1 starBeware of AARP Awards. On May 22, 2023, purchased four Princess Cruise Line gift cards from AARP for $1800. Three if the four cards worked/were redeemed but one had a zero balance and read insufficient funds. I contacted them immediately and they had been "working on it" ever since. Meanwhile, I'm out $450.AARP

1 starI get trash spam mail by the bucketload every darn week from businesses that AARP SOLD MY INFORMATION TO!!! I tried to cancel my membership, but you have to phone in to do this. In the meantime, my inbox is full of AARP trash, my mailbox is full of AARP trash, and I want nothing to do with it.....but I will TELL EVERY PERSON I MEET TO AVOID SCAMMING SPAM AARP AND NEVER EVER JOIN, NOR LET YOUR ELDERLY PARENTS JOIN. SO THERE STUPID AARP, WHAT DID BUGGING ME NONSTOP GET YOU IN THE END??????AARP

AARP provides members the ability to control their communication preferences. This is easily accomplished on the "My Account" section of our website, www.aarp.org.
I see that you successfully cancelled your AARP membership on May 6, and a full refund was processed. I have ensured that the email address we have on file is opted-out from receiving future emails and I have suppressed your name and address from receiving mailings sent to you from AARP and our affiliated service providers. As some of these mailings are prepared ahead of their distribution date, this request may take up to 12 weeks.
We are sorry to see you go and hope that you will reconsider the benefits of AARP membership in the future.

1 starI purchased 1-$500 carnival gift card, 2-$100 cards. Cashed the $500 and 1 -$100 one
Second $100 card would not work and would never go through after many days if contacting AARP, only to be told it had a zero balance
ONLY PLACE IT CAN BE USED IS CARNIVAL CRUISE LINES, but AARP incest it is zero and will not refund or issue new card.
I finally told them to refund my membership because they would not honor the card.
Still have not done anything about the gift card and I'm out $90AARP

Thank you for contacting us about the issue with your Carnival cruise gift card purchase through AARP Rewards.
We previously wrote to you on April 26. The Carnival Cruise gift card in question was redeemed on 4/6/23 for a cruise sailing on 10/21/23. We have previously provided you the booking number for that cruise.
AARP does not have access to any further information regarding the gift card due to customer privacy concerns. Please contact Carnival Cruises directly, and ask for the booking department to confirm they have record it was applied to your reservation.
Per your request, we cancelled your AARP membership and refunded the $43 to the credit card on file.

1 starAARP hijacked my health care through devious practices! I would recommend that all seniors check their affiliations because AARP seeks to represent seniors before Congress and the Senate. The way that they do this is through numbers! |n order to get those numbers they use a variety of methods! They spam you through emails, they advertise on many media platforms! They somehow are able to get your information in these ways! They got my information and without my knowledge they signed me up to a new health plan and even went so far as to disenroll me from my San Francisco Retiree's Health Care System and enroll me as an AARP client.
Then AARP claims that they are not a health insurer and that makes it next to impossible to disenroll from what they sign you up for!!

1 starAARP completely sucks!!
After being a member for 24+ years and paying 5 years (present subscription ends in 2026), we called AARP to take advantage of their free gift only to be told we were ineligible for it unless we wanted to pay for 1 additional year. So, had we not we paid 5 years in advance we would have been eligible for their pathetic free gift but given they already pocketed our money until 2026, they asked us to pay for one additional year before sending it to us. They are extortionists on top of it all. BEWARE...stay away, their information is stale and definitely not worth the money. Especially when they treat loyal long standing paying customers like garbage. We are canceling our subscription.AARP

5 starsAARP offers free tax help. I made an appointment to have my taxes done by one of their VOLUNTEERS. Its free to all , except millionaires. Millionaires have their own lawyers.
It is good that AARP offers us free help to keep us in "uncle Sam's" good grace.
Thanks so much to the volunteers. I wish they could get paid by the government. As much as we pay in taxes; volunteers should at least get a voucher for a free lunch.
AARP saves me every year because doing taxes is a nightmare . One missed block on a tax form could land you in jail. AARP volunteers checks your paperwork thoroughly. So, I can sleep well at nightReview fromAdela M

1 starBE Careful Don’t trust AARP they took advantage of my mother 82 yes old over charged her. Called her had her switch insurance and double charged her she is on a set income When she cancelled they still charged her more and she lost all her money to them. I called and they didn’t want to help her at all! Please they take advantage of elderly don’t trust themAARP

1 starThis is regarding AARP Roadside Assistance/Allstate. Our entire vehicle was deeply stuck in snow when we slipped off on the icy road. No way could we shovel out. I called Roadside Assistance. The woman who answered could not understand me even though I spoke distinctly about the situation & our location. I even downloaded their app to no avail. She finally told me to call our own tow truck!! After a frustrating half hour, I hung up. We got no help whatsoever. Later, I called customer service & was told that we would receive 50% refund on our payment for the year. That was 2 months ago, & there is no refund. AARP Roadside Assistance used to be the best. In the past, we got excellent service. I don't know what has happened, but that is no longer true. You can't even cancel on their website or remove your credit card.AARP
