1 starHertz writes contracts and guarantees vehicles or vehicles similar to the one they charge you for. After your card is charged and you contact the pick up location the location then informed me that they would be "upgrading" me to a full size car that gets 20 mpg less than the vehicle I paid for. Hertz is a horrible rental company. Then since they can't accommodate my rental contract tell.me I have to wait 7 to 10 business days to get the money they charged me for for product they couldn't provideReview fromKenneth B

1 starMy credit card continues to be charged 6 weeks after my rental for erroneous charges. I have no access to a live agent. This is a disgusting scam if a company. Avoid at all costs.Review fromRonald C

1 starHertz takes advantage of Uber drivers. If you are reading this review and have been debating on utilizing the Uber-Hertz rental program, I strongly suggest finding another option. Hertz has hidden fee's and holds that will certainly cause your account to be eventually overdrawn. I was making weekly payments that were auto drafted from my account. After the first month renew, all the hidden fee's instantly became visible. In addition, Hertz double charged me for the entire month lump sum after I had already been making weekly payments. I am seeking legal advice right now stemming from my decision to trust ***************** with Hertz. The worse business decision I ever made.Review fromTa U

1 starRented a car on 4/11/23 to pick up on 4/14 in ********. Got there only to find out it was a $500 deposit and credit check in order to use my bank card so I cancelled and went to a different car rental place. I called on 4/14 at 8:06am to cancel my rental because the people working the desk have no way to do it themselves for whatever reason. That lady said Id have my money back within 24 hours. I didnt. I called again on 4/19 and was told my refund hadnt been issued and it would be on that day. Still no money. I called back a couple days later and they tell me my refund was processed but I have to wait **** business days. I wait. Still no refund. I call again on 5/4 and now they are telling me I have to wait another **** business days while they escalate the issue. The customer service people have no idea what they are doing and are extremely hard to understand. This company seems to think its ok to steal peoples money and not disclose the fact you have to have a credit check and $500 deposit for bank cards (no credit check and $200 if using a credit card.)Review fromCynthia S

1 starI rented a vehicle through Travelocity to pick up a vehicle at **************************** From April 27 to May 1, 2023. When picking up the vehicle the line was long but there were other car rentals located in that area. There was a person at Hertz not doing anything, could not see her from the line. She made no effort to ask if Hertz could help anyone. Then she was rude. I gave her copy of the confirmation for Hertz, but she wanted to see what was paid for when I booked. I would think that would be something that would be on line. And very rude about it!!I returned vehicle with a full tank of gas. I received an e*mal receipt stating NO charges. However after reviewing my Credit card I found an $124.09 charge from Hertz. This charge was done on 4/27 and processes 4/29. Before I even returned the car !!! I was told it was for gas!!!I drove 113 miles. First * I filled gas tank before returning. 2nd * charged for gas the day I PICKED UP the vehicle. 3rd * drove 113 miles. They state they charge $0.367 per mile. That would come to $41.47 NOT $124.09. They're trying to ripped me off in every way possible!!!Then I'm told I have to provide proof that I filled the gas tank! After giving them my credit card gas receipt I'm told I have to wait 7 to 10 days for refund!!!! They charged my Credit card very quickly though!!!Their obvious error, but I have to provide proof & then WAIT!!!!Review fromjames m

1 starMy name is ************** and i was a Hertz Presidental Circle member, to become a Hertz *** you must 1. be invited to be a member 2. you must rent 40 forty or more cars per month. On or about 9-22-23. i made a reservation with Hertz rental car, via phone, picking up at the ************ ** Airport. When i arrived at the Airport to pick up my car, i was told that i had no reservation and i was given a number to call Hertz corporate. When i spoke with corporate, i spoke with a supervisor by the name of ****. **** told me that i had been placed on the "do not rent list" on 11-19-21. I said to **** that, this must be a mistake because i had rented with hertz prior to and subsequent, to that date of 11-19-21. She then gave me a phone number to call "Verra Mobility" 3rd party Toll violations. When i called the number, i spoke with a ****** of VM who told me that i had a Red Light Violation dating back to 2008 in the amount of $30.00. I asked her was she sure because that was a 14 year old ticket and I'm sure there was some type of mix up. ****** went on to tell me all of their information comes from Hertz. I went on to tell ****** that, i know that this was incorrect , because I've been renting cars with hertz since ****. She then referred me back to ****. I called **** back, at which time, **** informed me that Hertz was under new management and that, the new owners of Hertz had launched a campaign against all of the *** that no longer fit the criteria of ***. I then told ****, that this was fraud and a scam, and a horrible way to do business & treat Hertz loyal members. **** was very rude and i said goodbye to ****. **** should not be in customer services. This is not the first time, that Hertz has made a mistake with my account. In **** Hertz charged over $2,600 dollars to my debit card, claiming that i did not return their car. My attorney had to correct Hertz and get my money refunded. Hertz needs to correct these errors or prepare for civil action.Review fromfaraji j

1 starOn February 20th I returned a vehicle that was vandalized while I was on vacation. My rental vehicle was broken into. I got a police report and turned it in as the Hertz representative told me to do. I sat on the phone with the representative for over an hour and he insured me that I was not at fault and now I receive a bill of $314.99 as he mentioned that I would not be responsible for. This is ridiculous and no one from hertz is taking responsibility for this mistake. Even the Hertz employee at the return location mentioned that I would not be responsible for the incident as I had a police report. I would like this fee waived. 1 starDo not use the option to extend a rental car on the Hertz website! A message displayed on my computer stating an extension could not be done yet my credit card was charged double the amount that was reflected for a weekly rental! I've spoken with multiple customer service employees, went back to the original location where the car was rented, call back to the original location where the car was rented and spoke with several employees, requested the names and phone numbers of district regional and store managers but was refused that information. No one will refund my credit card and they're telling me to call my credit card company to dispute the charges!!! Please do not rent cars from this company. It's hard to find an email for a person who is in charge. There is no way to contact upper management or any company executive. The minimum wage employees cover for people who can make decisions and make things happen. These people serve as a smoke screen and I don't think it would be safe to work there as an employee. They take the heat when things go wrong.Review fromJesse K

1 starI rented a car from Hertz, located at 15001 Old Hickory Blvd, Nashville TN. -pick up my car and immediately find a bra in the trunk. there was trash all over -Less than a week after I pickup the car it tells me it needs an oil change, the brakes scream at every speed -go to renew my rental. seems fine until 3 days later I get calls threatening to have the car towed at my expense, I have to go back to renew AGAIN -drop off the vehicle and before I can even get out of the car I get a staff member rushing me inside to drop off the keys, not letting me check the car, turns out my $4000 Tripod is in the car. -try calling the location over a dozen times, they do not answer the phone, I call the Pepboys location located in the same room as them and ask if there is staff present/the phone is ringing. They answer "yes" to both and tell me the staff are all looking at their phones/ignoring the phone ringing -go to the location in person, that afternoon, there's a line almost reaching the door, there's nobody behind the desk. I wait with everyone in line for over 10 minutes to then watch the entire staff saunter in with fast food bags sipping drinks, staff rolls her eyes -wait in line...for over an HOUR to ask them if they recovered a large tripod from the trunk of a car dropped off 3 days ago, I give my info. They have nothing, which between this and finding a bra in my trunk tells me they don't check or clean the cars between rentals -give the staff my info, assures me she will reach out to the other renter -no contact/7days -called 181 times, no answer -go to location, wait two hours in line. -ask the woman if she heard back from the other driver, She claims she never said she would do this.before I can even say another sentence she ushers the next person in line to come up and starts talking to them, refusing to listen me. -filed multiple lost and found claims, I tried reaching out via twitter, only to be told that this location will handle the situation from hereReview fromErica W
