      I have been trying to cancel my service but the wait times are always over an hour. I do not have that much time to sit on the phone and wait. I spoke with someone through the chat online and he told me to call the same number and it would only be about a 15 minute wait. I told him that was what I have already tried but he still told me to call that number. I still have not been able to cancel my service.

      I wish I could give ADT a zero. I was a customer for 3.5 years. The doorbell camera never worked, and the monitoring was more expensive than any other option. A month ago, I decided to cancel. The website chat bot gave me a phone number specifically for cancellations. I was on hold over an hour, the phone was never answered. I finally disconnected, and immediately called the number for sales. It was answered on the first ring but of course they said that I had to call the special cancellation number in order to cancel. I gave up for that day. I tried the cancellation number again a week later. Same result - over an hour on hold and I finally had to give up. I just tried for the third time. This time, while on hold, I went to the website and told the chat agent that I would be filing a complaint with the BBB. I was given a different phone number to call to cancel. I called it. Guess what: the same hold sequence of incessant ADT advertisement as the previous number. With grit and determination, I held out until the call was answered - just under an hour of waiting. The agent who answered sent me to a second agent who sent me to manager who tried to blame the long hold on everythign but ADT. Remember, this is the special cancellation phone number so it makes no sense why none of these people were "authorized" to cancel my service. When I refused to be convinced by the manager to keep my service, she sent me a 4th agent. Success at last, this was the Great Oz who actually said he cancelled my monitoring. I have no patience for shady business practices, and the gauntlet that ADT puts people through for cancellations is beyond shady; it is downright unethical. Because they don't answer the cancellation line, I paid for an extra month of monitoring. But it was money well spet because I also learned to stay far, far, far, from this company. I suggest you do the same.

      Showed up at my door, lies and said my homeowners insurance covers a 1 year contract. I told him this was news to me, he played it cool. He kept talking, finally I asked him, who is my homeowners insurance? He didn't know. He was lying through his teeth. ADT model is deceptive and should be forced to reconcile the harm they cause people. Thankfully I came to my senses and told him to leave my house. Others below in the comments were not so lucky. **** **** ****.

      I signed up for ADT five months ago and then sold my house. Because of a five-year contract, which was never explained to me by the sales agent, the company is now stating I owe them $2,500 in order to close the service...in a house I no longer live in. They stated the equipment charge is $700, which I could understand paying for, but what is the remaining balance for? They charge you an absurd amount without anything to show for it. When speaking to customer service for over an hour, and learning they WILL NOT transfer you to a manager OR help out in any way, the only option I had was to change to a different service. It was never explained to me within that hour WHY I was being charged the $2,500. The agent only stated that it was for the 'monitoring' charge...but if there is no service, who is monitoring? Basically, the charge is a gigantic ***** YOU to any customer foolish enough to sign up for **********************. Anyone, please, DO NOT SIGN UP WITH ADT!

      If I could rate this company a -1 I would. How on earth does the BBB rate this firm an A+ is beyond me. I count ten (10) reviews on this page and all of them are no better than a 1! There is more on the following page. At least 20+ all with a q1 or less if they could. Maybe the BBB can answer that? On to my issue(s). Below is a portion of a Yelp review for most if not the same poor customer service. Here is my quote explaining my own personal opinion. "8.5 hours wait time over two days and still no resolution. If you have time to spare when your appointment(s) don't show until the last possible moments and then not fix the problem (TWICE) then ADT is the Alarm Company for you!!!"

      ADT sent a price increase email to us on the same day it charged our credit card for the upcoming month's monitoring. We wanted to cancel on the spot and had trouble connecting by phone with waits of several hours on hold without success. When we finally connected with them on the following day, they said we still had to pay for the entire month and couldn't cancel until the end of the month. They are way overpriced for their service and several of their security devices require a service technician to replace batteries that wear out. Be aware of the fact that now there are several better and less expensive security solutions available that will allow you to avoid there price gouging practices.

      I had been an ADT customer since 2012. I recently sold my house and am in the process of building a new one. I am currently in temporary housing so I have no need for a security system. I called on 10/16/22 to cancel my service. They were very helpful in doing so. I specifically canceled it on 10/31/22 so there would be no more charges in November. I asked directly if there would be any cancellation charges. I was told no and told to reach out when my new house was finished to install service. I had set up direct pay on the first of every month. On November 1, nothing was taken out, so I assumed I was in the good. Then on November 2, they withdrew $517 from my account causing it to overdraft. I called on the 2nd and spent 1 hour and 45 minutes to resolve the issue. I was promised a refund to my account and told it would be a few days. Now on 11/16/22, I still have not seen that money back in my account. I called again and was given the run around. Finally I was told that they had to issue a check and it would take up to 25 days to be sent in the mail. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! TERRIBLE PEOPLE! TERRIBLE SERVICE! It's ironic that they protect you from theft all the while they rob their customers. I will NEVER use ADT again. I would suggest you do the same.

      I would never recommend this company to anyone. They bought out the security company I was using and upgraded my equipment. 2 years later I sold my home. They have a 30 day cancellation period, which is crazy. I was told I need to pay for the upgraded equipment that they installed. Basically, an Ipad that connected all the devices that I already had in place. I received a bill for $924.62 to cover the period from my last payment to the 30 day period and for the equipment. ADT is penalizing me for selling my home. This is crazy because there are many other options out there for securing your home at a much lower cost. Another family just discontinued their ADT service and they were not charged for the equipment. I think it depends on who you talk to in customer service. NEVER use ADT.

      Called 3 times in one day, to cancel my service. No one answered phone calls, and one call had me on hold for 25 MIN, then was auto disconnected presumably because of excess hold time. I reached out to online chat, and after 15 min of chat ******* says to call account management for cancellation. I told him i called 3 times already to excessive hold times, and why cant they just cancel my service, since their is no signal coming from my home as is? I have already changed service provider. OMG. It's beyond ridiculous as we are in 2022, the digital age. It's not 1960. Get your stuff together ADT, but maybe that's why I am leaving, you gave me a good reason.
