short, HERTZ's customer service is, quite simply, abysmal. My only satisfaction is in knowing that I will never rent a car from them again.
