1 star0 stars. Rented a Tesla on 6/2/22 through Uber so I had to go to a specific rental site that is 40 miles away (not the problem at all). Had a reservation, told they had no cars, which turned out to be a consistent problem (not for me) for renters as reservation means nothing. Car showed up, I was content. I drove off, only to find that the registration wasn’t on uber. So three days of rental, multiple emails from the manager that handled the rental ( the people in the rental center are the only ones that can help you) to upper management and I can finally get on track. Monthly rental, weekly payments and no problem until I close out to renew. I specifically had asked to change my card as the original used didn’t have a high enough limit, no problem new card was taken for payment to finalize the rental and start the new one. They did, I watched it happen and three days later, Hertz forced the payment through on the original card making it over double the limit and the new card. The next week I go online to extend the rental, and get a message that it was declined. I check my credit card and the weekly rental amount has been taken by hertz 3 times ($1425). It’s night at this point so can’t call, I go on twitter and am told I have to go to the location I rented from. Location is only open from 8-5 m-f. I call and your only option will be to speak to someone who can only take a payment. So I go in person and wait for hours, I show the payments and explain so they put it through again for the weeks I paid for (the card declined because it stinks like fraud) but when the agent does it the system recognizes as valid. I don’t worry about it and come back at the end and renew. It happens again, rinse and repeat for every rental period last was early nov 22. I was refunded only $625, received in December, told I didn’t pay for a rental period and was on a do not rent list. After ruining my credit and taking more than they were owed, they sent ME to collections for $625.Review fromJose V

1 starI booked car rental on priceline on 7th May at 1030pm.. i called priceline the next day at 1pm to change the driver. they told me i need to call hertz. when i called hertz they tolde to call uber local office. i had 24 hrs to cancel. i didnt receive any email or text stating ny rental. Hertz gave me the reservation number (***********) to inform uber. they were rude and they asked me to call hertz. By now I was ready to cancel thebooking. I downloaded hertz app and was able to cancel. the app toldme that my reservation was cancelled. And i look at my credit card hertz charged 268.34$. there is no customer service for hertz in the US, your call gets transferred to china. i called 4 times and all the 4 time chinese call center picked up the call. never again with hertz or priceline. EXPEDIA is the best. NEVER AGAIN WITH HERTZ OR PRICELINE. YOU GUYS CAN EAT MY MONEY. I JUST CONSIDER IT AS I GAVE IT TO A BEGGAR.. BUT YIU GUYS WILL NOT BE GETTING ANOTHER PENNY FROM ME. NEVER. 1 starDo not use Hertz in New Orleans! There is fraud going on there. No one is there to check cars in upon return. There is no other choice but to leave it. Then, later you get a bogus charge for something. This has happened twice. So, it is a pattern. The first rental was on April 11. It was first charged correctly at $114.65. After the return, a smoking fee of $500 was added. Not only did they charge the $500 additional, but they double billed the original for a total charge of $614.54. Two mistakes. Of course, there was no smoking in the car. Customer service credited the $500 bogus charge, then the $114.65 duplicate charge. The second rental was May 10 and prepaid. Again, there was no Hertz rep there to check in the car. I finally flagged down an employee and she was surly and refused to check the car in. I told her that I didn't want to do this because of being charged the $500 on a previous rental. She refused and rudely said she would not do that and to just leave the keys in the car. Having no choice, that is what happened. Then, I get an email saying Hertz has charged $550 for missing equipment. There was no missing equipment. Now I have to deal with getting a credit for it. This is out and out FRAUD! This is not a reputable company and I will not use them again.Review fromGary S

1 starI recently rented a car from the Hertz counter at the ****** Airport to have a car from 4/20/23 - 4/24/23. When I returned home I saw an additional charge on my card for more than my original charge. When I looked at the invoice that they emailed me I saw 3 charges that were not familiar. They were: Damage Waiver - $139.96, Concession Fee Recovery - $45.05, and Premium Roadside Emergency Service - $39.96. When I tried to call and dispute these charges I was told that I agreed to them. They were not explained to me, at least not in English, and not by those descriptions. I told them I didn’t want insurance and would not have agreed to the road service charge since I have AAA, and they even gave me the discount for being a member. I have no idea what the Concession Fee is. So it seems like they are charge these fees and hope that nobody notices, and will claim that you agreed to them. I will not be doing business with Hertz again any time soon.Review fromBrittany B

1 starIf I could leave 0 stars I would. this company does not deserve any stars let alone to be in business. I used them once and will not be a returning customer and I advise you to do the same. this company is clearly running a scam. I used their services in 2022 to have while on vacation for my mom's bday. I had an issue from the very start with the agent. I should have known right then to go to another company. Well, we didn't and the car a BRAND new car, at that, ended up breaking down on us on my mom's birthday, might I add. They left us stranded. no one ever came for the car. we uber back to the Airbnb *more money wasted*. my friends had to Uber *******************. and we had to Uber to the airport the next day ( which is the only one that they provided for us). we got to the airport and the manager took some off of the car and called himself giving us a credit which I thought was useless because why would I ever want to use your service again? you not only ruined my vacation but my mother's bday. Fast forward to this year, we go to a conference me and my mom once again in the same state, so my mom chose to use the credit. so she thought. she had a year to utilize the credit and everyone has been giving her the run around from the customer service agents to the counter agents and the corporate office. She has been on the phone constantly with them which cut back into our vacation. They are not doing anything about it to make it better. Everyone is saying that she cannot use the credit, which is blasphemy and an insult, and when she rented the car they told her to go to the counter and use a Credit satisfaction which she cannot use. This is absurd. Please stay away from HERTZ. She also was charged for a toll, which we could understand but not after dealing with everything. Wow,Hertz, has the right name. they will hurt you every time!!! NEVER AGAIN!Review fromRobert W

1 starJust WoW! Worst treatment ever from a car rental. We called from DFW airport to make sure someone would be at Memphis airport Hertz counter at our arrival at 10:20pm … they assured us that they would be open until 11pm and yes… our car would be there. I walked up to the closed Hertz office at 10:30pm… there were probably 5-6 other stranded hertz customers there trying to find a hertz employee to get their cars. After 20 minutes of 5 different people looking around and finding nobody as promised to get our vehicles.. I called hertz’s 800 number and got their “spokesperson” who was totally useless and hadn’t a clue what to do. Said to come back at 7:30am… being that we’re stranded and now we’re trying to get an Uber or Lyft to our downtown hotel at 11:40pm… third world customer service from hertz… if even that! Screw this company!!Review fromBrian D

1 starRented an economy fuel vehicle online. Upon my arrival I was advised they were putting me in an electric vehicle which would not suffice as where I am going does not have charge access. They then tried to force me into an upgrade at my additional cost with absolute no customer service, zero empathy and overall bad management. I have worked in rental facilities and we would take care of the upgrade if the lack of accommodation was on us. Very bad business, would not recommend. I am unable to make my business trip due to this bad business practice. I do tons of rentals through the corporation Im with and will be sure to make sure we never use hertz again. I will also be filing a complaint with the better business bureau due to this mismanagementReview fromAnes D

1 starHertz confirmation K46644483E5 Pick-up May 5, 2023. Drop-off May 7, 2023 car reserved ************** Corolla or similar - What to say, i prepaid $174 on the car i vas supposed to rent for 2 days, these people claim not to have cars and upcharged me +$300 on suv that they claimed thats all they only had in stock, later when i entered garage I saw for my self they had 10+ cars on the parking lot she could've given me in midsize class that I prepaid for; older white lady at the rental counter had horrible attitude she threw my ID, made huge drama, yelling and unnecessary escalatig situation at the counter at me and told me to wait unknown amount of time while cars get returned but suv is available with +300 upchrge, anxious to leave as she made huge scenes where everyone was looking at me she blackmailed me into renting expensive vehicle and extorted my money; You could tell that's how they hustle people and this was not one time occurrence, after checking ****** reviews this is just normal from this location. I never had this happen to me before and I rented cars many many times locally and internationally.Review fromSusan B

1 starRented car at Charlotte, NC Airport… paid for in advance! BIG Mistake! We pick up car, told them we didn’t want insurance and signed and went on our way. Half way through our trip I get a credit card charge , they charged us for insurance, over $600.00! Because we signed, that’s all that matters, not that the desk clerk didn’t understand what we told her, and obviously we didn’t understand either! Never again will I rent anything from Hertz!Review fromJoy S

1 starI rented a Tesla on Thursday April 27 at Atlanta airport rental company. I returned the vehicle on Sunday morning at 5:30am April 30. Once I was on my plane I realized I forgot my camera inside of the glovebox along with my balloon pump and projector in the backseat of the car. Upon landing in Chicago I immediately tried to call and make a report but got nothing but machines. I then went online and did a claim for my camera along with the lens and tripod I left in the glovebox (reference number is on subject line). Monday morning I was filled with anxiety and begged anyone who I knew in town to go in person and speak with the lost and found desk directly. My mother went and spoke with the manager who informed us that the car had been rented out again but would be returned that evening (Monday) and a hold would be placed on it until she was able to personally go through it and retrieve my items. It is now Friday and after five anxiety filled, long days, I have yet to get an email or a phone call from her. I’ve called over ten numbers for hertz customer service and have even texted the company. I’ve been told my lost item report would be answered in 2-5 business days. (which would’ve been today) I will now be filing a police report because not only has no one contacted me about my camera but the items I left in plain site in the backseat have not been listed as found on the list and leave me to believe they too have been stolen. The cars are supposed to be cleaned thoroughly before being rented back out and everything inside should be logged and reported. I pray there are cameras and the police get to the bottom of this issue because clearly nobody who owns the company is concerned on how their customers are treated by their employees that they hire and who represent them.
