1 starGreetings,ADT sales/technician came to my house on 9-5-2025. ******* V sales/technician was very unprofessional. I was very straightforward and did my homework prior to the arrival of what I wanted upgraded as far as my existing security in place.I inquired about flood light camera , regular camera, door bell camera and keyless entry. ******* T stated my equipment-that I currently have is not compatible with ADT.He did not look in my closet to check anything he just looked at my outdoor cameras. Nor did he check my sensors on all my windows. He was very confusing when he stated that the sensors on the windows can be switched over but the other equipment could not.He stated my equipment was not compatible. I did the soft credit check. soft credit to see what I am eligible for. I was eligible for all promotions that ADT offered.I made it clear I wanted to stay in a certain budget with my payments per month.What made me uncomfortable with *********** is that when he was writing the sales order is that how he can hookup the flood light, however I would have to get a certified electrician to connect the flood light.I feel like the sales/ technician was all over the place and not transparent with his explanation upfront.I was confused and certainly apprehensive on what he was saying to **** explained I was confused because he was not clear and he starts telling me he was the number one sales person in the ****I understand they get paid commission but that is not a good look on ADT for a sales/technician to display that type of behavior. I am a technician not a salesperson however contradicting by saying your supervisor **** ***** authorized you to give me 20% of the overall equipment and monthly fee. Declined to provide his last name. Provided is supervisor first and last name.He made me feel very uncomfortable with the service provided.I was shocked due to I had ADT prior and the service was good.Review fromLynn K

1 starI've often noticed unmarked cars in my area, and my cameras have failed to capture any images of them. The most recent incident occurred in August 2025 at 9:45 PM, involving a gold vehicle without license plates. Despite my internet connection functioning properly and the vehicles being within range, their presence feels both intimidating and harassing. I can see individuals inside these cars working on computers.While there hasn't been any illegal entry onto private property without a warrantsomething that has occurred in the pastthese actions can still be perceived as intimidation. The distinction often depends on the methods used and whether they adhere to legal standards and protocols. I wanted to bring this to your attention. My cameras have previously shut down during incidents of robbery and vandalism, which the police attributed to my brother, even though there was no warrant. Today, I feel uncertain about the situation, especially since my brother has the capability to orchestrate such actions due to his connections with authorities.I continue to wonder why my cameras keep shutting down. This issue has been ongoing since 2015, affecting both my Vivint and ADT systems, with the most recent incident involving ADT. Again today 8/7/2025, I was violated and the camera picked up nothing. 1 starWhat a mistake I made with this company. Contestant issues with the system itself. Terrible customer support that just transfer you and keep you waiting. I have this strictly for the cameras(I live in a gated community and dont really need monitoring yet I pay for it) and now my doorbell cam wont work. ADT does nothing but take my money. They wont send someone to fix my issue and when I say I want to cancel they say I need to call back. 1 starDo not, do not use this company. I asked for them to turn my ADT security back on for $31.99 a month. The gentleman who came said that my system was outdated and that he needed to put in a new system. So I told him I had State Farm insurance and he put in that package. Without telling me or acknowledging anything and yes, I guess I did initial something, he put in $3500 of additional equipment and I am being charged for five years $58 a month to pay off that equipment that I did not ask for. I Have not gotten anywhere with this company because all they say is you have a contract. I believe this is elder abuse and I refuse to pay them. So now my credit rating will go down and who knows what else will happen but I cannot pay for something I did not ask for and I cannot afford that.Review fromGrace F

1 starI went to ADT because they were contracted with my new build house and the representative said they are the only available security service for my neighborhood, I agreed as the equipment was already pre installed in my house and I only saw ADT signs in the neighborhood so I believed about being the only one. I was previously with vivint at my old home, loved it 5 star review for them. Upon living with ADT service, a few remarks. The app is completely non-user friendly and the interface was the same. Prices were much higher than I was used to paying for security as well. I recently made the switch to vivint after a year of ADT and got a card to buy out the remainder of my ADT contract. AWFUL EXPERIENCE. An hour long phone call with 50 of those minutes being on hold between 8 different representatives tossing me around because Im sure they didnt want the failed cancellation negotiation on their record. Ridiculous and unprofessional behavior including crying and begging from one of the agents. I kid you not, actual crying and begging for me to stay. Along with 5 minutes intervals of silence whilst she found more offers to throw my way. Once she finally cancelled my contract I was thrown to a completely new agent who had no context of my situation, luckily he was the only to actually give me information and tell me that my contract was cancelled but it will take 3 to 5 days for the bill to be posted for me to buy the contract out. 1 starI'd leave zero stars. We chose ADT because a family friend was in senior sales. We entered into a 3 year agreement. Shortly after having equipment installed, the franchise our friend belonged to let him go and made him sign a non compete agreement (because he was good and they knew it). We no longer had reliable service after that. Our equipment stopped working and any time we reached out for help, we were unable to get anyone to respond. When our 3 years was up, we canceled--they even reimbursed us for that month, which had been on autopay. Then they took it upon themselves to restart an agreement I didn't agree to. 6 months later they were trying to get payment from me. A *** offered for me to pay half so that they didn't send me to collections. And I agreed to pay the half of over 3 payments in July 2024. They sent me to collections anyway for the half they agreed to cancel. I explained to the collections company, showed proof, and since they stopped contacting me, I assumed I was fine. Then April of this year I started getting generic phone collection calls from a different company. I didn't know who they were or why they were calling until about a week ago when they noted it in their message. A year later and they are still trying to get this other half. 1 starSo disappointed with their customer service. I have canceled my service buy they continue to charge me over and over again. When I call they explain to me it takes ********************************** c'mon! Any excuse to keep charging me. Also they do not uninstall their own equipment. They told me to call a handyman and throw away the equipment that they are charging me monthly for. Makes absolute zero sense and so wasteful.Review fromROSE K

1 starI have had ADT services since 1992. My current equipment is getting worn and I have asked to get a new key pad and was told they sell equipment. I have paid you religiously monthly or quarterly since 1992 and you can't give me a keypad?When I agree to purchasing the keypad and other sensors I am told it will be near $300.00. When I agree to pay that and go under contract, the technician says I need all new stuff and now this total is far more. First of all, the sales person knew how old my original equipment was. He should have told me I needed all new equipment, yet he sold me add ones which technically put everything else in jeopardy. So for 32 years of loyal service I get a bill and a new contract? ADT is not loyal to it's customer. They fail to tell you when you no longer have a landline you are paying them for non monitoring, because it is impossible without cell guard.ADT is a rip off and after 32 years, over half my life, I am divorcing them. I should be reimbursed for the time they could not monitor me. They charged us for services not rendered.Review fromCharles d

1 starThe worst service ever.. Our home has been unprotected from the account executive *** ******* of writing the wrong address They will captivate your credit card. He never told us we had to be there to download the app after telling him repeatedly telling him we were NOT at the residence.. His boss ***** ***** is equally as useless.. He also said the installer went to our address, yes he did after being lost for two hours at ******* where the installer did go, not to our address.. Our home has not been protected from contract date like they say and still isnt today.. Do yourself a favor and choose another companyAddress still wrong in the computer todayReview fromJé G

People look for safety, peace of mind, and reliabilityespecially older adults who may be more vulnerable to crime and also more trusting of established brands. Unfortunately, ADT, one of the most well-known names in home security, has increasingly proven that it prioritizes profit over honesty. Instead of protecting customers, particularly those over the age of 60, ADTs sales practices and equipment quality reveal a company more interested in misleading buyers than providing real security.This review will explore in detail how ADT misleads customers, the poor quality of their products (especially cameras and monitoring equipment), the deceptive behavior of their sales agents, and the troubling way the company preys on senior citizens.
