      My wife reserved a rental car and paid fully on line. She arrived at the designated pick up time and was told that they have no cars available and there was nothing they could do. When I reached out to complain, their response was sorry but "our fleet is typically more than sufficient to meet confirmed reservations". "Typically" being able to honor fully paid reservations is really poor customer service. There is no point in having a reservation system if it guarantee the customer will have a ********************** car waiting on them. Hertz's response has been completely insufficient. The rental agreement actually has a clause where the customer will be charged if they don't show up or cancel their reservation after 24 hours of booking. But when Hertz fails to fulfill the contract agreement, no penalty for them. Terrible customer service!

      I would rate them a zero if I could.I booked a car in *****, ******. The final cost after checking out was about 110 dollars for a single day including insurance.On arrival they claimed I didn't choose any insurance. The person checking me out didn't speak a lot of english and I didn't speak a lot of ******, I decided to bite the bullet for the sake of ease and purchase more insurance then and there. I was told it would be about 78 euro on top of my 110 I already spent.When the final receipt came up I was being charged 290 euro. For those doing math I'm at about 400 dollars at this point. When I inquired about it, I was told that the larger charge was part of a deposit that I would be refunded once they received the car back and did a check.There was also a note about how if I did not fill up, it would be another 217 euro charge on top of everything. Exorbitant considering I used about 12 dollars of gas in total.After spending about 400 dollars on a single day car rental and returning the car with FULL gas from the station 50 meters up the road I received the penalty charge on my credit card and have not been refunded the deposit either. The penalty charge was actually made by the gas station itself which is very suspicious.All in all I was charged over 600 dollars for about 8 hours of car use. This is still on going and I hope to get that deposit back and fight the gas charge. Absolute scam. Never use Hertz.

      I called Friday 5/20 to review my charges as they did not match what the representative in ******* ****** told my husband! I asked to speak to a manager or supervisor and waited on hold. Was met with no one is available, I said I would continue to hold. I held again for approx **** min and was again told no one available. I held one more time and then again was told no one was available. They offered to have a manager / supervisor call me back which I agreed to! As of Wednesday 5/24 - no call back. We are disappointed in customer service and will not be renting from Hertz in the future! Such a shame. But based on previous reviews not sure it will matter to corporate.

      Hertz is horrible and dishonest. I rented a car and when I turned it in they charged me for "damage" which was a few scratches on the right side. This in spite of the fact that the scratches were already there and they had pictures of the preexisting damage in their system. I protested to Hertz customer service but they charged me anyway. I will never rent from Hertz again.

      Worst experience ever !! I wish I went to Enterprise. I paid in advance just for them to tell me they dont have any cars available. My credit card was charged on the 30th of April and almost 30 later I still did not receive my refund. They have terrible customer service and basically lied to me about my refund being processed even I called the 1st time. Ive called customer service 4 times in the last 24 days trying to get my money back. The customer service representative **** was said she would take my number down so a supervisor could contact me and she pretended to write my number down but when I asked her to repeat the number she couldnt remember the number. Everything about this experience was bad. Dont book here

      make sure you check before you book, you will pre-pay for the car, then at the counter they will add a bunch of fees that sum up to the same amount you prepay making you believe you are just paying what you thought you prepaid online. I was charged $240 for my rental online, then at the counter they charged me again when I returend the car, telling me that that was for the added options that I did not agreed to have like premium roadside assistance, office fees etc.At the end I got charged almost $500 for it.Rental car companies need to be forced to release all the charges before hand not once you land att the airport and you have no choice or you'll be walking instead of driving.Disgusting industry.

      I have had the worst service and the most filthy rental car that I have ever had and it smells like smoke or mold. Only reason we have the filthy car that stinks is because Hertz at the California airport has already wasted 3.5 hours of our vacation. Worst ever. And another thing it makes no sense whatsoever is that someone has to have the same exact card that the car is PREPAID with when you have your reservation confirmation and a valid REAL ID. Think about it some cards are compromised and have to be canceled. Ridiculous! Already getting headache from either mold or smoke can’t tell which one. Thanks HERTZ.

      If I could rate 0, I would. We paid $1k for our trip, for a Tahoe or similar, THEY RENTED IT TO SOMEONE ELSE! Were stuck with a traverse, if I wanted something this size, I wouldve driven my Durango and saved myself a grand! This is a million percent ridiculous! They are rude, unprofessional, and disrespectful! We will NEVER rent with hertz again!

      I have just rented a vehicle from Herz at the San Antonio airport. I did read the rental agreement which does NOT state that the credit card must be a chipped card. I arrived at San Antonio airport and was all prepared with my credit card and license for check in. It was then that I was informed that my credit card was unacceptable because it did not have chip capabilities. The women was initially rude when I explained my card did not have the capability and asked for another card. I only have one credit card and was prepared to use this one as that required a lower deposit. Instead, I was forced to use a debit card, have my credit checked and pay more of a deposit. Instead of understanding my frustration while I stand there mortified in the middle of the airport, I was met with the response of "I can just push you to the side and move on to the next customer if you don't agree." At this point in the transaction, I am baffled by the response but am left with no other option. I comply with the debit credit and additional deposit because I had no other option. I will also enlighten you that we are here for a funeral and did not need any additional aggravation added to my unexpected trip nor did I need unforeseen expenses because your rental company doesn't disclose that the credit card needs to be chip capable. I am extremely disheartened at the way this interaction ended and am disappointed in Hertz. Please make things right and make changes to your rental agreement so that others won't find themselves in the same position and can save themselves the embarrassment.

      The Operations Manager ***** is a Racist to Asians. He disrespected the customer in front of me and refused to help him confirm. Once it was my turn he didn't even offer any help. I have never purchased the gas option before and I completely forgot and refilled before I returned. I paid $55+ for the refuel option and I paid $35 to refill at the pump. I am out $90 to get this little ***** fueled. ***** would not even offer any help or discount cause I am not a white person but a person of Asian descent. I have never encountered anyone in his position that has no sense in Customer Sevice.
